    Why do gun guys make fun of 22 for being a glorified bb gun? It's pretty powerful from what we just saw here. I'd say that's plenty for self defense.

    Alright, I beg to differ on your assessment of the firewall. The round DID go thru, and what you're seeing is a layer of wool that is used as sound deadening and fire proofing. Firewalls are made to stop FIRE going into the cabin, hence the name "firewall". The steel may be a little thicker but not by much. Get a stick and poke that hole and you'll see.

    People that use the 22lr pistols for defense typically do not use the garbage bulk pack rounds. They use stuff like Aguila 40 grain Interceptor that gets about 1100 fps from this barrel length.

    .22 are cheap, low recoil, and fun to shoot. However it is still lethal if you shoot at living targets, I would recommend .22 rifles for aiming practice and .22 pistol for self defence, the low recoil improves aiming and the cheap price are good for starters. It is not good for long range by the way because the initial speed of it sucks.

    • @thesanctuary225

      federal standard (automatch) is a lead round nose ammo.
      It's a kind of round nose bullet.
      But it's a little weaker than FMJ(full metal jacket) or JRN(jacketed round nose).

    Dude, you must do the .22 long rifle itself, not just the pistol. Also, you gata do the different rounds(mini mag, ultra sonic, high speed, bulk ammo, etc.). Also I would love to see a shotgun through a car. Other than that, a great target to shoot that I have seen on another channel was a stack of plywood. Maybe a foot long by a foot high, stacked to about 7-10sheets. Then taped together so that you can easily tale em apart to see how far the bullets travelled.

  • @jaredgreen5840
    @jaredgreen5840 7 лет назад +16

    I know there is a plethora of .22 ammo available out there but you should try the Aguila Interceptor, I've personally found this particular load to be hotter than CCI's Velocitor.

    • @nickmotsarsky4382
      @nickmotsarsky4382 6 лет назад +2

      Yep, they typically shoot 50 to 100fps faster than the Velocitors in all length barrels.

    • @calangel
      @calangel 6 лет назад +2

      Nick Motsarsky they do. The veloc9tor seems to really need to get 20" barrels or longer to actually get the 1435fps rating. The interceptor will get 1400fps easily from standard 16" barrels

  • @josephruiz8358
    @josephruiz8358 6 лет назад

    The reason why the round hit the target inside the van lower then thru the door is because anytime round is fired thru something solid it changes the trajectory along with the velocity. That's why I never recommend firing thru windshields, doors, or anything for that matter. Because it will most likely do that.

He was also one of the men who went and took back the only successfully invaded American land in the forgotten war (Aleutian Islands) my grandfather could shoot the eyes of a squirrel from 60 yards out with a 22! It’s always been my favorite caliber I don’t care what critics say

  • @SilvaDreams
    @SilvaDreams 6 лет назад +5

    The .22 did go through the firewall, it just didn't go through all the back padding behind it.
    But a general good show that the .22 isn't nearly as weak as people think, I still find people who think a .22 can't kill you even if you shoot someone in the eye (If anything that is more lethal because it would bounce inside the skull)

  • @xXxtoodeeepxXx

    At around the four minute mark they mention a few things about the trajectory going downward, the bullets impact point and angle and deformation of the round upon the entry sequence effects the downward travel of the projectile..like older day tank round that had a softer head for the penetrator inside to have a more stable and solid point of entry

    I want to see if CCI Mini Mag(40 grain, round nose) penetrate both doors and how much speed(fps) comes out.
    My point is, if shoot with a pistol, Mini Mag(40grain) will be a subsonic or not.
    It's a low supersonic ammo if it is shoot with rifle, but if it is shoot with pistol, it could become a subsonic ammo.

    I would like to see a test of how level II body armor works against a 5.56 that has to penetrate the equivalent of a outer house wall. My theory is that such a wall will slow down a 5.56 and cause it to tumble or fragment so that even a level II body armor can give some form of protection. In short, if you are inside your house with a level II body armor and somebody fires a 5.56 at you is the body armor useless or does it offer some sort of protection?

    • @Capt_Killingfield
      @Capt_Killingfield 7 лет назад

      Destyvirago Some tests have shown that .223/5.56 travels at such a high velocity that the bullets often vaporize upon hitting wood studs. Its often very difficult to find the bullets. Same as when they hit meat, they kind of explode.

    I'd wonder about the same test shooting a couple inches higher with better ammo , stingers ect and also a shoot with copper plated rds . Thinking the plated rds may hold together better though both sides of the van.

    Is it Windows Firewall? Then it will pass for sure, this is probably something better.

    Oh and don one with 22 magnum and 22 tcm. There are pistols and rifles for each caliber.

    awesome vid. id like too see how a .380fmj fairs against your van wont get picky with barrel lengths but around 3" would be a good generic test.. fyi I carry a glock 42 as a back up.. 3.25" barrel

    I enjoyed the video but what is the point of getting the velocity if you're not going to calculate the foot pounds of energy?

    Little to close to the firewall, when shooting for my comfort. Were you not worried about a ricochet?

    CCI Stingers @ 1640fps might be a better ammo

    I laugh my ass off when these .44 magnum or even .45 acp, shit, even .40 s&w guys act like a fucking 9MM! Is not suitable for PD, lmao. Like, a fucking .22 will kill the shit out of you.
    “Oh but that one time a drugged out lunatic took 15 9mm shots to the chest” yeah, okay, these stories are few and far between. “But muh stahpin powa!!” Bro. A .22 is a lethal round. 9mm is certainly even more powerful. 9mm is beyond deadly even at 400m. IV888 did that test

    Great video. Thank you. Though not the best defense round...I have a little more confidence in the .22LR. thanks to this video.
    Did you guys do a similar test with a rifle? Would the cci mini mags have had better results? Do chickens really cross roads or take UBER? (Scratch the last question)

      Don’t discount the 22 mag I believe Nixon Or one of the other presidents out there had an assassination attempt made on him with a 22 mag took his serviceman who got hit 4 ft back and landed him on his back with I believe one or two shots
