How Mike Johnson Helped Open The Door To Creationism In Louisiana Public Schools - www.huffpost.com/entry/mike-j...
"Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-La.) elevation to the heights of the U.S. House of Representatives marked one of the most significant achievements of the religious right since its splash onto the political scene in the late 20th century. It had successfully placed a true believer who worked inside its movement into one of the most important political offices in the country.
And with him, he brought the bona fides of a record of advancing one of the movement’s most important goals: putting Christianity back into every facet of public life.
Johnson has a long history of supporting and promoting creationist causes, acting as a lawyer for the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter in Kentucky where dinosaurs are seen as passengers on a re-creation of Noah’s Ark, as previously reported by HuffPost. But perhaps most important is his key role as a lawyer for the religious-right forces in Louisiana, which successfully passed legislation enabling teachers to inject creationism into public school classrooms and aided his rise to become speaker of the House."

The more religious the more ridiculous.
You couldn't think they're ridiculous without the sky wizard making your brain percolate enough to see they're ridiculous.
Men in women sports is ridiculous
Gender change surgery on minors is ridiculous
The democrat party and leftists in general are ridiculous
Whenever they make these arguments, they actually prove why education needs to be better.
Education *is* better now. This guy likely went to school a long time ago, and possibly went to a private religious school or was homeschooled. He's not representative of education or even of most Minnesotans.
The church should be pissed at all the GOP scaring away people from Christianity . That’s all I’m going to say
What is this overwhelming urge that people on the right have to publicly display their ignorance on a non-stop basis?
$$$$$$$$$$ Are made on this stuff.
Separation Of Church And State!!!!!!!!!!
Dude is so beyond nuts he’s shaking uncontrollably.
Separation of Church and Brains
Tee shirt time
👏😅 🙇♂️
“I LOVE the uneducated.” - Donald Trump
Apparently intelligence is not required to be a republican representative. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
There are thousands of creation myths, but they all have one thing in common - zero evidence that they're right.
The greatest threat to progress is religion.
Faith in the unknown is fine unless you're pretending only your sect gets that 'special privilege'. Conversion = Brainwashing. If you need to start brainwashing kids because you can't recruit adults: That's not a real form of religion. Religion simply means something you are consumed by. Scientists seeking green energy technology solutions have their science as their religion. There's sports athletes who train to become great in their 'religious' activity. Indoctrination on obsolete scripture is probably what you intended to mean. But it is the lack of clarity among atheists who feed the opposition evangelicals. One serves the other. Claiming to know the unknowable. Makes A Wholes of many.

“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is a good as your knowledge.”
~Isaac Asimov
#truth
Faith and confidence are quite similar,
religion is the biggest confidence game ever pulled on mankind.
Separation of church and state is real
This senator doesn't understand what a fact is
Never trust a mouthbreather.
This man should NOT be a senator. Why kind of fools voted him into office?
He’s from a predominantly rural district in my home state of Minnesota. It went about 70% for Tronald Dump.
@@davekeyes5589 Can confirm. I live in one of those rural districts in Virginia. Trump signs EVERYWHERE.
Lonely cat ladies.
Republicans
Tax the religion industry.
His body is fighting the bs
He can’t even get the “law” of cause & effect straight - he said it backwards.
Truth.
❤
They let these people hold office.?
It is required to believe in their brand of magic to even be considered for office. You know, just like in ancient times...
He is so religious he would drop to his knees to service the mushroom of his savior, Donald Trump.
I have a rock in my garden that is more intelligent than Republican Senator Glenn Gruenhagen.
the computer wasnt created by scratch by one person it was a evolution of multiple inventions that led to the creation of modern computers
This is why religion has no place in politics this guy is a whacko 🙄
This is also called the 'Watchmaker argument'. The problem is that the watchmaker argument relies on a fundamental lack of understanding of chemistry and physics.
That’s why it works in the South!
The human spine is one of our biggest weak points. The design is so flawed that about 80% of Americans have back issues. Intelligent design? Not likely.
He didn’t even get the law of cause and effect correct.
He's free to believe whatever he wants; but he's got NO right whatsoever to impose his beliefs on anyone, especially children!
A republican talking about science is a waste of air. And, John, you are not a scientist but did a great job of explaining why we need science over religious doctrine.
The Senator is off his rocker. WTF?!
As an retired engineer and someone who is married to a retired research scientist, who both practiced our professional lives in a niche of logic and reason, sometimes you forget, there are a lot of people like this guy. It does make my head spin watching this good, well meaning, but utterly superstitious man of faith, knowing he has a voice, a vote, and real impact on legislation that affects millions of lives.
If you still see them as well-meaning, you are far more generous than I am.
@@John.Not-Jack.Daniels John, I was trying to be nice this morning, since roughly half my family is not unlike this guy, but these backwards people do scare the crap out of me and should not be making decisions that affect our masses.
