23:10 "But that's only on challenge runs. When you have plenty of healing and health it's really not necessary" I think this is getting at the whole philosophy of the game's challenge system. 0 challenges is really meant for learning the game and for folks who don't want to feel pressured (which is totally fair). As you add more challenges the game takes away certain options which force you into other options. Ultimately I think this is a great thing because it helps you realize how incredibly deep the game is and how many possible strategies are waiting to be discovered. If the challenge system didn't exist then you'd never be pushed outside your comfort zone so you'd end up falling into the same patterns over and over again
On re-discovering that the +3 mail has the potential glyph. If you really want to make use of potential for wand recharging (I recommend it because I think it's really cool and also I'm playing a 6 challenge Sniper right now with +3 mail about to take on the Dwarf King) then I think you could really make it work by going heavy into shielding stuff. Transfusion is great for this, as are your mage talents for extra shielding. The Battlemage proc for a staff of corruption is to inflict Amok (for twice the upgrade level + 8 turns) on every hit! Maybe you'll just want to upgrade your staff to +8 (for 10/10 charges) and then throw the enchantment stone on it to see what you get! Warlock talents definitely go really well with corrupted wraiths, as you can get them triggering soul marks as well and start having soul marked enemies get raised as minions too
@@runningfromcake Amok enemies will never avoid traps or chasms, they will walk right into them if the hazard is directly in the way! For a Battlemage, you could take advantage of this feature of Amok using the Warp Beacon to teleport to the other side of a chasm after putting Amok on an enemy. Also I am not quite sure about this but you can test it: I think Amok enemies will prefer walking towards you instead of using ranged attacks
Should use the augmentation stone in the shop to get a bit more defense out of your armour. Or posibble put on the wand for faster attack. Just gives a bit of a boost to gear. I told you the resin is cool, wounder if you will get the the disguise effect. Keep the great content up, cant wait for the next vid. As always keep on punching 👊
Yeah now I remember why I don't like the necromancer build! Turns taking forever is really annoying! That was quite funny when the wondrous resin almost killed you with the paralyze effect! You did a really good job surviving with the blink stone and then getting your ankh back with the deep sleep!
The way to tell corrupted wraiths apart from enemy wraiths is that the enemies have bright eyes. The corrupted ones have dull eyes (because all corrupted allies have a dark tint to them)
I love the necromancer build if you get a wand if transfusion as well you can give them all shields or charm someone so they dont attack you and let you hoard of wraiths do the work
Man, I barely find the corruption wand in my runs The fact that you gotta find it in the first or beginning of second location is brutal for me too. You'd also want to find the corpse quest too. Anyway, my six challenge run was also in mage but I used destruction wand(i seriously can't write the actual word cuz it's too complicated XD) just because it helps with hordes from swarm intelligence and can go through obstacles.
You win so dang much. I've got about 10 wins and 600 deaths. Last I played, I was loaded up, headed to win and stepped on a disintegration trap. ⚡ ZAP ⚡, run over. Bummer.
By the way, the alchemy pots are not always 5 floors apart. My current run has a floor 3 alchemy pot and a floor 9 alchemy pot, a difference of 6! But then it also has 14 and 19, so the game is weird like that!
I must have been on a year long streak then because I swear they were always 5 floors apart, but I don't think I ever read that on the wiki or anything.
@@runningfromcake It might have been changed recently. I recall Evan mentioning that he changed alchemy pots so they never appear on floor 2 since (mostly high-challenge) people were complaining about that. Having a 9-challenge run where the alchemy pot was on floors 2,7,12,17,22 could be a game loser due to all the food you'd waste running back to it (and especially the difficulty of making your first meat pie and/or potion of cleansing)
Corruption is quite weak early game. I think it gets much better later on when things have more health. The direct damage attack wands are much less good in those cases because it takes many zaps to kill one enemy!
Wasnt the whole point of the run to learn how to use corruption effectively? If thats the case than i would recommend just turning the corps dust in as it is a completely different strategy and playstyle than the original point of the run
@@professorcryogen6419 have you ever used corruption warlock it high levels? Late game it becomes zap a few times to get paralysis proc and then just kill them, which is easy because they are paralyzed for 30+ turns, and that's only what it was doing in metro with forbidden runes, just imagine what it would do without runes on
No, the point was for RunningFromCake to get more experience with the wand of corruption, which his viewers suggested after he rated the wand of corruption low in his wand tier list.
@@boo-sd9ci yes, which he isn't doing if he is just using corrupted wraiths, he isn't experiencing how to normally use corruption and he even already knew about and has already done necromancer builds before this run and the tier list video

I agree! I think the challenges are also very balanced.

great tips thanks!! I'm curious about the usefulness of amok, because if no other enemies are around it just attacks me as normal right?

lol, new creative ways to get enemies to fall into chasms, love it.

I'd argue the most proper use of a Wand of Corruption *is* a necromancy build.

that's a good point, I'll probably go back and turn in the corpse dust after messing around for a couple floors.
