Why do gun guys make fun of 22 for being a glorified bb gun? It's pretty powerful from what we just saw here. I'd say that's plenty for self defense.
They shoot at paper targets and nothing else.
TRUMP 2024 !!!
Fractured Hearts that can’t happen just saying
Jimmy Jazz you should get check for TDS, you appear to have a textbook case of it.
Fractured Hearts Trump forever!
Alright, I beg to differ on your assessment of the firewall. The round DID go thru, and what you're seeing is a layer of wool that is used as sound deadening and fire proofing. Firewalls are made to stop FIRE going into the cabin, hence the name "firewall". The steel may be a little thicker but not by much. Get a stick and poke that hole and you'll see.
Beat me too it.
And in responce I say that's what she said to that last sentence
@@geronimo.v8827 Giggity
If it had gone through it would have gone through the paper.
A firewall is meannt to do what now? No its not meant to stop fire... Its made to deflect the engine in a frontal crash...
.22 lr and 9mm by far the 2 best overall calibers for fun shooting ..
And their price proves their popularity as well
How dare you ruin the bangbus of the early 90s!!!
handguns: .25 acp, .32acp, 380, makarov, 7.62Tok, 9mm, 40SW, 10mm, .45
Thanks for your interesting videos!
That bullet drop on the first one was nothing like “a good 6 to 10”..... more like 3-4” ....
Right, typical drama queen.
Love to see .22mag in either pistol or rifle, a much under appreciated caliber
Understatement of the century
Volquartsen makes both.
Agreed!
People that use the 22lr pistols for defense typically do not use the garbage bulk pack rounds. They use stuff like Aguila 40 grain Interceptor that gets about 1100 fps from this barrel length.
it would still kill
Good stuff. I'm seeing a lot of variation in how bullets penetrate vehicles, but it seems like the big variable isn't the bullet, but rather the vehicle.
.22 are cheap, low recoil, and fun to shoot. However it is still lethal if you shoot at living targets, I would recommend .22 rifles for aiming practice and .22 pistol for self defence, the low recoil improves aiming and the cheap price are good for starters. It is not good for long range by the way because the initial speed of it sucks.
Reminds me of old school VSO. Love this type of stuff.
I would like to see the difference between round-nose vs. hollow-point bullets from the same gun; no real preference for calibers, just for anything where you think the difference might be "interesting."
federal standard (automatch) is a lead round nose ammo.
It's a kind of round nose bullet.
But it's a little weaker than FMJ(full metal jacket) or JRN(jacketed round nose).
Growing up as a kid all we could afford was a 22lr rifle, on the farm we killed many deer and hog,
Dude, you must do the .22 long rifle itself, not just the pistol. Also, you gata do the different rounds(mini mag, ultra sonic, high speed, bulk ammo, etc.). Also I would love to see a shotgun through a car. Other than that, a great target to shoot that I have seen on another channel was a stack of plywood. Maybe a foot long by a foot high, stacked to about 7-10sheets. Then taped together so that you can easily tale em apart to see how far the bullets travelled.
I know there is a plethora of .22 ammo available out there but you should try the Aguila Interceptor, I've personally found this particular load to be hotter than CCI's Velocitor.
Yep, they typically shoot 50 to 100fps faster than the Velocitors in all length barrels.
Nick Motsarsky they do. The veloc9tor seems to really need to get 20" barrels or longer to actually get the 1435fps rating. The interceptor will get 1400fps easily from standard 16" barrels
aquila great ammo, federal sucks!
Good job, I learned a few things. I would like you to use CCI Mini Mag high velocity, that should penetrate through both doors. Thanks again, I truly enjoyed this video.
The reason why the round hit the target inside the van lower then thru the door is because anytime round is fired thru something solid it changes the trajectory along with the velocity. That's why I never recommend firing thru windshields, doors, or anything for that matter. Because it will most likely do that.
Really cool video. Thanks for posting it as i learned some valuable info on the ballistic performance with vehicles.
God Bless guys.
Would be nice to compare different barrel length as well.. Handgun vs PCC, carbine/rifle vs SBR, etc
These are the kind of videos I like to see.
Shooting the firewall seems like a great way to get a bullet fragment in your leg
All and all, the .22lr is more powerful than expected. I personally witnessed a 8 point buck shot at the base of it's ear that dropped dead before it hit the ground with a 10/22 Ruger rifle. I'm not advocating poaching, but I saw this as a teenager. Comments, men?
I shot my first deer years back with a marlin 25n in 22lr. One shot one kill. 22 is a good round when placed.
@@calangel what's hiz face said U don't need 10 shots 2 kill a deeah.. LOL
I saw my grandpa shoot two deer at once with a marlin bolt action 22 mag. One was standing behind the other. Went through the heart of the first deer and lung shot the second one. RIP grandpappy
The Houston Museum of Natural Science had an elephant head on display in the zoo in the 1950's. They had to put the crazed elephant down and all they had was a 22 rifle. The head had 28 holes between the eyes. 22 killed an elephant.
