  • In this video, I get a full tour of the WyoTech Diesel Technology program with Shawn Nunley, the Vice President of Training. WyoTech has one of the nation's top diesel technology shops. In this core program, students are introduced to a wide range of diesel engines and power systems. This program will prepare students to join the workforce in any industry that they chose. WyoTech consistently produces the best and brightest graduates in the industry and they are highly sought after by the nation's top companies. Students in the Diesel core program will get hours of hands on training with 60% of their time spent in the shop. I was totally blown away with how WyoTech teaches their students everything they need to know in just 6 months!

I went through auto technology at my vo-tech in early 90's. This is a lot more equipment than when I went through it. Of course in 30 years technology has changed a lot. Thanks to Wyo-Tech for allowing you to go through the building and show us what the students do. Very nice.

I went through the Automotive program at Wyotech in 2004. I had some great instructors but you could tell there was a lot of shady stuff going on under Corinthian colleges. The classes were really expensive but they were running a full day and night shift of classes so you know they were making a ton of money. If anything broke in class or if any tools went missing the students were charged for it directly on top of their tuition. Also, when I got out of the program $27k in debt the only positions I could get hired on at dealerships were cleaning the building. (I eventually did get a position that was half porter, half trainee and was able to work my way up). Corinthian colleges got sued over predatory practices and was forced to sell Wyotech thankfully.
I hope Zenith values it's instructors and students the way they deserve. I learned so much from so many great instructors who were really the heart of the programs. I still remember their names and stories along with so much automotive training. Also, Wyoming is a beautiful state. I need to go back and visit again. Haven't been since 2004.

Hi Zeth, loved this 2nd part even more than the first one! When I was an apprentice back in the 70's, we did not have access to a fantastic facility like this Wyo-Tech one. We had to rely so much on learning on the job which was good, but took a lot longer to learn some of the non common faults that would occur. I am so glad you got to go back and visit and take the family with you, and I am sure Wyo-Tech also feels proud to have you back and see the results of the training they have provided. Thanks as always.

Great job showing who tech. I was a diesel tech got my degree in Nebraska. Worked at John Deere then into the semi trucks side and that where I stayed now retired. Very impressed by what Wyo Tech is trying to accomplish. Very impressed with work ethic at JD and video’s.

Zeth, when your body can't take it no more you can be an instructor and help people out. Great video as always. I think WioTech would be a great place to donate money.

That fault board is next level! I can't stress that enough. Read your information as given to you from the Manufacturer and then apply in a real world type situation. This alone can take someone who is maybe not connecting all the dots and really help them out. This alone gives Wyo-tech an advantage in the teaching world.....

Lots of changes since I was there in 1989! It just as awesome, and the fundamentals are still the basis of everything! Learned so much working as an instructor under Jim 6 years later. Was one of the best life choices I made to attend WyoTech and and is still serving me well into retirement. I can still work on anything! Great Video!

Thanks for another great video ZK.
    It was interesting and enjoyable.
First of all very nice to meet your family. Your have a great family and nice they could join you on this trip.
    My best to your family.
Wyotech is quite the place. Wow. What an excellent facility. Students get a good background here as they join the working world.
Nice you were invited back to see what has changed since you went there.
I can imagine you enjoyed seeing the current programs. I can see where all this fits into your employment with John Deere.
You most certainly are a leader in the industry. My compliments to you for what you have accomplished.
Thanks for taking us along. Most interesting.
    Thanks

Wow, these schools have really changed since I went to a vo-tech.
The day one stops learning is the day one is deceased. Wonder how difficult it would be for an older generation to go back to school?! Very cool school indeed. Cheers :)

Diesel engines are as simple as simple gets. We have just over complicated things now haba , John deere , case, claas, they are all the same. Just depends who's program you have on the laptop ! If I had more access to programs I'd fix everything of mine.
