- It's done. Finally. After two years. I finish the body work, paint the helmet, and install all the electronics to make it open up and have the eyes glow.

March 23, 2002. Ronald Finger you master mind it all comes together for the Pontiac. I cannot wait until you finish that car you’re doing such a awesome job and hope to see it in person one day. Keep doing what makes you happy!
Thank you for using my music in your video, Ronald! I'm so glad to be heard alongside Robocatpat, as her work in it is absolutely stellar!
Seriously, her stuff sounds better than mine in the context - it's absolutely perfect for background video usage. My stuff tries too hard to take center stage. dx
Really neat thought process with your touchups! I'd have ever thought to hand paint on the spraypaint.
I love how the intricate painting process relied on the body itself.
The finished helmet is absolutely beautiful. I'm so glad you chose to make it wearable, that little movement is extremely satisfying to watch. I could watch it on repeat for hours. c:
I'm so glad you chose to use my stuff for the glamour shots in the end, it's very rewarding to see it alongside the beauty of the helmet.
You know, my favourite thing about art is considering the process and thinking that an artist applies to ultimately create it.
The watered down black paint application, which some creators may have disliked, is an absolutely beautiful touch and I'm glad you decided to add that depth to the piece! That kinda thing is what's rewarding about art, seeing these little details and decisions that make you unique. Keep being awesome, man!
I am really in awe how you are both creative and technical at the same time.
Now you need to make the rest of the suit. 20yr project, lol
Rubber gloves are a life saver when painting
the hell with Toby, new subscriber and i rang the bell. good job Ron!!!
Coukd you please do a detailed video about the electronics? :)
@@maximmaxim4280 Very nice sugestion...👍
u still need a how to video?
Not sure if any one commented on this already, but when you get that hazy finish after spraying a varnish coat in high humidity, instead of sanding down and redoing everything you can simply respray the varnish after the humidity dies down and it gets rid of the haze and offers a nice, clear finish.
Looks like it was a labour of love, what a great finished piece. My 3D printer is now about to work overtime :)
Magnet are the best for Iron Man Helmet. Because can be put on fast then the only thing you need to hide is the wires for the eyes to glow!
You could absolutely mold that piece and sell it. Make it a garage kit and charge out the wazoo for it and it’ll fly like hot cakes man. Keep it up!
I like the way you put that auto face up and down. Thats awesome.
Nice job, man. You're clearly smart and creative. I would love to see the details on the evolution of the servo faceplate design. The failed designs are part of the journey. I've learned a bunch from your videos, just like I have from ILTMS and other makers. Please keep putting out videos.
Amazing work
People would buy that. A 2 yr lead time may be a problem tho. Awesome job Ron.
It's funny how a helmet take 2 years of your live , nice work
I started watching the fiero series, then this iron helmet one, then, etc,etc....I like your style, you are a smart kid......pls. get a better microphone....
subscribed.....👍🏼
The paint didn't wrinkle because of finger oils, it wrinkled because you applied the clear too soon after you painted the red. The red may have been dry, but it was not cured. The solvents form the clear caused it to bubble.
You are very genius man ....
Congrats dude! That's sick looking helmet. Screen accurate too!
I've been working on a mark 43 gauntlet for over two years now which I finished in time for Infinity War 😂 I 'm planning on building a helmet and it's really cool seeing you finish yours! 👌🏼
Nice build👍
Kiddos just got a 3d printer wanna give this a try good job...👍👍👍
I like your mechanical system
That Is Bad Ass..Awesome Build!
Outstanding work once again Mr. Finger! Yes now do the whole suit, finish the Fiero, and do a video where Ironman drives up and saves your girlfriend in distress! You are a super hero, after all!
Nice work man...
Hey man, mark 42 is my favorite suit. Although the red is more of a maroon on the actual thing. Not too late to fix that though. But good job man!
I like your videos mate but I lowkey find it funny that you have 181k subs but only 62k views. Love your work along with this cool edits at the start and in between your cuts.