My grandfather use to tell me stories about his dad handing him the 22 single shot with 2 bullets telling him he had to bring home enough food for 8 people. He was also one of the men who went and took back the only successfully invaded American land in the forgotten war (Aleutian Islands) my grandfather could shoot the eyes of a squirrel from 60 yards out with a 22! It’s always been my favorite caliber I don’t care what critics say
The .22 did go through the firewall, it just didn't go through all the back padding behind it.
But a general good show that the .22 isn't nearly as weak as people think, I still find people who think a .22 can't kill you even if you shoot someone in the eye (If anything that is more lethal because it would bounce inside the skull)
@Khetman of the Zaporozhyan Cossack Host or out yer toe !!!!
Your comment scares me 😳
You talking about killing
At around the four minute mark they mention a few things about the trajectory going downward, the bullets impact point and angle and deformation of the round upon the entry sequence effects the downward travel of the projectile..like older day tank round that had a softer head for the penetrator inside to have a more stable and solid point of entry
I'd like to see a 9mm, 40s&w and a 45 firewall test 👍🏼
Firewalls are not reinforced to prevent engines from coming through! They are the same 19ga sheet metal as the door. The term firewall is used because the sheet metal will prevent an engine fire from entering the cab.
I would love to see the 22 TCM and 22 magnum tested like this !
Im with you .like to see 22 tcm
Ar 15 loaded with cheap ammo cuz more likely than not somebody with an AR is going to have cheap fmj 55 gr because it works and is very common! Great idea for a series of test I gotta say! 👍
When I get the chance I want to purchase a Ruger Mark IV Competition. I love the aesthetics and mechanics of that specific pistol. Would love to see that and a combo of different type of rounds. Also something interesting like a Olympic/competition rifle, something out of the norm.
That bullet drop was drastically exaggerated. You're not aiming flat. You're aiming down so the entry point will definitely look different compared to impact on the target inside the van.
Nice video. I'd like to see gel block behind the door to give better idea of power after punching thru the door.
This deserves a part 2 with rifle
..
A smith & Wesson governor would be a fun one to try out
I want to see if CCI Mini Mag(40 grain, round nose) penetrate both doors and how much speed(fps) comes out.
My point is, if shoot with a pistol, Mini Mag(40grain) will be a subsonic or not.
It's a low supersonic ammo if it is shoot with rifle, but if it is shoot with pistol, it could become a subsonic ammo.
How about a CCI Mini-Mag .22LR and also a CCI Fully Jacketed .22WRM fired from a hand gun? Also, through the windshield into a front seat target? We used a 3/4” Plywood human equivalent for our windshield tests.
THEY NEED TO MAKE AIRGUNS LIKE THE VSO THEY LOOK SO GOOD AND THE MODS TOO
Super cool looking .22 pistol.
Lee Enfield 410 smoothbore with a slug shell.
Got to do some 5.7. Some 458 socom, 338 lapua, 50 cal Friday! I like these vids. I find them interesting. Good stuff fellas.
.22 mag from both a handgun and a rifle. You can get true FMJ in .22 mag, vs just plated projectiles from the .22lr.
Yes can you please shoot the judge or the Circuit Judge some people call it the governor I believe it shoots 45 Magnums and 410 shotgun shells. I'm most interested in range and what will work the best as far as more than one round in a short. Of time. Huge fan keep up the good work and the great content brother. Peace
Great video. What is krinking?
38 SPEC, 9MM, 10MM, 45ACP, 45 COLT, 50AE; 17WSM, 222 Rem, 5.56 X 45, 7.62 X 51 to start with!!! Next time use a hyper velocity 22lr plated RN...
REED POND 10mm is more powerful than .45 acp actually
Very good concept..im considering 20 guage over 12 because of recoil.. Would you consider testing slugs? Let me know. Thanks
Do a Ruger SR22 with CCI mini mags. A lot of women use that
I would like to see a test of how level II body armor works against a 5.56 that has to penetrate the equivalent of a outer house wall. My theory is that such a wall will slow down a 5.56 and cause it to tumble or fragment so that even a level II body armor can give some form of protection. In short, if you are inside your house with a level II body armor and somebody fires a 5.56 at you is the body armor useless or does it offer some sort of protection?
Destyvirago Some tests have shown that .223/5.56 travels at such a high velocity that the bullets often vaporize upon hitting wood studs. Its often very difficult to find the bullets. Same as when they hit meat, they kind of explode.
soft body armor is 357 mag compatible so if the wall slowed it down to a thousand or so miles per hour yes it would help now I feel kind of stupid but I don't know anything cool smart or funny
Level II isn't.
No man lol 223 and 556 out a 16 in barrel is going through that like butter
I would like to see a 17HMR rifle shot. My prediction is first door penetration with multiple splatter on the inside target, and no penetration of the far upholstery . That's my prediction and i'm sticking with it.
Pretty Cool Video Series idea..... Thank You.
Cool video. How about 300 blackout subsonic through a pistol or SBR?
How powerful is it can determined more accurately by using the most powerful rounds.
Since you were testing the 22lr why didn't you follow up with a rifle to see the difference in velocity and what that amounts to in penetration ?
