    My wedding photographer used GFX in full manual for those epic shots/deliberate shots, and a XT-3 in aperture priority for those candid and intimate shots. We loved them both and picked him specifically for that combination. They say there is no actual medium format magic, but those pictures just have a special look that is consistent with medium format. I was pretty confident he was using a GFX when I was looking through his gallery.
    My vote is keep:
    GFX
    XT-5 (1)
    X-S20 (it’s the family, fun and RUclips camera)
    Sell:
    X-HS2 (too expensive to be sitting there collecting dust)
    XT-5 (1)
    If you need pro video, your GFX can do it. Fun video, X-S20 and XT-10 can do that. Carrying an GFX and X-T5 offers plenty of redundancy and variety.

    I think selling the X-H2S (even as someone who loves that camera) is a slam dunk, but I would replace the GFX 100ii with the 100Sii dropping tomorrow (coincidentally also solves the viewfinder flash hotshoe issue).

    I can't believe Fuji doesn't provide you with gear. I know people who've bought into their ecosystem just because of you. That's mind-blowing to me.
    I would personally suggest selling off the GFX system since you're also a film photographer and could easily, and more cheaply, scratch that medium format itch with a nice Mamiya or Zenza-Bronica.

Gave great results and was used mostly on my k3 bodies.

I’m trying to make sure that all of my cameras are multi purpose and he X-T50, while it does have great video specs doesn’t have a flip out screen so it’s not good for RUclips style content creation. Tough call on the GFX, I have the 100ii and 50r and lenses. Like you it is use as needed, which is not much at the moment. But I would get ride of X gear before parting with it since the 100ii is so much faster on captures. I to have the x-h2s and x-s20. I use the X-h2s purposely more cause it is the better camera of the two. If I had to part with one, it would be the x-s20 for that reason. I would adapt based on my needs rather than wants. Sounds like you need to decided based on business needs more that personnel wants. Tough Call indeed.

    I sold my gfx 100 ii and R3 to get some cash back and the A9iii. I been using the 300 GM with the a7cr and got the a7c2 as a hybrid. I wanted the A9iii for two card slots when I needed and for pre capture and high speed for action and birds. Definitely a different niche but the smaller cameras are much the same as they’re better for travel and weight. If I want another GFX down the line after I get some debt paid off, A 50s iii or iv will suffice with say, phase detection. I also shoot salsa and the 100ii still struggled keeping AF when the lights went low. FF cameras already struggle enough but the A7CIi did pretty great yesterday with the Profoto A10 combo

    • @Evrce
      @Evrce Месяц назад

      what lens did you shoot with? i'm interested in the gfx100ii with the 45-100, 55 1.7 and 110 for lowlight/club video and slow portraits. Would you recommend going with nikon or sony?

    • @davetv8171
      @davetv8171 Месяц назад +1

      @@Evrce my gfx history goes back to the 50s. I’ve used the 110, 120, 80, 100-200, 45-100, 23 and 250. In the end I just had the 250 but used it less once I had the Sony 300. I actually never tried the 110 with the 100ii cause the 85 equivalent wouldn’t be great with salsa. Usually a 50 or less. It may work if that focal length fits you but if you need wider, FF might be better for lowlight. The 80 was not much faster than on the 100s. Sad. Never tried the 55. I think Fuji has a way to go b4 they get faster lenses to match their AF. Test out the 100ii or future 100sii so you can see if it fits your needs. I tend to find a 24 -33 mp body does better for a hybrid. I just used the A7cii with the 20 1.8 for salsa and it did pretty damn good. Right up there with the R3 I sold. But it’s smaller and more flexible. Nikon is great and I’ve had a lot of them but you have to get a Z8 to get anything decent and it’s big and expensive. Nikon lenses are bigger too. I do prefer the Sony lenses compared to the others and the lighter weight is why I’m also with Sony. If you need 2 card slots try the A7iv. More resolution, the A7RV or a7cr. I haven’t had a Fuji X series since the xt3. They are nice too if you’re good with crop. The xt5 does look good, I just can’t go into another system. It gets very expensive

    Apparently, the X-H2S seems like the hottest candidate to go if you don't really take advantages it has in video features over the X-S20. But also, like you mentioned, getting rid of the GFX would make a lot of sense from the financial perspective and as it uses different lenses, you could get rid of those as well. So, perhaps you could keep just three cameras, after all? 🙂

    • @jbivphotography
      @jbivphotography  Месяц назад

      Yeah that might be the move. As much as I love the GFX since the system is so big and heavy it’s not the most practical for my setup. Even I have a harder time switching lenses since they’re just so much bigger on that system which slows me down. If I got rid of the GFX it would save a lot of money and not waste a camera sitting around collecting dust.

