Ben The Coin Geek
Old Pueblo Coin
I been a coin collector since 1968, but I still learn things from your videos.
Hey, me too. First coins I got was from my cousin who was in Vietnam.
Ditto
I been collecting only 12 years since i was 12 and i feel like i just started yesterday
Nice show today Ben. You went through a lot of coins pretty fast I was a little surprised seeing the questionable color on that two cent coin.
Highway robbery on that 2c piece.
“It moves like Jagger” jumping Jack flash. 🙃
always makes the day better when Ben posts
Every day! (Almost)
I think he should call himself been the coin savant. Geeks don't know everything like Ben does. This man is a master.
6:40 PCGS uses code "93" to indicate "Planchet Flaw". Perhaps you were thinking about numerical code "91" which is "Questionable Color". Regrettably, either one of those codes will give the coin an automatic "Details" grade for PCGS.
"slow my breathing as I pull the trigger"
Ben, the Coin Sniper
Amigo geek I like your sense of humor.
That 1868 slick. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I always liked the bust design.I bought an 1824 bust half a long time ago,vf range, only paid $50.The one thing about is that is has a small upside down cross scratched into the field, always wondered how long ago that was done. That low-ball is pretty slick😄
ntc COINS ARE SLEPT ON. I have had some great luck with NTC coins, even sent in a few to CAC including a 1945 D 10c is 64FB cac.
That was such an exceptional coin from the NTC holder.
Ben I have two 1878 reverse of 79 in star holders. I was shocked to see that NGC has only graded 25 in total in star holders. Research always pays off.
Sounds like a winner
Fantastic video Ben. Was haven a hard time trying to figure out how the bust got a cleaned grade it looked great . Ull nvr no what the graders see sometimes.
BEN!Ben!
Nice all around video with good ole American Coins!!!😮
I collect errors and I have a number of them stating "Planchet Flaw" on the label. They are all straight graded. If the planchet was like that before being struck, it shouldn't affect the technical grade.
Maybe they got your coin for questionable color, and didn't note it on the label for some reason.
That 1877 is harsh looking. That's unfortunate about the bust half. I have one I've been thinking about sending in but it might be too bright. Maybe I'll roll the dice. Thanks!
93 is planchet flaw, you're favorite details number is 91 questionable color. I don't understand why something that happened at or prior to minting should be a details grade. Details should be reserved for problems caused post minting.
Another superb Python reference . . . . . . . . .
Indeed!
That 1881s is definitely a 67
Nice coins in the stream Geek,,🤓
Hey Ben, nice coins
Hey, thanks
Tone Loc prolly call Ben the Coin Poindexter 🙃
Hey, Ben! If you have the time, would you mind sharing with us why you think that 1859 IHC was graded 'cleaned'. I agreed with everything else but couldn't see why that one got that grade. 13:10
It was “”too bright” and had spots with dirt left behind making it look like a bunch was removed - I’m not certain I agree - if it had a straight grade I don’t think anyone would have commented
Isn't this the week of the "Great American Coin Hunt"? Or has that ship sailed?
An alternative to cracking the 1937 proof quarter would have been trying for a CAC gold sticker. How do you compare the options knowing you successfully upgraded to a 66?
I think a gold cac would've been the better option
I do think going for the gold may have been the better option
Hey Ben! I was thinking... is NGCX making any gains in the market place? I never see slabs for sale, appears like a flop to me!
That toned peace dollar is $1k coin to someone
To you 🤓?
Hi ben
🏆
Was the SF mint hugely interrupted by the 1906 earthquake?
Yes
Do you have to crack out a coin yourself or can the graders crack it out. I have a coin that I just bought that I just want to get reholdered but I don't want to crack it out myself because it was such a spendy coin (and I don't trust myself lol)
If you only want to reholder it, the major grading companies have a “reholder” service that you can use . Ask the company that your coin is holdered in
BEN. PLEASE show the GRADE on EVERY COIN. You often forget to do that.
😥 sorry- I get caught up in the moment .
Do u accept coins to grade?
He does, but you have to do it in person at his store. They do this to avoid having packages being sent to them lost in the mail, and get confused with their normal inventory. In person, they're able to offer advice, and write up a list of the coin(s) being sent out for grading, while immediately separating them from everything else. I've driven to their store before and had them send several coins on my behalf.
The 1827 was NOT cleaned. What a crock!