The scientific method is sound; if religions were subject to the scientific method, their weaknesses would be in plain sight.
Of course, with his comparisons, it shows he has no idea what he is talking about.
Not one piece of evidence to support creationism. Moronic logic!
Sure, we can teach creationism as long as we also teach Agnosticism and Atheism!
Don't forget Satanism!
This is why you don’t sleep with family members
How do people not laugh at superstitious people when the speak.
This dumb line of thinking has been debunked multiple times.
Put the dude in charge of school so I can become a doctor and make that sweet doctor cash. Come into my ER with a kidney stone? Let’s pray. Come in with a severed artery squirting blood? Let’s just bow our heads together and pray. Heart isn’t working well? Transplant, schmansplant. Sing a hymn with me and get on up, shimmy a little, shake a lot, and you’re healed!
He doesn’t understand science at all. The Law of Cause and effect is does not exist.
People elected this guy. Let that sink in.
ALL 435 seats are up for reelection this year! Let that sink in......
NOW is the time to get MAGA chaos out of our govt ! Let's not make this a blue wave, let's make it a blue tsunami !
Glen got the booze shakes.
Because it's a fable. You can teach about fables, you can't pretend they are the truth. A fable is a story that teaches morals, values, descency. It is never meant to be taken as absolute truth or fact. Use your damn heads!
Now how can you dispute this indisputable evidence?! 😂😂😂 💙
Okay, you win! We'll start teaching ISLAM in school!!!
Good point, he does not have the social and intellectual maturity to understand that.
Regrettably, I was a Young-Earth Creationist for 30 years. Indoctrination can be a powerful thing when it's been deeply internalized from an early age. I was finally forced to "deconstruct" my entire worldview, because the trauma of watching Trump take over my own Evangelical community broke my faith in its claims of moral authority. Also, turn out I was trans the whole frikkin' time.
Evangelicals stopped worshipping Jesus once, they gained power and money.
Sigh... And he's a member of the government.
Lies …. Religious psycho babble … and they keep coming back to the eyeball !!!!
His argument is that if something is complex, it must have been “created.”
So, who created the Creator, arguably the most complex phenomenon of all?
That’s what I remember thinking even as a kid.
Basically he's using a VERY poor form of the Watchmaker argument, coupled with Special Pleading. But he's so bad at it he cant even get the Watchmaker part right, and its pretty simple(and simplistic) to begin with.
Clearly a bigger god made god. And an even bigger god made that god and so on and on and on.
Horton hears a Who
Gods did not appear from nowhere. Humans created them.
Jfc that’s an actual senator? He couldn’t argue his way out of a wet paper bag and his apologetics are weak crap.
What made God? We did, of course. We created God in our own image. Fragile. Jealous. Egotistical. Needy. Irrational. Our fingerprints are all over God.
I cannot understand why people need to have this magical figure rule their lives yet want autonomy and self will……I will never get with these people!!
The argument of contingency is the WORST argument EVER.
..... .... 55 seconds in and my brain hurts... what the hell are we paying these people for
I think even Ken Ham would be embarrassed by how comically incoherent those claims were.
Behold the stupidity of our elected leaders!
This guy is the worst creationist ever 😂😂😂
What was the cause of your God?
Oh, look, the watchmaker argument. How... Original. Where there's a terrible argument there must be a terrible maker of that argument.
Glen is the original snake oil salesman.
The 'Watchmaker' argument for creationism should indeed be taught in science classes, so that people can learn why it is misleading and inapplicable.
Think the “Blind” in that title is important. “The Blind Watchmaker” by Richard Dawkins, should be part of all high school logic courses. Too bad those are for the college-bound and not mandatory for all.
Such an obvious low level of intelligence in his arguments.
When it comes to human eyes If a manufacturer made as many defective products it would go bankrupt.
How do you make it to that age and level of authority without having even the most rudimentary understanding of science?
Glen got the booze shakes
Ikr 😅
And he comes off gay
Yeah, and for every reaction, there's an equal and opposite reaction. 😮
This is America and. No one should be forced to do. Something they do not want to do. Please do not let. Zealot The Republican Politicians. Take away no more of your Rights. The Republican Politicians say rules for thee (The poor people) and. None for me (The billionaires and millionaires).
Exactly my thoughts. The ultimate paradox of creationism will always be who/what created god because blind faith wasn’t it.
Who made God? Humans made God, they even wrote a couple of books about it.
Religion: Humanity's oldest fantasy cosplay LARPing campaign settings, ever
And also, perversely, Religion is Humanity's oldest, most dictatorial form of Government
From Tribal Shamans to Pharaohs to Popes to Ayatollahs & Emperors with Heavenly Mandates.
Nontheist government is an entirely new phenomenon in our species history.
Saw something earlier about how if Noah got a pair of every animal on board the arc, then how did it work with honey badgers?
