My type set is complete for my ability... 😆. No Flowing Hair or Trade Dollar. Way too rich for my blood and wallet, but you never know ... Always a great time watching the Coin Geek. Thanks Ben.
In the same way, that people look for split bands on the mercury dime, I look for stars all the way around the shield he almost never find those even in uncirculated coins, many times and that one was perfect. Although they only made something like 50,000 of them, they were pretty fresh dues throughout
The one I'm most surprised about is the Barber half dollar. That is extremely nice for an MS 62. So many nice coins in that group, though. Thank you for sharing them with us!
Hey Ben, Thanks for sharing these coins with us - This is another "CAT'S MEOW" video - but that 1916 SLC is drop dead gorgeous - I don't see that well - but that coin looks nicer than a 65 and seems close to FH. hope I don't get banned for this - but is it possible that some coins come close but no cigar is because the submitter is not known to the grader? I still say from what others have said - that may be true. But, this is an extremely great of assortment of superb coins. Still I think that 1916 deserves a little more love. Best wishes and Thank you to all of Ben's customers that allowed us a pee at their great coins!!!!!
You are my numismatic hero Ben-Thank you for showing these beauties. Love the early American stuff- FYI - I never bought currency or ancients until you made them a bit more interesting and understandable, so I now own a few of each. Thanks Jinx
Thank you Ben,for your effort and love your humor in each video that you do. Thank you for showing me these incredible coins that I almost never ever get to see other than occasionally at a big coin show!🙂
Wow amazing collection 😍 I just got my 1st 1803 draped bust half dollar ❤ It is PCGS VF-25 and I totally love it! My next goal is to get a draped bust dollar next 😅
I was gonna buy a new bronco… then I decided to keep my paid off car and spend that $1200 a month on some great type coins… in my mind the coins will hold their value while the car will be junk in 10 years😁👍
had to drop a giant like after drop and bounce like that. i was laughing to hard ( just kidding around those arent breaking from a fall. even off a building) great video nice!~
Prepping for the SLC show next week. Looking at my inventory . .. that which has stickered and that which has not. Can't wait for the boys to come by the table and attempt to buy all the CAC coins I have for 10% 'back of bid'. Of course, the actual CACG slabs will need to be discounted to the SLC dealers who will be dissin' the "3rd party slabs". Of course, they will then be displayed at their tables for full CAC Guide money + 20% !!!!!
I have just about everything except for the 1793 cents! Certified and straight grades! Nothing under VF. Don't have any gold but got a few cool colonials to mention ❤
Beautiful collection, thanks for sharing. Those early designs are iconic. Flowing hair and heraldic eagle. It's notable how, as you say, the market traditionally allowed straight grades for "shiny" coins, while CAC is holding the line on originality for those 1790s and 1800s. For older coppers, I see where CAC holds the line on verdigris, but it's less clear to me on surface quality. You pointed out porous copper coins, which are common for the era. I've seen pictures of some CAC stickered coppers that had such porosity, so I wonder where they draw the line.
Good case study of just how tough it is to find nice, “original enough” early coins and key dates. 90 plus percent of coins from many early series have been messed with at least once during their lifetimes and key date coins were overly loved by early collectors and regularly cleaned. If CACG becomes the new market standard it’s going to be tough sledding for straight graded P or N coins that don’t make the cut.
Cool seeing the 1800 dime . I have a 1834 dime in natural silver color and a 1820 dime statesofamerica that is very dark grey . Ive seen old silver with the dark finish ? Both are F35/40 ? With the 1820 being rarest
What is bizarre about the Mint is that they realized in 1913 that the "mound" on the Buffalo Nickel would wear out, and so they fixed it...but they failed to do the same thing on the obverse, and then "forgot" to do it on the SLQ until 1925. Very bizarre. It's like Morgan and Barber, at the very end of their careers, forgot how to design coins.
It was James E. Fraser who designed the Buffalo Nickel, and Hermon A. MacNeil who designed the SLQ. Barber and Morgan had nothing to do with the designs or finished coins. Just a heads up.
The best time to really load up on coins and bullion was around 2002-03 spot for au was about $260 ag was I don't know maybe $4-4.50 I didn't know much about coins then but I did get some bullion and a few pre-33 coins
All the coin grading companies come up short with information. Even just a sentence would do. Surface on obv or rev was discolored (or whatever issue) and didn't cross. I'd be even better if they gave you a detailed report such as 1-10 on surface, strike and why it received that grade.
