Mrs Jodi, I completely feel for you
I failed my first Airport Assessment (Interview)
As well I had to go to a small town in NJ from NYC in a bus
I arrived early and I answered well but the Officers were honestly not really interested from the get go
I have experience in the medical field for many years
Anyways long story short I did not pass
3 years later I reapplied and passed im now working as a TSO, I gave similar to same answers on the second interview and I passed in reality its just the guys who interviewed me probably didn’t like me for some particular and most likely personal reason
Believe me your not missing out, for a Federal Agency they are highly unorganized in many ways and the pay isn’t good at all

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment on my video post. It means a lot to me. I'm so glad that when you reapplied you were able to get a job. And yes, I agree that it was probably due to the people who interviewed me. They really didn't care much about what I was saying. Best of luck in your career

That's ok I took a totally different test for the tso than the cbt test and got a message saying that no further action is required at this time. What that means God knows. Nothing saying I passed or failed.

Hi Jodi. I love your commentary. I failed the initial exam. I could not have been more shocked. I have two masters degrees and a doctorate in education. I thought I would take the exam just to see what might happen. I finished it in record time because I couldn’t find anything in the exam that was challenging to me. Obviously, I miss calculated something. In fact, I was so confident that I had passed that I was completely shocked. This not only leaves me bewildered but questioning the quality of the TSO staff. I have had conversations with more than one TSO that left me questioning their ability to keep me safe. There is definitely something wrong here. Lol. By the way, I am a commercial pilot and have flown more than 45 different aircraft in the last 40 years. I’ve taught more than 100 people how to fly a jet. I work for Boeing supplying parts for 747 and 767‘s. Lol. But I failed the TSO test! I was never more fighting for my safety than I am now!!! Lol
    Best of luck to you.

Mark.... It is so refreshing to have read your comment. I was just discussing the whole experience with a friend last night at dinner. And how humiliating it was to pass the cbt, which I thought for sure I would fail, and then fail in the interview process. I am beyond personable and failing the interview left me wondering big time. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I so appreciate it.

Angela, you are correct. Because it is a structured interview, all answers must be answered using the STAR method. Best way is going to be to practice, practice, practice how you will answer before the structured interview. Research the structured interview process, how it works, what you will say, and you have a better chance of making the cut. 👍🏼

First of all, best of luck on the interview tomorrow. They asked me regular interview questions such as what challenges I might have had at a prior job. Some of the stuff I had to make up because I never really had challenges at any job that I had. I heard from somebody who failed the interview the first time and then reapplied 6 months later and passed and he's been working as a TSO since that point. Best of luck with the interview and please, if you have a moment, let me know how you do.

Thank you for this informative story. I am also beginning the process for TSA and I was curious about your interview. Do you think your age might have been a factor. I am 64 years old and they can not discriminate, but that doesn't mean they can "find" someway to fail you. Just curious for your thoughts. Thanks again

Good morning Jodi , I took the CBT last weekend and failed it , at first I was frustrated and confused on why I failed it . In my opinion , I feel like the test don’t have nothing to do with Security except for the x-ray part , and even then most of the time as a Armed Guard or a security guard you’re not going to deal with x-rays , as I watch more RUclips videos I found out that it’s not just me that has failed the test , there are other people that are great candidates that have failed the test , that being said it told me I could retake the test in six months but I probably would not pass it anyways lol , I feel like they should change the test and change the process because they’re losing some great candidates . Just my opinion thank you for sharing , You seemed like you would’ve done a great job .

It is a simple job that people make unnecessarily challenging through directives SOPs, testing to keep your job and stupid people. Some people are there because their late career and got laid off and waiting to retire. Others are ex military. Others are just too dumb to work a fast food job. Others want a stepping stone.
