On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

Flanker is more comprable to a F-15, flanker is a true multi role aircraft where as the F-16 was built more so as a light strike fighter with multi role capability which explains the quite extensive size diffrence.
it's the size of B-17 Flying Fortress, look it up
F15 is like an mig 29 flanker is a bit like f14 size
Flanker is a really giant airframe.
Impressive the way GS can switch between standard and metric units seamlessly. I would definitely need a notebook for altitude/MARs, different missiles, ect.
It’s certainly taken practice lol I can’t lie it’s been difficult.
In aviation metric and imperial is routinely used. In fact ICAO countries have clearly defined units of both metric and imperial for different situations. All pilots and air traffic controllers conform to the same standards. On top of that there is a book of standard phraseology associated with the use of differing units. Use outside of standard phraseology is forbidden. It is constantly being amended. The system works incredibly well.
In meters vs feet it's roughly a third. So 10000 meters is roughly 30000 ft. Miles vs kilometers it's 62 to 100 so it's roughly 3/5 . So 6 miles is a little less than 10 kilo meters. It's rough but close enough. Hope it helps
Being Canadian helps. Most of us use a mix of metric and imperial as a day to day thing.
@@glenncooper3524 i'deed, but in aviation knots and nautical miles are used, equaling approximately 1.8 km. Rule of thumb is you multiply by 2 minus 10%.
Great tactics by GS turning off Radar and situational awareness. F-16 wasn't aware it was a fox 2 so he didn't use flares. But really impressive from the Falcon, holding on for so long.
Wonder if today's advanced fighters have an automatic system for recognizing the type of missile launched.
@@user-lb7uf1ic9gwell between an RWR and missile launch warning system you can determine it was pr wasnt a radar guided missile and you can chaff or flare accordingly. Ive also seen someone posted on one of these videos that chaff is almost useless against modern radar guided missiles so many pilots opt to carry more flares.
@@user-lb7uf1ic9g Su-57 is said to have something like this - it has an automatic missile defense system that blinds the IR trackers. Not sure about the others.

I'd love to see videos where you both commit to the merge prior to the fight, so you engage BVR and but the moment you cross the MAR you just head to the merge and dogfight it out so we can see how the aircraft both perform under different circumstances.
Would love to see both sides of the battle at some point! Switching back from your coms to his coms in real time, seeing how both parties respond to the other's fighting.
If possible, can DCS allow for a 1 Vs 2 dogfight? I would love to see the hypermanouverability of an F22/ SU-30SM perform whilst outnumbered and under the pressure of multiple bandits in that situation
Its an open sandbox he can take on as many enemies as his pc can render

The F-16 is an old plane technically, but so is the Su-30.
Ya but this the block 50/52 viper where are this is the SM su30.
Also consider f16 first flew in 1974 vs the su30 first model which was in 92 so the su30 is deff a newer aircraft by like almost 20 years ignoring upgrades.

As GS mentioned once in his earlier videos, the trick when flying the flanker is to be sneaky. Using IRST in this situation is genius. F16 didn't have a chance.

Yeah, the Sukhoi probably has the better radar. But the Sukhoi RCS is so much more massive i wonder which aircraft actually gets lock earlier

Would the upgraded Block 70/72 with the more advanced APG 83 radar & AMRAAM D3's with the better seekers have had a large effect on this encounter ?
i think it would make it fully the equal of SU30, if not better. 120D is a better missile than R77-1, if slightly
Don’t forget low observability. I’d imagine that weakens the effectiveness of TWS locks.
It would make it more competitive but not better
The AMRAAM-Ds would be the relevant thing here. The ability to just launch the missile and let the AWACS guide it in would be massive, especially when combined with the off-boresight launch capability.
The Viper could just sit in a notch against the Flanker, let him come close in an attempt to get a lock, and then when it's in AMRAAM range the Viper could just launch, having never even turned on its own radar. At least that's the play I would go for.

I wanna see GS on the other side of this coin trying to take down the SU-30 in the viper. It’s kinda scary to think such a technically old viper can put up such a good fight in BVR. Frankly, if GS didn’t adjust and he would’ve caught a fox 3 to the butt if his flanker more than once in this scrap. I love it, encore in the viper!!

I've been watching it for over two years now. When I see a map that is close to real combat? usually there is a deep-echelon defense on the ground with radars and surface-to-air missiles, not just airplanes. under these conditions, you will still think about where and how to cling to the ground in flight.

Great dogfight, the F16 when flown well can still pose a threat even to the latest generation of Russian aircraft. I thoroughly enjoyed this simulation.
This simulation doesnt take into account any of the air defenses on the ground on both sides in the conflict.
Not everyting is modeled or modeled correctly. Almost Every fact GS is stating about the aircrafts could be followed up with "in dcs" (but I understand why that would be not as dramatic)
The f-16 is constantly being modernized so I don't see how it's impressive for it to go against modern jets if it's also a modern jet?
eh, he was firing double taps and missiles out of range, i wouldnt be surprised if he redone this and beat the F-16 with half the missiles
