- Taskmaster Tom Gleeson is back, bringing with him his assistant “lesser Tom” and five brand new comedians - Josh Thomas, Jenny Tian, Lloyd Langford, Anne Edmonds and Wil Anderson. In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

The brief moment in the opening when the music cuts out as the zebra hits the ground just got me. 😂😂

Tom's age really comes to affect the weird way he judge
I remember in the "cursed object" prize task he understood cursed as being "jinxed" and the younger people obviously brought "things that look too wrong to exist" and they all got bad grades
Also in musical tasks... He really don't have good taste...
Tom is a terrible Taskmaster. He acts as if he feels left out during the tasks and wants to be a contestant, making jokes RANDOMLY during judging, and in the final judging often judges entirely unrelated to anything he's said before. Either he doesn't understand the role or he's just really all over the place.
Unloaded half a revolver's worth of guesses at anne for the live task causing her to lose.
At uni, there was a poster in my dorm that said “Chlamydia is *not* a flower” 🤣

The way Anne screams whenever a balloon pops but carries on completely unfazed otherwise is so funny to me

If this is the energy they're starting off with the FIRST episode, this promises to be one of the most unhinged seasons of the entire Taskmaster international cinematic universe
Taskmaster AU has been FLAWLESS with it's cast and host so far, they get it

To make it clear straight away, because this will get confusing quickly: Anne and Lloyd are common-law spouses, parents to a very young daughter, and live together, but they are not married. Believe me, this distinction WILL come up.

This is probably one of the more unhinged opening sequences I've seen so far for a new season of Taskmaster.
Probably the best since Jenny Eclair warned Alex to brace during the Series 15 opening.
I was going to say this episode was unhinged and then it hit me we are only 1 of 10..
And nearly the fastest I've been laughing at loud multiple times during a new season

@@ROOKTABULA Perhaps you could instead look at the situation and think, "Hm, 47 people thought that was funny; maybe I'm the one who misread it," and give it a fresh view with a less biased mind. I just made it 99, btw.
(You should also seriously, seriously, very, very seriously consider that these shows are cut, edited, cut again, and sometimes even do retakes of the unscripted parts right on the live show if someone wants to make a funny. It's entirely possible this was one of those moments. Be less judgmental and more open-minded.)

I love Alex Horne and Paul Williams, but Tom Cashman may be my favorite of the Taskmaster assistants. He just has these unhinged moments with a crazed look in his eyes that's befitting of a devil's imp. That side of him really comes out when he's interacting with Jenny this season.
With Tom I never know if he's truly awkward and bad at acting or if he's extremely good at acting and acts the awkwardness. Either way it's entertaining.

As a TM fan that thinks the "paint a horse while riding a horse" task from s1 of TMUK is the best task they've ever come up with, Lloyd's horse based chess is my favorite moment from the episode.

I wish he had redeemed the third hot chips coupon after the task ended. "There's no expiration. I want my free order of hot chips while you set up the next task. Deliver them to my dressing room, two minutes, please and thank you."
Assistants Tom and Paul just make these series for me. I mean obviously I love Alex but these two feel even more like lost puppies I want to adopt.
I love how much lesser Tom enjoys this show and the new contestants are promising, can't wait for more!

I expected someone to catch the "your time starts when you put on your helmet" and just pop all the balloons into something else, then put on the hat and fill the basket.

Similarly, even if they asked you to just put the helmet on right away, I expected someone to dump their basket into their hands or something when they had to discard. As long as the chips didn't touch the floor you could put them back in your basket after

surprised how far down i had to go to find someone mentioning his song, it's SO CATCHY
Isn't the last game a bit unfair? You can only get eliminated if you hear no music, so their order of who does not get to hear it influences the chances of winning.
Much more determinative was contestants' quickness in understanding that the game required not looking like you were paying too much attention to the others, using a dance that could be applied to any music, and especially starting to dance before the music even starts.
That said, everything you need to know is in the task, and fairness was not mentioned in the task.
@LG-uv3lh eh, you’re a bit wrong- you only get eliminated if you don’t hear any music (btw- if you don’t hear any music is the proper way to say ‘if you hear no music’) AND Tom guesses that you’ve not heard music. Take the final round for example: Tom had incorrectly guessed Anne twice in a row and since it was down to 2 people he correctly presumed that this time it would be Anne who wouldn’t hear music.
@@nicholem4831 okay, worded differently: You cannot be eliminated if you hear music. So being the last one not to hear it is an advantage. Hearing it twice in a row in the final round is also an advantage. Yes, the taskmaster must correctly guess that you didn't hear anything, but he can only do that if you don't hear the music. Of course they can still survive the round if they can fool him, but the earlier you have to fool him, the earlier you can be eliminated.
@@nicholem4831you just accurately described why this was unfair. The first round Anne couldn’t hear music (and the final round overall), Tom only guessed Anne due to the statistical imbalance, not because of unbiased task performance
The retro space theme in the Taskmaster house might be the best one we’ve seen.

I think Jenny got caught lying about her height in her profile in that first task.
She kept looking up at the balloon she was aiming at while she was jumping, so the tilt of her head made the bird drop behind her. Once she realized she had to just keep her head forward and not look at the balloons, she was hitting them barely rising onto her toes.
Short people always have trouble on TM.

@@googiegress That's true, it requires them to control their technique and figure out how to use the pin properly (or figure out clever loopholes like Anne).

TM NZ has 3 more seasons I think, so at least another 40 weeks combined with this series. More than enough time to shoot a new season.

Loving the autism rep in this season and the series 5 of NZ, really makes me realizes that I would either be the best or the worst in any season

I think that live task is a bit unfair, they should have gotten points for being able to fool the taskmaster and not just Tom picking anne again and again 3 times until she got outed
I'm gonna take a wild guess and predict that Jenny and Josh will perform _very poorly_ score-wise while being some of the more entertaining cast members this series.
just noticed the kangaroos, koalas and parrots on the Toms' chairs and I don't remember them having these chairs for series 1, nice touch!!!

You have no idea! This season is one of my all time favorites from any country.
I feel like Josh got really underscored on the chess task. Also, there are definitely chess sets out there where pieces have a sword.
Why not give out points for scariest scarecrow and also for birds not entering? Think would have been more fair
The birds not entering felt very random (except for the contestant who added bird seed and the contestant who added a bird).

first episode and contestants are already rebelling against scoring points in favour of attracting birds or eating table sugar bodes well.

I'm so used to just hearing Wil Anderson through the Dollop podcast, and never seeing him actually talk. This is a surreal experience for me!
He laughed at some point during the prize task before he’d been shown much and it was so weird to hear a laugh that I’ve heard SO many times in Dollop episodes, like more than some friends and family. It’s so weird.

I’m a fan of the podcast “The Dollop” and Wil Anderson is one of the funniest guests they’ll have. He’s basically the only Australian comedian I know. I’m excited for this season.
