Caitlin Clark might not be the biggest snub but for the WNBA it was the dumbest snub. In a league that struggles to break even it's probably not the best idea business wise to not showcase your most marketable athlete in front of the world's largest audience, just think of how many sponsors they lost out on.
Yes you do when she leads the WNB in turnovers and has the second worst plus - minus stat amongst rookies. She deserves ROY but not on a place on a Olympic squad in 2024
@@dansavoie5087 I agree. Clark averages almost twice as many turnovers as any other point guard in the entire league. She's historically bad in that area. She struggles against physical play. The play in the Olympics under international rules is far more physical. The pressure and pounding, which she just can't handle, would have turned her into a perpetual turnover machine if she ever were allowed to play significant minutes. Getting "snubbed" was the best thing that could have happened to her because it allowed her fans to continue to fool themselves that she would have done well.
Amelia Campbell was WELL short of the Olympic standard distance. It's 18.80m and she threw 18.18m as her best? Yeah that's not even close. I wouldn't have selected her either. Too bad she can't convert energy from whining into throwing, she'd be unbeatable, lol. And Rosie Malone only scored 1 goal in 15 games? Come on. That's only one more than I scored, and I don't even play hockey. Unless she's the goalie that's nowhere near good enough. Georgie Parker is spot on in her assessment.
@@john-tomlinson 2020 Olympic gold medalist Athing Mu didn't make the women's track and field team. World champion freestyle wrestler David Taylor retired after losing in the finals of the Trials.
I think Lydia Jacoby was a crazy miss! She got third or fourth at the Olympic trials, but she was the reigning Olympic gold medalist in the 100 breastroke! Emma Weber made it over her and didn’t preform her best in the prelims. I think Lydia should’ve been picked over Emma even if she didn’t do that good at the trials.
No sound person would leave The draft' all around first pick, the all time leading scorer in the WNCAAB, the one selling out all her products/merchandise, the one selling out her games (home and away), the one responsible for charter flights, the one responsible for the WNBA's multi-mega-millions of dollar deals with big TV/Streaming services, and maybe other things I may be forgetting, From Playing An Event Surely To Draw MAJOR International Attention And Attendance, it is mental. Caitlin Clark has fans across the seas already, the nasty olympics would have put the tens-of-millions-of-dollars-in-debt-WNBA league on a higher level, higher than Caitlin has brought it already, which is very high. Insanity.
Sorry but this video is just ridiculous. Some Sports require an athlete to meet performance standards in either times or distances achieved, as listed by The Olympic Qualification standards. If the athlete fails to achieve those standards, or the additional alternative qualification requirements, they do not get to go. Obviously, some Team sports have the athletes selected on "playing ability" and that is up to their Sporting Body, as long as the Team has met its qualification requirements. Other factors come in to play as well that are subjective: fitting in to team playing styles, individual presentation etc. Yes, internal politics of that Team Sport can also apply and the controlling body of that sport just might not want their sport represented by certain players with maybe negative public presense. I love athletics. Ran Track (1500m) but also failed to qualify for the Olympics. (Of course being aged 69 and having times no where fast enough, could explain my non-selection. LOL)
Initially I agreed with leaving A Morgan off of the team. But after watching all the games I think she would have been a better choice than C Dunn. Same with Taurazi and Clark
I was disappointed Athing Mu didn't make it somewhere. I know she fell but they could have put her on a relay team but maybe she didn't make that either.
She had a lot of time off then surgery then didn't compete up until the fall if memory serves, so quite a few athletes who had put the work in and made the trials etc was selected.
Making the US Olympic team is all about performing at the Trials, and Mu picked the worst possible time to fall. Carl Lewis is one of the great anchor runners in the history of the 4x100, but he was left off of the 1996 relay because he finished eighth in the 100 at the Trials.
Since you are talking about American professional basketball players of the men and women,, rugby professional players of the men and women, and professional baseball players of men and women are entirely different to compete for team USA depending upon matching the personalities with the best players that the spectators, like myself had read...so it is what it is, and tt is still basketball 🏀 season and baseball season too leading up to Championship... Others, track and field, there is no bye nor Olympic champion, everyone must compete and land in the top three spots, including Olympics standard that evolved by World Leading Record and World placement of each athlete according to the rules and regulations of the Olympics Committee... And that is why athletes are dismayed, bewildered, and disappointed to miss out on the Olympics that's every four years for the summer and winter... Thanks for sharing your insights and point of view!!!
If an athlete doesn't meet even the B standard for qualifying then should they really be there. It's hard to qualify for the Olympics for a reason. It's even harder when you get there.
Good for Arike & i salute her to exempt from Team USA coz of the rude, nasty & mean CReeve's (& co.) treatment! Jordan & Bryant (in their prime) gave chances to the young guns unlike Dinorausi, Drugfelon, Leflop, Durantula etc.

Snubbed? I object to your characterization as an athlete being "snubbed". As good as these athletes were, the team is moving on. They didn't fit in the current mix. That isn't being snubbed, unless of course, you are alleging that they were dropped when they did fit in on the team because the new coach didn't like them for some reason. If someone was "shafted" (that is, snubbed without a look), then maybe but not just because they were left off the current roster.

Envious of what? Jealous of what? Racist how? The coaches chose the team not the players. Everyone doesn’t see it the way you do. They are there to win gold medals, not when popularity contest. So far they haven’t been correct. They played the games for years and they know the league. No envy there. Racism is based on power not color. Not one black player or coach carries power. So it’s not racism. Which in reality does not exist, because there is only one race: humans.
