Wonderful little video. I’ve since picked one of these up and wow the quality is simply great. It’s also a bit more compatible than I thought it would be. In addition to the two Astro City Mini units I have it works great on my Megadrive Mini 2 and Evercade VS. The arcade titles on the VS make this stick really good value. Shame I can’t use it with modern consoles though.
Great video, Phantomnaut! I purchased both versions of the Sega Astro City Mini Arcade Stick (Green + Pink button versions). Love 'em! The quality + look and feel is just wonderful! Since your review, Windows 10 seems to have been updated to natively support these controllers. They are recognised with the right name "Sega Astro City Mini Arcade Stick" when plugged into USB and works without any further button-mapping.
@@youmasenchi I'm still on windows 10, indeed it is regonized by windows however I still have many issues depending of the game. I also have issues with RPI 3b and for 4 : Horzontals directions are not reconginzed
Ive been playing with mine for a few months now on Fightcade...its really nice and accurate...only thing kinda annoying is the credit button above the joystick..sometimes i hit it by accident while fighting..they should have moved it over more far left or right next to the start button...also if look the credit button is imbedded kinda under the surface of the control panel on the display box..and the face plate bolts are like the original candy cab bolts you would see on a real Japanese arcade panel...kinda lame how it got changed apparently...overall its really responsive and accurate
Nice video! I have a VSHG and it's my favorite stick. Does the Astro city stick weigh as much as the VSHG? Does it have that same solid heavy metal feel?
In theory, YES.. Sadly no one produced Plexiglas for this joystick : number of units is too low , I guess. Focus attack doesn't produce any Plexiglas, right now... But if we are enough to ask and ask for this product, who knows ?? Another problem, with this great joystick : only 6 buttons and not 8. Check modern fighting games : they use 8 buttons....
Nice little breakdown of the stick. Thanks for posting this, it serves as a nice reference.

Thx for sharing, I am on the fence of getting these as well. Do you know if they would work on a Rasberry Pi?

I was hoping someone would make a video like this. Outstanding quality to boot. Easy sub.
I wish SEGA would collaborate with someone like Hori. Let Hori do the manufacturing, and base it off SEGA's designs. Anyway, great vid!

fantastic vid great details just what I was looking for thank you
Have you ever looked into getting the snap-out tool? It makes swapping buttons enjoyable.
Great video! Also, thanks for the shoutout :D
changing my buttons to pink 🥰
Thanks for this, was looking at buying one but I'll get a VSHG instead
MODDING:
I’m interested in buying one
Where are the notes on getting it to work on PC?
BTW I just plugged mine into WIN10, and it knew the name of the stick right away and set it up. Worked on Fightcade flawlessly.

While I don’t have a Virtua Stick High Grade anymore, the weight and feel of this is very comparable.
Thanks for this!
I’m considering doing a Saturn mod with this
Thank you, that was really helpfull
How can i switch the artwork? can i add plexiglass ? Is there someone that sells it?

Do you think Sega will upgrade this lineup, a 2 player stick is the dream
Nice!