Interesting video and well done, just would like to have seen a rifle shot.
Appreciate the effort to put this out...
It will be a separate video.
Nice video would have been cool to see you guys use all different kinds of 22LR Ammo CCI Stinger Aguila super max Interceptor etc...
It will get the job done ! They flinch when pops go off
Use cci high velocity and at least a 9in barrel. Also, try it through a windshield. I think you'd be surprised by the results...
I'd like to see the Kel Tec PMR30 22mag. It seems to have a good amount of punch power! Keep up the good work guys
It takes more than one shot to make a proper assessment.
Man that thing is quiet by itself
I wouldn’t mind seeing the same test with 6.5 Creedmoor and .338 Lapua, and if you really wanna get interesting maybe 300 Blackout Subsonic vs. Supersonic
Who makes this gun? Make and model? I truly wish you wouldve stated such
A 1" piece of pine is an old standard of "going through a body"... maybe have that in the testing process somewhere?
Fun fact-If this video is played unobserved then the bullet creates only one slit. Try it.
Everyone can underestimate it until they get shot by one
4:36 I do not see a hole in the van, the whole thing is ripped to shreds
he shot it in a downward direction to begin with...
You got me fired up, a human body is much more dense than a cardboard target
10mm, 357 sig, and 7.62x25 penetration test would be interesting
460 Rowland is a must!
Isn’t that the most badass .22 i ever seen?
I'm scouring comments to figure out what it is
Is there such a thing as a double long with double charge and one and half to double bullet in a .22 ? Would a .22 double long be a good or bad idea? What is the difference in .22 mag to long rifle?
CCI stinger or mini mags out of pistol and rifle. Also would like to see some 9mm pistols vs carbines. 10mm pistol as well to compare against the 9.
I don’t understand how something that can go through a van door won’t STOP an assailant. If you hit me with a nail gun in the stomach, I don’t see how I could really sustain an attack.
Trying to use a Spray Teflon in the bullet, increasing the penetration power, good video!!!
Are you from the Barnesville area. I have an apartment in St.C and haven't been able to find a decent range in this area
what kind of 22lr is that pistol it looks like a ruger but the build is insanely awesome
Michaela Bedonie it’s a volquartsen, amazing pistols but they start around $1200 or so.
38 s&w 38 spl 357 mag 41 mag 44 spl 44 mag 45 colt 45 acp 9x18mm 7.62x38 25 acp 32 acp 9mm out a rifle 45 acp out rifle
All that glass and mirrors and light lenses, do beckon me in the same situation given. I admit.
“22’s are better than a rock or a stick if its all you have” to that I say, ever thrown a rock through a van?
You do realize that ninety percent of your show could be solved with a couple of handbooks and a calculator.
He is shooting DOWN at the vehicle. Of course it hit lower.
How Dare you Destroy a Caravan?
The paint missing is because it drags the metal back with the bullet and it separates
I have a Chrysler, I feel like shooting it too.
I had a dream that I was carrying a .22 as my weapon fir bounty hunting. Lmao.
And I want to see Aguila Interceptor, one of the most powerful round.
I'd wonder about the same test shooting a couple inches higher with better ammo , stingers ect and also a shoot with copper plated rds . Thinking the plated rds may hold together better though both sides of the van.
Is it Windows Firewall? Then it will pass for sure, this is probably something better.
Oh and don one with 22 magnum and 22 tcm. There are pistols and rifles for each caliber.
what happen to the 10mm? how powerful is it
Love this channel. Didn't care for more van science
What weapon set up are you exactly using please
Car guy here. calling a door a quarter panel is like calling a magazine a clip...
awesome vid. id like too see how a .380fmj fairs against your van wont get picky with barrel lengths but around 3" would be a good generic test.. fyi I carry a glock 42 as a back up.. 3.25" barrel
Our 380 video is up
The VSO Gun Channel awesome!
I enjoyed the video but what is the point of getting the velocity if you're not going to calculate the foot pounds of energy?
Little to close to the firewall, when shooting for my comfort. Were you not worried about a ricochet?
No
It's sheet metal, not steel plate.
CCI Stingers @ 1640fps might be a better ammo
I laugh my ass off when these .44 magnum or even .45 acp, shit, even .40 s&w guys act like a fucking 9MM! Is not suitable for PD, lmao. Like, a fucking .22 will kill the shit out of you.
“Oh but that one time a drugged out lunatic took 15 9mm shots to the chest” yeah, okay, these stories are few and far between. “But muh stahpin powa!!” Bro. A .22 is a lethal round. 9mm is certainly even more powerful. 9mm is beyond deadly even at 400m. IV888 did that test
That's a door not a quarter panel.
Great video. Thank you. Though not the best defense round...I have a little more confidence in the .22LR. thanks to this video.
Did you guys do a similar test with a rifle? Would the cci mini mags have had better results? Do chickens really cross roads or take UBER? (Scratch the last question)
Don’t discount the 22 mag I believe Nixon Or one of the other presidents out there had an assassination attempt made on him with a 22 mag took his serviceman who got hit 4 ft back and landed him on his back with I believe one or two shots
great video