Thank you! I had less than 2000 subscribers when this video was released. The only reason people are subscribed now is because of the Fiero series. Not many go back and watch my old stuff.
@@RonaldFingerwell I sub because the Fiero series and did go back and am watching your old stuff. its sick as. I love your work man keep it going and don't change it.

So um..... Night Mind brought me here. However, I still really enjoyed watching the finishing touches you put to the helmet. You’re very talented. :)
YESSSS!!!!
Cool shirt. Go Gators!
Please do . How you did this part .your videos are great
Hey you did some amazing work and I have some ideas for a projects that I’d like to see you make but only when you have the time.
Awesome build, I'm actually doing a full scale mk43 armour and this stuff helps a ton! I am curious though, what kind of spray paints did you use for this?
Well done! Very cool made a helmet! Decent work, I like it! )
Good job bro
Cool video
still a nice project after 2 years! I did not quite got the needed materials for the electronics in the video could you share with me the list for the electronics needed?
Awesome. Should have painted the gold parts black first.
Some alclad and post shading will take that helmet to the next level
Aside from charging the battery, I don't think I ever want to touch this helmet ever again haha
I'm super sorry to keep bothering you, I'm just super novice art electronics. Other than the pro micro board, servo, hinges, and power supply what else would one need to achieve an opening and closing face plate? Also I molded a jaguar snout to my iron manface plate which I can inbox a picture of, was wondering do you think the 20mg servo will be enough to lift the face plate? Thank you for any advice you can share and super thank you for making this video or was greatly appreciated and well needed.
Espetacular 👍✔
What a name
nice intro bro!, and a really great job with your healment
This is great! I want to start to build my own! Obviously it will take a while, but do you have videos to explain the faceplate mechanics?
Great job. You should be proud. You just got one more sub.
Awesome 👍😜
I would have painted everything black after the primer, then silver and masked off the parts that were to be gold. then done the red parts, mask then spray gold. that way all the colours would have poped more and the silver cheeks would have been easier to do as the second base coat is silver.6.6V would be LiFe battery not LiIon or LiPo at 7,4V
Thanks for the tips! I’ll be sure to keep those in mind for future cosplay/prop projects. And yep! I said Lithium Iron in the video
super bro
he faces like pewdiepie
Oh shit finally a RUclipsr that’s in Houston
What about unspeakable Gaming?
honestly you could have left the helmet after you sanded it after painting, it looked really worn down and amazing
Massively Cool by the way.
Fantastic build,
good tip on the oil from fingers, or Finger, haha
do you have your plans available to share so I could print, you have a good design there?
Beside there should magnetic switch
I liturally DON'T see the problem it looks supurb the proportions look spot on and the trigonometry and symetry look acurate, i would say i don't like this modifycation. i prefere the original helmut design seen in the original film, but that comes down to taste,
well done
What shade of Rustoleum 2x red paint did you use please? Awesome work!
Colonial Red! And thanks :)
Thanks for the cool video! I'm in Houston too. Where is that Iron Man mural?
The intersection of Bell Street and St. Emanuel Street!
@@RonaldFinger Thanks :)
cool
Love your video dude. Hope that u can put in the link the 3d print file and hope i can build one. TQ bro..
Could you do a servo tutorial please??
Sure thing, Superman. It’ll be a while before I get to it, but I will make one.
No worries. Whenever you get chance. Thanks
@@RonaldFinger Or just the stl files of your hinge would be amazing!
hell yeah I wanna be a fireman too 1:29
buddy keep that respirator on while sanding
What's that shade of RED? My favorite color by far.
still thinking about the randos that wandered into this series fresh and not from NM
What mechanism did you have to open and close the mask alone? And where do I click or what do I want to make it happen?
Helmet looks great, but man shouldn't you be wearing some kind of eye protection and mask to fight against those fumes and sanding particles? Gotta be safe to do this stuff as long as you can!