You mentioned that you didn't know if they take Full Head into consideration when they sticker. For what it's worth I have a top pop 1 of 3 PCGS 1917 SLQ type 1 MS67 that did sticker. In '17 the non-Full Head is rarer than the FH.
Once again, I wonder how many of those were holdered with some pvc residue as Mr. Albanese has stated is a common reason for not stickering and many miss when attempting to identify why a coin didn’t CAC.
I love the early coins. It is unfortunate that coins of this quality are disrespected. The grading of the early coins seem to not take into account the way the early coins were minted. Applying quality standards of 20th Century coins to early American coins is in my view and error in grading philosophy. Lovely coins.
While that may be true, alot are original dark cabinet toning. The natural reaction of silver is turn the outer layer black. It doesn't have to necessarily cleaned.
I wish I could afford those early type coins even if they were all G-4's but it's had to spend 700 or 800$ on a coin let alone 3 4 5k on one but there beautiful.
A lot of people "ow" and "ah" over Albanese and CAC, but I'm not one of them. I think you've proven that CAC isn't skilled at grading early US coinage, especially copper. Best to stay away from sending raw early coins to their grading/slabbing service.
I’m anxiously awaiting the inauguration of Old Pueblo Coin’s stickering service in early 2025 for the coins Ben’s highly experienced staff deems worthy of receiving a Geek emblem [🤓] if they believe the item to be correctly graded by any of the other services - and not just limited to PCGS or NGC. Did anyone else notice the porousness of the skin on Ben’s forehead, or maybe it was just the lighting that made it seem so ? 🤔 😲😳😬 🤣😂🤣
I know I've made similar comments before, but I just don't see how it serves John Albanese's business interests to put his seal of approval on his competitors' work now that CAC is a full-fledged grading company. Am I wrong? 🤷♂
I will never in my life spend more money on a coin because it has a cac or any other sticker! If a grading company like pcgs says its the grade thats there opinion , so your just paying " more"for another self proclaimed professionals opinion. The whole thing is stupid imo! Your great though ben nothing against you my guy...
Quite honestly I couldn't give a shit about CAC. If it's graded by ngc, pcgs or anacs I consider the coin to be accurately graded. I don't need their opinion to confirm it. Also beauty is in the eye of the beholder....not the eye of someone else. That's just my opinion....
All that money to get a little sticker. No way in hell I blow my money for a sticker worth nothing to me. I never buy a sticker or a holder for someone’s opinion. I have bought and graded coins from 1968 on. Spending money for an opinion of a kid from Pcgs or Ngc not for me.
Ben the coin geek is THE coin guy on youtube. NO clickbait, just substantive content. Bravo Ben, never change.
Blows my mind that there was once a time when you could buy something for half a cent , history is everything
My type set is complete for my ability... 😆. No Flowing Hair or Trade Dollar. Way too rich for my blood and wallet, but you never know ... Always a great time watching the Coin Geek. Thanks Ben.
I was once just like you my friend. Then I finally got me that Trade dollar! Flowing hair is now last on the bucket list! Keep going!
Love seeing the early coins - bust coinage is what I collect so a bit jealous of all those beauties.
That 1916 SLQuarter is on my bucket list, but in that condition? I was stunned into silence! What a beautiful example of a way beyond rare coin!!
In the same way, that people look for split bands on the mercury dime, I look for stars all the way around the shield he almost never find those even in uncirculated coins, many times and that one was perfect.
Although they only made something like 50,000 of them, they were pretty fresh dues throughout
These early types are some of my favorites... the capped bust quarter and half eagles are probably my favorite 🪙 design.
Definitely coins you do not see every day. I've been collecting for 40 years and I only have one of the coins shown in that date and grade. Good stuff
The one I'm most surprised about is the Barber half dollar. That is extremely nice for an MS 62. So many nice coins in that group, though. Thank you for sharing them with us!

One of my favorite videos to date.. love the early stuff 👍
You are my numismatic hero Ben-Thank you for showing these beauties. Love the early American stuff-
FYI - I never bought currency or ancients until you made them a bit more interesting and understandable, so I now own a few of each.
Thanks

A lot of really nice coins. The nice thing about having a coin store is you never know what is going to come through the door.
