  • Republican Senator Glenn Gruenhagen goes off on insane rant over the need for creationism in schools during wild hearing. John Iadarola and Viviana Vigil break it down on The Damage Report.
    Read more here:
How Mike Johnson Helped Open The Door To Creationism In Louisiana Public Schools - www.huffpost.com/entry/mike-j...
"Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-La.) elevation to the heights of the U.S. House of Representatives marked one of the most significant achievements of the religious right since its splash onto the political scene in the late 20th century. It had successfully placed a true believer who worked inside its movement into one of the most important political offices in the country.
And with him, he brought the bona fides of a record of advancing one of the movement’s most important goals: putting Christianity back into every facet of public life.
Johnson has a long history of supporting and promoting creationist causes, acting as a lawyer for the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter in Kentucky where dinosaurs are seen as passengers on a re-creation of Noah’s Ark, as previously reported by HuffPost. But perhaps most important is his key role as a lawyer for the religious-right forces in Louisiana, which successfully passed legislation enabling teachers to inject creationism into public school classrooms and aided his rise to become speaker of the House."

Faith in the unknown is fine unless you're pretending only your sect gets that 'special privilege'. Conversion = Brainwashing. If you need to start brainwashing kids because you can't recruit adults: That's not a real form of religion. Religion simply means something you are consumed by. Scientists seeking green energy technology solutions have their science as their religion. There's sports athletes who train to become great in their 'religious' activity. Indoctrination on obsolete scripture is probably what you intended to mean. But it is the lack of clarity among atheists who feed the opposition evangelicals. One serves the other. Claiming to know the unknowable. Makes A Wholes of many.

For instance, Catholics, from Pope John Paul II, are supposed to follow the Science of Evolution and the Big Bang (the Big Bang was first found in Einstein's theory by a Jesuit Priest). So "teaching" Catholic kids Creationism in public schools is a violation of their religious rights.

I was home schooled, and there is no testing and extremely little regulation. My mom made sure that she was at least giving a real education, and even she was extremely critical of most parents who home school.
Home schooling has a lot of anti-government conspiracy theorist participating in it, and so over the decades they have allied with groups that have the political power to prevent and standards in home schooling. Groups like the Heritage Foundation like how it takes kids away from public schools, and they make sure that the GOP covers up the extremely bad standards that home schooling is held to.
Also, home schooling doesn't actually produce diplomas, which is one reason I am actually against people home schooling without any group that does give a diploma. It sets their children up for more problems in life.

Nope, sorry Glenn. In 1987, in Edwards v. Aguillard, the U.S. Supreme Court held unconstitutional Louisiana's "Creationism Act". This statute prohibited the teaching of evolution in public schools, except when it was accompanied by instruction in "creation science". The Court found that, by advancing the religious belief that a supernatural being created humankind, which is embraced by the term creation science, the act impermissibly endorses religion. In addition, the Court found that the provision of a comprehensive science education is undermined when it is forbidden to teach evolution except when creation science is also taught.

Why do creationists always use the eye as an example of their belief system? If their god is all-powerful and infallible, why is it that more than HALF of people have eyes that don't work properly?

Exactly. If we are made in the image of God, why don't we have night vision? Why can't we see ultra-violet light? Is God unable to see in those spectrums?
