Great video. I am thinking about getting one. I appreciate that you left the first attempts on the video. We can all learn from it and be aware in case the same thing happens to us!
Good stuff. Looked like the gyro was armed when you had the plane inverted, so it was trying to "correct" at launch by going inverted. It looked like your elevator was at full down deflection when the plane is in your hand, just prior to launch. The gyro was the problem, then became the solution, but is ultimately a problem. You probably would have been successful without it.
Good job! I really enjoyed watching somebody else struggle to get an rc plane to behave☺️ I have the red tail Volantex P51 model. It's really good in the wind and looks amazing. I wish I could find the proper transmitter protocol so I could control it with a multi protocol like a Radiomaster T18. The little transmitter that comes with it is okay but not vary smooth compared with a nice hobby grade models. Thanks for sharing your maiden!
I have just assembled the Volantex 750mm RTF. I have it together, however I can get the aerolons, reversed, any tips would be appreciated. Tried with transmitter no difference..
I believe you need to, with the plane bound to the transmitter, move the stick that controls the ailerons to the direction you want and hold it there for 5 seconds. That should switch it. Hope that helps you!
@@bert1058 ALMOST the full explanation Bert. The A, E and R stabilization correction directions can be changed as you say. BUT it MUST be done after the plane and Tx are bound BUT BEFORE arming the motor by throttle full up then full down. The gyro can be recalibrated for level also BEFORE arming the motor. Sticks down and out as shown in the manual.
Bumpy and worrying start to the maiden, but it all turned out fine in the end with a nice maiden to a P-51D i should have recognised from your detailing video.(at 1st i thot it was the EXLAX mustang from the box) :) It looks like she's got plenty of power on 2S for hand launches... nice. I just got my P-51 yesterday and she's a beaut! i swapped-in a Volantex Xpilot to bind to my Taranis X9D+ with Frsky XSR receiver. BTW, it sounds like your "spinner/prop" is wobbling/off-balance... i found that messing with the final nut and locknut you can get it balanced almost perfectly! Do small final tightening of nut, then spin prop/hub and look for wobble... when gone carefuly tighten locknut.
thanks for the info and hope you enjoy it as much as I have. I have since fixed my propeller wobble by straightening the slight bend in my motor shaft( must have happened on my first flight attempts) and putting my 4 blade spare prop back on. smooth and calm flying now. I've got 7 flights on mine now and am still working on getting to fly with no stability aid active.
Hey mate, I have the problem with my airplane in that it starts wobbling or shaking around at higher speeds, however on 'expert mode' it's fine. Any idea how to fix the wobble? Thanks
Yeah it took me a long time to move up to war birds without using the gyro. I'm currently flying a 1200mm P47 that I love. I still use the gyro sometimes and they are a wonderful tool for newbies like myself.

@@trdtacoloversuzuki3822 Hello there! I was given a 768-1 750mm mustang without the original remote. I have a dx9 spectrum. I can get all cont surf functional but can't unlock throttle. Please help me.
@@davesehestedt6815 Sorry mate but you are talking rubbish! If your V768-1 Mustang has the original Volantex receiver/stabilizer in it there is no way to work it with anything BUT 1 of the original transmitters. The Stabilization will work (in "mid mode") when powered with no transmitter bound to it. The protocol for this plane is 1 of the very few which CANNOT be hacked for use on the Multi Prorocol Radios. To control it with your Spektrum radio you will have to replace the Volantex receiver/stabilizer brick with a Spektrum receiver.
@@theoztreecrasher2647 just to clarify, it did bind to my dx9 before I put a spek receiv in, just no throttle. Control surfaces did function. I'm usually full of rubbish, but not in that instance. :)
@@davesehestedt6815 Thanks for your courteous reply mate. It shows that at least you are not just the normal ratbag element who tend to proliferate on the internet. 😊 However I will have to reiterate....There are 2 possible scenarios with the plane as you received it. 1..It still had the original Volantex V768-1 receiver/stabilizer brick in it. OR.. 2..That Volantex brick had been removed and replaced with some sort of Spektrum (or Spektrum compatible - like Orange/Lemon etc) receiver. (Either with or without some sort of stabilization capability. Both scenarios MAY have allowed the stabilization to move the surfaces as you wave the plane about with its battery plugged in even if the transmitter you are trying to use is turned OFF! Scenario 1 would NOT allow the sticks on your Spektrum DX9 to move the control surfaces on the plane while sitting still on the ground in front of you UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! Spektrum protocols are NOT compatible with the protocol on the Volantex receiver/stabilizer brick. (It is an AER403 brick if I remember correctly. Google it. monkeyhobby.com had them and the matching transmitters in the past.) Scenario 2 COULD cause the problems that you describe if the replacement Spektrum receiver in the plane and your DX9 were not correctly bound and configured.
Guys new to this, how long can I expect typical 4xAA batts on the transmitter to last? Does the transmitter give off any warning if the AA batts are getting low? Cheers
I finally flying my p51. And I need help. Im using mido mode. But the tail is moving very wierd. Is like doing the doggystyle while flying what happen?
I had the same problem for a little bit. For me the fix was to glue the receiver/gyro down tight so it has zero wiggle or movement inside the plane in its original mounting position.
Yes we all make those mistakes, luckily you where in high grass. Yes on 2 blades it fly's even better and on a 3S lipo its a beast. I have it in mid mode, a lot better banking. and you can do some stunts. If you are not going to start and land on hard surface or short grass I would take the landing gear off. Seeing you like to fiddle, there is a option to put flaps on it, thats why the left shoulder switch is there, its not a rates switch, is for flaps, there is a open port on the receiver for the servo.
Yup. very much so when I made this video. I've got about 50 flights in and have a new plane now so I'll be making some new videos soon. I'm slowly getting better.
No not this plane, after alittle over 50 flights I accidentally left it in stabilization mode and landed into some tall weeds. By the time I walked over to it I found it had been trying to "level" itself and burned up both aileron servos. I'm planning to re use the electronics in a balsa old school model in the comming year.
You have to reset the gyro by pulling controller out and down. Plus this model of the plane is just not that great of a flyer compared to other brands of the mustang

Thanks for watching! You'll enjoy this plane.
Well done. Know the feeling only too well.
Very very nice flight friend
Thanks! I learned alot from this plane.
I eventually moved up to a better plane (800mm Tempest) and have been getting better ever since. 😀
Right eleron should point down with stick over to the left
It's very common with these Volentex park' flyers
Stick all the way to the left. Alaron on the right should point down.
You have to put it in manual or beginner mode.

You lower the stab gain by moving to a lower hole on the servo horn.
The canopy was changed, or stock?! Because now sell the plane with black canopy
Where did u get the blue one? I've only seen the red tail.