Great work! Who needs subs, you would have done this without youtube regardless, right?
So awesome! Can I purchase the faceplate servo kit from you? Are you willing to share the hinge files (STL), or sell them? How about the eyes? Please let me know, I have really enjoyed your videos, and they are very helpful!
Hey mate, did you ever get those files? Can't find the hinge files anywhere for this build
@@tristanceddia8070 nope. Never got the files.
@@DaveMathias well thats very annoying. Thanks for the reply.
the paint you use what is the color code. thank you
Colonial Red and Pure Gold from Rust-Oleum
You remind me of stealth, from TheHeroTutorials! wich is nice
Bien
Ur so cool
jjaja men your clips terror in this video o somthing like that i loved , good proyect
What size did you print it on the 3D printer.
Hey I’m actually trying to make my own helmet. Can you be able to send the code you used to get the face plate to go up and down
Hi what do You use for hinge to servo please because i have this helmet
Do these things have springlocks?
Why not metallic paint?
PS it was december 2015 i believe, jsut watched the video you doing the print. Pretty insane this thing was been catching dust for almost 2 years?!
What servo did you use?
Just a 20kg servo with metal gears!
want to now how you did the mekanics of the face
say hi to brazil
Hello brazil
@@RonaldFinger :0
Sir can you pls share the 3d printed file
I work with a organization that helps abused kids and this would be cool to have to wear and see the kids.
k
Bro this was published on my birthday.
Can you share your information on how to make this build. I want to try and build this(admittedly rushing last minute) to make to take my daughter for her first Halloween
I'm not sure what more you want me to share. I started this build from the 3D modeling phase and covered 3D printing and arguably the most important step, finishing them with bodyfiller and whatnot. Is there something you missed in the series that wasn't covered?
Ronald Finger sorry I should have been more detailed. I meant as far as the electronics and hinge system go. Was there specific design/system/schematics used?
Ronald Finger I would really love a write up/video(preferably) of the electronics portion. I’ve seen a ton of Iron Man masks and this hinge system has been my favorite so far. Incredible work, I’m inspired!!!!!
You forgot to wear your respirator when you spray paint.
Hey thanks, I'll make sure to wear it next time!
Which spray paint is this?
You should have used gloves. Also you should have sprayed earlier in the morning where the humidity was lower.
Yes, of course. I mentioned those things so people don’t make the same mistakes I did.
The whole time I was thinking to myself "oooo he didn't use pre-paint"
How much would you sell the helmet for?
oils didn't make the paint fry up dude lots of reasons why the solvents reacted but oils from fingers is not one of them
Okay! It had something to do with what was on my hands at least. The places it wrinkled were the only contact marks my skin was touching it when I carried it out to the barn. But I think it’s more important to the viewers that the surface of whatever they’re painting needs to be clean and I think that was conveyed.
I want to purchase this. plzz send me the details about it. i will pay for it.
I’m really flattered, but the helmet is not for sale
Can you uplode the hinge of the helmet on Thingiverse? That would be very great. ^^
Any luck with those hinge files mate?
Can you see through the eyes okay??
When you're outside during daylight, you can see perfectly fine, but not much anywhere else haha. I suspect its due to how fine a thread count the fabric is. If it were closer to a mesh, you could see a heck of a lot easier, however it wouldn't be as evenly diffused. There is a happy medium between the two, but I haven't experimented enough to find it!
@@RonaldFinger what is the thread count that you used?
Do you sell casting copies of the helmet? If yes how much do you sell them?
That question is answered in the video 😊
@@RonaldFingerjust wanted to confín that can you sell me one!?
I did not make any copies because I did not mold them. Not to sound rude, but that was explained in the video.
Understood! Man thank you
Do you have the STL for the hinge mechanism uploaded somewhere mate?
Hey Roy. Did you ever get the hinge files?
@@tristanceddia8070 no sir
0:15 WELL THAT WAS AN UTTERLY DISORIENTING OUT OF BODY EXPERIENCE