    My thought would be to sell the XH2S, sell the GFX100ii, If you are not doing product or billboard type work.
    If you can charge extra for your paid gigs by using the GFX then keep it.
    However,
    I would sell those 2, get a X100VI and then you would have a video unit(XS20), workhorses Xt-t5’s, and an awesome everyday travel cam x100VI. Heck you could probably get the new X-T50 and still have plenty of coin leftover.

    Debt free is important to me unless the debt makes me more money so I would get rid of the GFX. Most clients may not even notice the difference in the image quality unless they are printing or a photography enthusiast themselves. Also your photos look amazing regardless of the system! Maybe later down the road get a GFX again after the debt is cleared up. Or get rid of the XH-2s which sounds like it is your least favorite.
    I would personally get rid of the X-H2s and 1 of the X-T5 and just keep the GFX and 1 X-T5 for work (the money maker kit) and the X-S20 as the family/leisure camera.

    Some photographers online suggests keeping 1 APSC and 1 Medium format, in your case XT5 and GFX, and since you already have them, try using these 2 exclusively for a month or two and see if you can live it them. The XS20 can pretty much replace the XH 2S, as you have pretty much explained yourself, and 4K 120 is pretty much useless for you. Sell that as well.

    • @alanc6416
      @alanc6416 Месяц назад

      Just heard you're in some debt, and if this is the case, get rid of the GFX while it still worth money, get rid of the debt, and you won't "miss" the camera when you already have the XT5. There probably won't be a scenario where the XT 5 doesn't meet your requirements, unless you're doing some commercial work where you need to blow up the photo on a wall or something. It's an expensive toy for you, not a money maker, consider that.

    I guess real life practice tells you (and me and everyone) what makes sense really and what comes only from a nice idea.
    According to your video, I'd guess selling the X-H2S, and probably the Gfx is a good idea for exactly the reasons you told. Having 2 different systems inherently creates redundancy in lenses and an eternal headache "which one to take this time". If your clients do not ask for "MF quality" (most do probably not know what that is anyway) - it's a question of money and ease of mind. I once had the X- system plus a Sony a7r II with lenses. Made me unhappy for the mentioned reasons. Buying stuff for 2 systems is also twice as expensive :-) Oh, I personally am a bit lazy and prefer to carry a lighter system rather than a bulky, heavy one. Good luck with your decision!

    XH2S has to go, it is under utilised. The X-S20 covers your videos needs, the X-T5's your weddings even if you sometimes switch out one for the GFX. You will/would regret selling the GFX.

    You build your business on the xt line.
    I would get rid of the medium format.
    It does not bring in any additional money. I would also get rid of the xh2s.
    Shot full frame. Also contemplating going medium format or back to full frame with all the amazing sony glass, but will it bring in more money? Will I still enjoy it.
    X-t5's and xs20. You have your fun and money makers there. Dept is always shit and a good way to spiral down.
    Save your back, save your finances.
    Have fun and when times are back. Get the medium format or trade it in for an older one

    Easy! Sell the X-H2s AND the GFX. When you need the GFX just rent it. The three remaining bodies will cover all your actual needs (not hypothetical ones like making a fancy GFX movie “someday”) 😄

    • @jbivphotography
      @jbivphotography  Месяц назад

      Very true. Renting would be a perfect setup. And let’s be honest, there’s really no times where I actually need the GFX I just like using it and the results I get from it.

    • @jbivphotography
      @jbivphotography  Месяц назад

      Very true. I think I let GAS get the better of me the last couple of years. Because technically in my business I can do everything I need with just the X-T5s and the X-S20. It might be time to lean up my business a little bit. I also have the Osmo pocket 3 which is great for BTS video so I really do just have too many cameras.

    • @shaquilleghotane6593

      I agree. It’s nice to have but if you don’t use it, then might be good idea to sell it. But if you find yourself needing it again, you can always buy a dedicated newer and more up to date camera. Besides you already have other high end cameras to do the job so its not going to be the end of the world. I sold my entire sony system and got a fuji (a7iv and a7riii to fuji xt30i with only a kit lens) and honestly i don’t feel the need to go back despite sony being better in almost all aspects technically. Now i’d wanna size down to just a small prime lens so its even lighter. In short, i think selling is a good idea.

    Do you use filters (polarized, ND, etc.) on your photos? As far as I remember, I don't think you have ever mentioned it in your videos.
    Second question: Do you recommend I upgrade my XT4 to the XT5?
    Thank You ;)

    • @jbivphotography
      @jbivphotography  4 дня назад

      I don’t really ever use any filters. I’ll use an ND filter if I need it for video bout that’s about it. As far as X-T4 or T5 I think it comes to preference. If you want to do more video I would say T4 if you don’t like the flippy screen then T5. I’m biased towards T5
