These still inspire me. Please do not ever get rid of these... maybe you should put all of these together on a disc for me and I'll send you a good chunk of $$$
Imogen your so talented it blows me away with every blog! and you play like every instrument! You really are so great! COME TO UTAH!!! we love you so much here!!!!
Immi. It's rare that an artist can take one of their classic songs, one so timelessly etched in the listener's ear as is Hide&Seek....then revisit the song and bring out even more dynamic and soul..flesh it out beyond the original as you've done with Hide&Seek 2. It's a brilliant bit of work, yet at the same time doesn't lessen the effect of the original. Bravo Immi!!
Polyfila sounds amazing!! I just keep playing this blog over and over so I can hear the clips of it. I'm really excited for your new album and can't wait to hear all these great songs in full.
That acoustic of Hide and Seek is soooooo cool! I can't wait to hear the whole thing! Tidal and Pollyfilla is really coming along too. The amount of instruments she has command over is insane....
I adore you! I can't wait for your new cd. You're my favorite. My six year old daughter's favorite song in the world is Goodnight and Go. I have it on my playlist and it came up today and she dropped everything she was doing to come and dance and sing it to me. We love your music.
I once realized I couldn't be a musician because the lack of creativity, but thank good people like you exist :) Love ur music, keep up the good work :)
WOW, i can truly say you are my favorite artist of all time! i am just so amazed at all the ideas that you get and incorporating that gameboy sound has got to be the most creative and random thing i have ever seen (heard). You truly are amazing and i love watching the blogs! I hate the fact that i can never seem to fins your cd's in miami, FL at F.Y.E. but hopefully this new cd will be there on the first day! It sounds amazing. Thank you for all your creativity and the music you bring to us!
I love love love your studio; it's wonderful. It's nice to see it from another angle. :D The songs just sound better and better. You are incredibly creative and I cannot wait for this album!!
I LOVE every single thing you put in your music. I've never felt such a strong urge to buy any singer's album, because I wasn't sure how their entire album sounded, but for immie, I'm dead absolute sure no matter what genre, electrico, harmony, acoustic etc etc I love it. I've got every song, and I love even the short previews sound gorgeous. Simply love your creative spirit, and the range of musical instruments used are amazing. I'm crazy over the hangdrum, and you also got one for yourself!
Amazing! A Gameboy sound inside a well revered musician's songs! You could start a revelation! Next try the DS' opening sound! xP Always a fan Immi! VU
I can't even express how much I love you and your music. You're so creative and inspiring. I don't know how many times I already said it but I: "Can't wait for the album to come out!" Polyfila sounds promising and Tidal is simply the best).
OMFG!!! I SOOOOOO cannot wait for this album to come out. I really do like the added gameboy 'ding' to it. That's so freakin creative and so totally sick.
Wow. Immi, you're crazy mad bloody brilliant. I keep hearing these bits of genius you've got all saved up and I'm dying to hear the finished versions of everything...played all the way through... I like the acoustic hide and seek with the drone, especially the part you changed up. Maybe you could squeeze it in somewhere?
I hope your friends keep talking you into contributing a track here and there. It's nice to get these little in-between-album snacks. :) Good luck catching up!
WOWW!!! The new version of hide and seek sounds absolutely amazing!!!! i got shivers downmy spine from just hearing the bits she played. Can't wait for the new album! I think its really creative how she is putting everyday sounds into the album...like the gameboy sound haha
this vblog gets me so excited, you wouldn't believe. you have a way of giving enough away so that we all want it all now. you should bottle it. I'd by it. hurry number 28.
This is making me look forward to the new album so much! I still can't get over the fact that you put the opening gameboy sound on 'tidal'. And the new 'hide and seek' sounds pretty cool. You are a truly unique artist and i am proud to be a fan. : D
haha i loved the gameboy part so much! (9:25-ish to the end) It sounded so cute ^_^ I kinda wish it was on the final recording! haha but Tidal still a great song, anyway :P It's so cool to see how she progressed and put together all of her songs; all of the changes and modifications, etc.. and it's also kinda fun to see what bits of her life are like. She's taken us on an awesome, wild adventure with lots of creative twists and turns :)
Okay.. This is soooo cool. But it is like a monstrous torture to like at those Vblogs and wait for december to have this masterpiece in hands... ARGH! I can'r wait too. I'm in love with her personality xD
So THAT's what that noise is.... a sruti box. The Penguin Cafe Orchestra uses the drone of one of those in at least one of their recordings. (That I can think of off the top of my head...) Thanks for unintentionally revealing that mystery for me, haha. Really like the samples... can't wait to hear the album. :)
What a talent you are!!! Your blend of originality and accesability is just right. I look really forward to the new album. Hope you are going to record some real string orchestra on your album.