Thank you Ben,for your effort and love your humor in each video that you do. Thank you for showing me these incredible coins that I almost never ever get to see other than occasionally at a big coin show!🙂
That 1981 Video was awesome!
Wow amazing collection 😍 I just got my 1st 1803 draped bust half dollar ❤ It is PCGS VF-25 and I totally love it! My next goal is to get a draped bust dollar next 😅
I love the variety in this video. I really like Bust, Seated, and Barber coins.
Fantastic show on many levels! Diversity of beautiful coins, insight on what CAC is looking for, and even grading the various coins. Thank you.
All lovely, but that last nickel is amazing 😍
It was superior. That's foh shore.
I was gonna buy a new bronco… then I decided to keep my paid off car and spend that $1200 a month on some great type coins… in my mind the coins will hold their value while the car will be junk in 10 years😁👍
Love❤️show & tell!
Just made me realize how much work I need to do to finish my Type Set.
Old School graded 1924-S, and 1919-D. Buffalo Nickels. Jack Beymer was Tough on Buffalo Nickel grading!
Hi, Ben. I like the toning on the 1926-D Buffalo Nickel.
🦉
Just a super great munch of coins for all of us to enjoy on a finally Friday. Thanks Ben a munch 😂😅❤ it
The early coins are fantastic. Thank you for sharing these. Just beautiful to see, and these are conceivable to afford, if really hard to find.
Nice showing!
A lot of great stuff! Love early type coins.
Way cool coins !!!!
All fantastical, Ben.
had to drop a giant like after drop and bounce like that. i was laughing to hard ( just kidding around those arent breaking from a fall. even off a building) great video nice!~
Love the video, just mad more aren't for sale!
Excellent show. Thank You!

Okay.... the 1795 H10 may be my favorite 😁
I have just about everything except for the 1793 cents!
Certified and straight grades!
Nothing under VF.
Don't have any gold but got a few cool colonials to mention ❤
Great coins. Thanks, Ben.
Those are some cool coins, Admitly above my budget. Maybe sometime I will be able to get some coins like that.
Beautiful collection, thanks for sharing. Those early designs are iconic. Flowing hair and heraldic eagle. The fingerprint on the 1912 Barber Half might have been the reason it didn't CAC.
Good case study of just how tough it is to find nice, “original enough” early coins and key dates. 90 plus percent of coins from many early series have been messed with at least once during their lifetimes and key date coins were overly loved by early collectors and regularly cleaned.

532,nd. Is mine 😊
Condition rarities scare the heck out of me, like the '32-D quarter - $2,900, $12,500, $85,000 - well THAT escalated quickly!
So much eye candy! Sticker or no sticker!
I come for the bad jokes. The coins are just a bonus.
The 1795 dollar had pronounced scratches on it, and looked cleaned to me. I’m surprised neither one of those things mentioned on the grading.
Denticals. Reeding is on the edge.
Glad I don't have eye denticals.
CAC reminds me of some teachers I had years ago: hard ass graders!
That 1919-D buffalo 5c is definitely not uncirculated. Touch of wear on all high points.
Cool seeing the 1800 dime . I have a 1834 dime in natural silver color and a 1820 dime statesofamerica that is very dark grey . Ive seen old silver with the dark finish ? Both are F35/40 ? With the 1820 being rarest
Dark like the 1806 25 cents coin you showed
What is bizarre about the Mint is that they realized in 1913 that the "mound" on the Buffalo Nickel would wear out, and so they fixed it...but they failed to do the same thing on the obverse, and then "forgot" to do it on the SLQ until 1925.
Very bizarre. It's like Morgan and Barber, at the very end of their careers, forgot how to design coins.
AAAaaand the us mint itself.... here we are in 2023 and the mint is still making awful designs.
It was James E. Fraser who designed the Buffalo Nickel, and Hermon A. MacNeil who designed the SLQ. Barber and Morgan had nothing to do with the designs or finished coins. Just a heads up.
Plz tell me you didn't bounce the flowing hair off the ground ?
The best time to really load up on coins and bullion was around 2002-03 spot for au was about $260 ag was I don't know maybe $4-4.50 I didn't know much about coins then but I did get some bullion and a few pre-33 coins
I wonder what percentage of straight graded coins do not get a sticker from CAC.
