In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

If there's one thing I've learned from Taskmaster it's that eggs are designed to not break when they land on grass
Depends a lot of:
A) the height they fall from
B) the height of the grass they fall into
C) the kind of egg _(there's a reason, why chicken don't nest in trees)_

@@o.b.7217 Re C; Which surprises me because our chickens loved to climb high into our pine trees. We eventually gave up trying to get our chickens back into their home at night because they would get too high to get them down and we only had problems with coons and such in the chicken coops.

Much as I love Alex Horne, Theres just something magical about Paul and Tom as Assistants.
I sill adore Alex, but I feel his presence has grown too big for the Assistant role in recent series. On the other hand, Paul and Tom both give off the vibe that early series Alex had. Love them both.

Underrated season. Josh is generally very good at tasks, Chris comes into peak Taskmaster late in the season, Kura is really cheerful, Paul Ego has some insanely daft moments, Justine has some sass.
Agreed! Not to spoil anything, (for anyone reading without having seen it all) but the task that builds over the season is so damn good, especially Chris’s effort.

The "Enthusiastic Noises" part at the end almost made me cry-laugh 😭😂 there was just sth about them having to put so much passion into such silly noises while building soap skyscrapers.... peak comedy

Out of all the versions of Taskmaster I've watched, TM NZ has the golden head that looks the least like the actual Taskmaster himself.

I've been thinking they should film all TM seasons worldwide in the NZ mansion. it's so big with a pond and a lake, forest and large house so it makes more tasks possible. though, I suppose, that's why they have location tasks in the UK version.

I've seen one set of tasks from this series (the 'best friend' tasks), and to my mind they are peak Taskmaster, especially the twist resolution of the final one. Can't wait to see them in context!

With the egg task im surprised they didn't get them for that line about how your feet may not leave the ground. Two of them went into the caravan.

Yes, and all of them took at least one step, which is quite hard to do whitout taking your feet off the ground. The rule applied only to when they were retrieving the eggs!

@@jordansprague6427 Yeah, but that's not really taking a step, that's dragging yourself. Look it up on any dictionary you'll find something like "the act of lifting your foot and putting it down in a different place" or something similar to that, the key part here being "lifting your foot".
Also, there's no need take my comment super seriously and be defensive about it. It probably came off as a bit snarky or condescending, but my intention wasn't to mock you, just to point out that if the rule was meant to be taken as you implied, all of them would have broken it pretty much immediately.

I still stand at the opinion that NZ is the best among the outside-UK shows. The other country's shows weighed in too much on copying Greg and Alex's relationship, whereas here in the NZ show, there's a different but pleasing mechanic, that only a Jeremy Well and Paul Williams can pull off.

I think it was shown by A. Horne in a very early TM episode that eggs have evolved to be designed to fall on grass without breaking - which was again exhibited here entirely by accident. I theorize a pretty successful effort could have been made by swirling the plate and lowering it - very slowly till the eggs were tossed onto the grass as gently as poss.
Already loving this cast, Paul and Chris jump up as highlights to me. Plus, the team split kinda reminds me of UK Series 9 so it's gonna be great.
Josh Thomson looks like French actor Dider Bourdon and that makes me like him even more!

Great episode! Looks like this will be a really fun season. The exact same golf task was done first by Taskmaster Minnesota (yes, that's a real thing), and with even funnier results.
If I had a nickel for every time a TMNZ contestant wore a Nazi uniform, I'd have 2 nickels.
Which isn't much, but it's weird it happened twice.