You are amazing. And all of your songs are beautiful. The new album is coming along great! The only problem is that I have to wait until December/January to get my hands on it. D=
You are brilliant! Get it ready for Christmas!!!!!!!!! I have decided that you are a person I would love to meet. Next time you come to Switzerland let me know.
The last time, when i heard Tidal, i thought, that i won't like it, but now i feel totally different. That gameboy thing is really funny. It's the first time to see your studio from an other angle. One day you should make a panorama for us. Anyway, i love Your vBlog :-)
I always leave a long-winded comments on your blogs but perhaps I'll just post one that's simple and concentrates my feelings in a few words: You're prodigious, brilliant, beautiful and often wonderfully ineffable. I love you!
i know now that i'll really like the new cd and her remake of hide and seek is gorgeous i'm glad she did it!i'll buy all your cds and support you always!
That's just creepy...I was about to suggest getting a fitball at vlog#25...or something...like that...! O_o Getting more and more exited...CAN'T WAIT!!! Love the "new" Hide & Seek!!!
Amazinnggg. There's a very small chance, but i'd die to come see you at poptech. I can't wait to get the new Hide and Seek for myself! I'm like you, totally prefer it to the original. The gameboy is amazing as usual, and that sound was almost made for one of your songs. ♥
In barbershop music, the word overtone is often used in a different (though related) way. It refers to a psychoacoustic effect in which a listener hears an audible pitch that is higher than, and different from, the four pitches being sung by the quartet. The barbershopper's "overtone" is created by the interactions of the overtones in each singer's note (and by sum and difference frequencies created by nonlinear interactions within the ear). *continued*
In Tidal I think it would sound cool if the second gameboy note was held off a bit and timestretched. While sustaining, it could be pitched down a semitone or 2 to match the on coming strings. Not too keen on the added gameboy delays, but I'm right into the Princesk playing of all your instruments!
I really hope you read these. Anyway, that phenomena you were talking about with Hide N Seek in barbershop terms is called an "overtone". Most oscillators, from a guitar string to a bell (or even the hydrogen atom or a periodic variable star) will naturally vibrate at a series of distinct frequencies known as normal modes. The lowest normal mode frequency is known as the fundamental frequency, while the higher frequencies are called overtones... continued
Hmmm... October 23rd is my 40th birthday (yes, you have some geriatric fans, too), so keep up the pace :) Nice thing you did for Rupert (and Tibet), been a fan of his since before you were born, I think.
very cool Imogen, I still hope your mixing a 5.1 surround sound version of your upcoming new album. Please, pretty please do this if you can. I would love to play your music in High Def surround sound. much love Rob
Oh my god I cant wait to here that hide and seek all the way IT SOUNDS SOOOOOOOOO GOOOD...:-( the little we did get.....Hope your ankle gets better soon :-( GL IN LIFE!!!
what is that song that is playing while she is showing us that she is sitting on her fit ball? I love it, is it a new song that she hasnt revieled to us yet? Cause it souds really good
i LOVE the gameboy in tidal :') thats so clever and it sound ssoo nice ^_^ i also love the new version of hide and seek. i actually thought that song could not get any better. i love it you fascinate me immy
I actually rather like the game boy click. The sound sort of reminds me of getting an idea (Like a light bulb going on) and thats immediately followed up by the violin and then the song goes on to become more and more complex. I think its very appropriate
lol same here! I use to actually improv it with a bit of Japanese because it sounded kind of like what Sesshoumaru (from Inuyasha) says on the first PS1 game. I forget what it was exactly, something like "Sokuma da na" or whatever he says (haven't played in years :P) Now when I listen, it's totally obvious.
I have to agree. Tidal sounds really promising, and it's the reason I faved this video, but I don't really think the Gameboy works in it. It may be in tune, but it doesn't necassarily mean that it needs to be used! Keep up the good work, though! FFMOOGLE.
These still inspire me. Please do not ever get rid of these... maybe you should put all of these together on a disc for me and I'll send you a good chunk of $$$

Those light panels are amazing. I'll make sure to listen for them on the album. Good luck with the creative spirit!
Awesome Imi! Really looking forward to the final CD. Thanks for documenting your creative process. It's always interesting.
This woman is a freaking genius.
AAAAH I can't WAIT!!!! Imogen you really are a musical GENIUS. I adore every sound you make...and listening to you speak is just lovely.
OMG I love tidal now even more than I did before! Brilliant! Congratulations, it all sounds great!
The album is going to be awesome!! Love all the various sound instruments and resonations.
The music for Tidal is just delicious. Nice touch with the game boy, simple but smart.
Immi.