If he want's religion in school, then they need to cover every religion. There's about 4200. But then considering how much idiots like him cherry-pick from their one, no way they're going to cover just one in any real detail.
Not just their own religion, but their own personal sect. For instance, Catholics, from Pope John Paul II, are supposed to follow the Science of Evolution and the Big Bang (the Big Bang was first found in Einstein's theory by a Jesuit Priest). So "teaching" Catholic kids Creationism in public schools is a violation of their religious rights.
The Senator looks, talks, walks and thinks like the quintessential American!
Every effect may have a cause, but that doesn’t mean that the cause was a sentient being.
I can see you've spent little time considering this. What created God? What then created the thing that created God? It keeps going on forever. It's best to not go down this path with people that invest their ego in the answer.
Isn't home schooling still tested and regulated by the dept of education? They don't just say okay they've been schooled at home give them a diploma.
I was home schooled, and there is no testing and extremely little regulation. My mom made sure that she was at least giving a real education, and even she was extremely critical of most parents who home school.
Home schooling has a lot of anti-government conspiracy theorist participating in it, and so over the decades they have allied with groups that have the political power to prevent and standards in home schooling. Groups like the Heritage Foundation like how it takes kids away from public schools, and they make sure that the GOP covers up the extremely bad standards that home schooling is held to.
Also, home schooling doesn't actually produce diplomas, which is one reason I am actually against people home schooling without any group that does give a diploma. It sets their children up for more problems in life.
Tell me you didn't go to a good school and college without telling me..... what a clown
According to his Wiki:
Gruenhagen enrolled at North Hennepin Community College and then the University of Minnesota, where he majored in business. He later received his Chartered Financial Consultant and Chartered Life Underwriter designations from The American College of Financial Services.
"Enrolled" and "majored"... doesn't said GRADUATED. The only accreditation conferred on him is the one from OCFS - which is an online school. Dude is clearly incompetent.
"For every effect, there is a greater cause." That's not cause and effect AT ALL. FFS, this is stuff we learned in third grade 🤦
These people, given enough power could take human civilisation back literally thousands of years... tens of thousands.
The bible is the greatest piece of propaganda ever written.
Oh, gods...
Minnesota, my state, has some of the best education in the nation (not saying much, granted, but still). Why is that so unacceptable to the right wing?
Just imagine growing up with all of your family members just like him ! I did and then I joined the Navy to escape from them ! Traveling the world turned me into an atheist ! Too many gods for this little speck of mud in the vast cosmos for any of them to be "Right" so the correct answer is 0 gods ! Think also about if you were god and all the things you would do ! and then think why your own god hasn't !
I also grew up being force fed this nonsense. Then, I grew up.
Ok, prove your god of 5 thousand gods is the creator. Why one’s creation story, and not the others?
We need better leaders...
I disagree..... We just need less republicans in office
It might help if we stopped pretending that they're leaders and remind them that they are servants.
I disagree...... We just need less republicans
The eyes have it. You win.
His cottonmouth tells me that he’s very very high.
His voice tells me he might have a Grindr account lol 😂
Another skin suit, stuffed full of Armadillo road apples.
it´s weird how USA went to Afghanistan to stop the Taleban and then left Afghanistan in ruins, brought no refugees home, (cause those religious people are so dangerous), they didnt bring the Afghan cusine, but now they all want be the cheeseburger Taleban.
Totally worth it
Wow! That was stupid.
the eye ball.. yet how many people need glasses? Great Creation... my ass
Good point.
❤
Asses are a dubious creation at best, sir.
Who puts the party favors next to the toilet?
@@WindFireAllThatKindOfThing ha, good one 👍
This guy is out of breath from simply trying to use his brain
Did he even try to use his brain? Seems like he failed.
We didn't take their education away they refuse to learn ..teach and grow.
Nope, sorry Glenn. In 1987, in Edwards v. Aguillard, the U.S. Supreme Court held unconstitutional Louisiana's "Creationism Act". This statute prohibited the teaching of evolution in public schools, except when it was accompanied by instruction in "creation science". The Court found that, by advancing the religious belief that a supernatural being created humankind, which is embraced by the term creation science, the act impermissibly endorses religion. In addition, the Court found that the provision of a comprehensive science education is undermined when it is forbidden to teach evolution except when creation science is also taught.
Nothing he said was actual “cause and effect” , it’s not effect and cause!
Too stupid!
The brain rot is real
Why do creationists always use the eye as an example of their belief system? If their god is all-powerful and infallible, why is it that more than HALF of people have eyes that don't work properly?
Exactly. If we are made in the image of God, why don't we have night vision? Why can't we see ultra-violet light? Is God unable to see in those spectrums?
I like the line in the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy about the Babel fish, "god disappears in a puff of logic"
Would love to see how that state senator feels to say "you are right - Allah did make everything"
I think he needs another drink
This guy is clueless. He should look up the word proof.