Thank you for sharing. How long did it take for CAC to grade your coins? What is the average cost of grading these coins at CAC?
All the coin grading companies come up short with information. Even just a sentence would do. Surface on obv or rev was discolored (or whatever issue) and didn't cross. I'd be even better if they gave you a detailed report such as 1-10 on surface, strike and why it received that grade.
Are those maybe planchet flaws on the 1793 Wreath Cent at 5:56?
Do you charge people when you send in to cac for grading? More than the grading it self.?
Currently we are not sending coins in for customers. But yes we have in the past charged for our time as well.
Sup Ben!
Love the stranger things reference. Great show
Luster ❤
You mentioned that you didn't know if they take Full Head into consideration when they sticker. For what it's worth I have a top pop 1 of 3 PCGS 1917 SLQ type 1 MS67 that did sticker. In '17 the non-Full Head is rarer than the FH.

Does cac charge the same as pcgs/NGC for submissions?
Trade 1878-S WoWzer!
1909-S IHC shouldve been Green Beaned!
I love the early coins. It is unfortunate that coins of this quality are disrespected. The grading of the early coins seem to not take into account the way the early coins were minted. Applying quality standards of 20th Century coins to early American coins is in my view and error in grading philosophy. Lovely coins.
Just out of curiosity, what’s the total value of all these coins combined?
I'd take a guess at............alot!😅
I’m seeing them rewarding old holder’s.
We need a company that stickers details graded coins like "cleaned" coin that clearly are not or perhaps "questionable"
I've seen a lot of darker coins that are that way because of an old cleaning, that may be one reason why CAC doesn't like them.
While that may be true, alot are original dark cabinet toning. The natural reaction of silver is turn the outer layer black. It doesn't have to necessarily cleaned.
@@spartanumismatics8165 Sulfur in its myriad compounds is often the cause of black silver.
Ms62 strikes again 😉
No Soup For You!
10 minutes into this vid and I think someone peed in JA’s cornflakes on the day of review.
I wish I could afford those early type coins even if they were all G-4's but it's had to spend 700 or 800$ on a coin let alone 3 4 5k on one but there beautiful.
no Indian head cents with " acne scars" like the 1877 will ever get a CAC sticker. guaranteed!
*FIRST* 😝
😀 They said you were washed up. You were just biding your time. 🏆
A lot of people "ow" and "ah" over Albanese and CAC, but I'm not one of them. I think you've proven that CAC isn't skilled at grading early US coinage, especially copper. Best to stay away from sending raw early coins to their grading/slabbing service.
I think the sticker is quite the gimic because is no telling how many times or how many people sent the same coin in chasing thatvsticker
@mattmatt6572 I agree. It's all a gimic if you think about it though
Maybe you might want to hold the slab so that we can READ THE GRADE AND COMMENTS! OR ARE YOU MAKING THIS VIDEO JUST FOR YOURSELF?
Thanks
I’m anxiously awaiting the inauguration of Old Pueblo Coin’s stickering service in early 2025 for the coins Ben’s highly experienced staff deems worthy of receiving a Geek emblem [🤓] if they believe the item to be correctly graded by any of the other services - and not just limited to PCGS or NGC. And how many times might some of these coins been sent in chasing that magic green bean? Quite the gimic if u ask me
I will never in my life spend more money on a coin because it has a cac or any other sticker! If a grading company like pcgs says its the grade thats there opinion , so your just paying " more"for another self proclaimed professionals opinion. The whole thing is stupid imo! Your great though ben nothing against you my guy...
that is because a lot of idiots with lots of money would rather have a bright wizzed coin or cleaned coin than a dark coin with natural luster.
Quite honestly I couldn't give a shit about CAC. If it's graded by ngc, pcgs or anacs I consider the coin to be accurately graded. I don't need their opinion to confirm it. Also beauty is in the eye of the beholder....not the eye of someone else. That's just my opinion....
I wouldn’t give cac a cent. They came up with a good scam thats all i give them credit for.
Nice variety, not consistant green bean, 🥲
CAC favors NGC go figure
All that money to get a little sticker. No way in hell I blow my money for a sticker worth nothing to me. I never buy a sticker or a holder for someone’s opinion. I have bought and graded coins from 1968 on. Spending money for an opinion of a kid from Pcgs or Ngc not for me.
