For the unbelieving husband is made holy because of his wife, and the unbelieving wife is made holy because of her husband. Thank you Fulton Sheen. We love you! 🥰
As a widower that was married for almost 19 years and what Venerable Fulton Sheen speaks in this is so real. My late wife and I experience love with all the crosses God was pleased to send us.
I find this so applicable ..My wife is still the MOST BEAUTIFUL HUMAN BEING on earth ..I Work to allow her space..I Love her and my children but I TRY so hard to LOVE the LORD and MARY ,MOTHER of GOD Pray for me
Francis Sullivan God has given you graces, to see her as He sees her. He always sees us as perfect because of the love of our Father for His children. He never stops hoping that we achieve our divine purpose. So it is a gift to you in your marriage. God blesses you, and may He continue to bless you through troubled waters as well as sunny warm days.
@@aromadelOur Beloved doesn’t see us as perfect but as we are. To say contrary is blasphemy. It’s a testament to His greatness that He loves us even when we are not yet sanctified.
@@theophilasara9899 He does. Hebrews 10:14 says “Through His sacrifice He has forever made perfect those in Christ.” We are no longer living to get our head above the water. 1Peter 1:24 says “we are dead to sin and now live for righteousness “ Peter goes on to say in 2peter 1 he talks about faith virtues planted within that need to blossom, to bear fruit as we grow with Jesus, v9-11 says this and goes on to say “anyone who lacks fruit who believes is blind constantly closing their eyes to the mysteries of our faith and forgetting their innocence. - for his sins have been washed away. For this reason, beloved ones, be eager to confirm and validate that God has invited you to salvation and claimed you as his own. If you do these things, you will never stumble. As a result, the kingdoms gates will open wide to you as God choreographs your triumphant entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.” What Peter is saying and what he means can only be understood when you have the spirit of God with you and you hear Jesus speaking to you, that comes as you press in to reach higher levels of peace in Him. But to reject this is to remain in pain and darkness and all that we have done is replaced the temple sacrifice and going every day to repent of sins and get an offering made to free us of demonic oppression, is we replace it with Jesus’s blood, and go ever day repent v and apply if the blood and feeling condemned; but Peter, Paul and the writer of Hebrews says we are reborn, dead to sin, citizens of Heaven, colonists here now. Paul says in Roman’s 8:1-2 therefore there is no longer any condemnation for those in Christ, no judgment, no penalty for the price has been paid, and the case is dismissed. All Saran does to accuse us is dismissed by the blood of Jesus. This is how we overcome - it says in Revelation, the saints that overcome the accuser, overcome by the blood of Jesus and their testimony, that is what His blood has done for us and how He transformed us. Jesus spoke scripture to overcome all the attacks of the enemy as we saw when He fasted in the wilderness, so it is with us when we speak of what the blood has done for us. Use the words of Peter, of Paul, and be set free from continuous persecution. For we must remember, Jesus said those who seek the truth seek the light. But those in darkness are condemned because they prefer darkness (John 3). That means they do not feel conviction of a need to repent. They feel nothing. Their own actions put them in hell. So His people are striving to walk in the light and when we stumble He says, it’s ok I got you get up and keep going. You are good with me. I know! And we simple say Lord I plead the blood of Jesus, I am dead to sin by your precious blood and cast it of the Lord. That is the way. This gives us freedom to look outward to help others in need and freedom of the shackles of the slavery to sin that Jesus came to break us from. The demons cannot stay and harass us when we know who we are in Christ. It’s a revelation in the heart when you dwell in the Word. If you love Jesus you love to read the Bible because He is the Word made flesh. May the Lord bless you and yours dear brother!
Wow!!! What a profound message. It’s deep wisdom to all couples in happy or unhappy marriages. This ought to be required viewing at PreCana marriage preparation. I’d even go further and suggest showing this at Retrouvaille or Marriage Encounter weekends. A must view. The ending has a surprise. Venerable Bishop Sheen is a master teacher.
Lynn do you think couples would also benefit from Leila Miller's book, Primal Loss casting huge doubts upon the prevailing notion children are resilient in the face of their parent's divorces?
If only our priests and counselors would relay the words of this articulate Bishop to the struggling married(at the 17 minute point): "Why can't we realize that what a sickness is to an individual, an unhappy marriage may be to a couple; A trial sent by God in order to perfect them spiritually" ? Combine this with the words of adult children of divorce in the book Primal Loss, so many divorces can be prevented.
Thank you for a great message from a great Pastor of Souls. In our age where our problems define us, he calls us to bear our burdens in marriage and I am sure he would be all for getting support from others who support marriage.
Excellent wisdom!! It's true to me living my religious vocation!! Bless Venerable Bishop Fulton Sheen. Bless the Lord for His gift in you!!! Amen!! Yes, death to lower life fòr Christ's sake.
if you have husband who abuse you emotionally and mentally and controls you, should i take it as cross to take or save myself and stay away from him? help please.
It depends. If it's severe abuse as you say, then save your self from it. You can only take so much. IDK what caused the abuse to escalate, or even begin, but you can separate from him and still pray for his deliverance. You praying for him, when the who world chooses not to, will be a testament to your holiness and possible saint hood. But seriously save yourself from living under the grief. It could get far worse such as .......death.
I am not Catholic but I am interested in Catholic teachings. Can someone please explain to me the part of the story Bishop Sheen told, where the lady prayed to God that she would receive enough sufferings to purchase the salvation of her husband? How can a person "purchase" salvation for another person? And why would suffering lead to salvation - I thought it was through faith and repentance we were saved? These are interesting ideas but I don't understand them.
Laura, I just had an email conversation with my priest about this video and it went like this: Me: I can't quite bring myself to pray the prayer she did...To receive sufficient suffering to purchase his soul...Maybe if I didn't have kids I could pray that more wholeheartedly?? Father: there are things that I don’t think we can, should, pray…God takes our prayers seriously… I never prayed for suffering…So we’re on the same page on that one Me: That's reassuring that you don't think we need to pray for suffering. I definitely pray for N's conversion a lot...But I actually pray for it not to require something super dramatic like an illness or the death of one of our children. You hear of so many conversions that only come after something really hard happens... Father: God is a good Father. Don’t be afraid. Hope that helps!
Suffering is part of christian life ......our lives are modelled very much on the life of Christ and if you understand the role if the passion if Christ for our redemption then you'll understand the role of suffering for our salvation
Christ purchased our salvation with His suffering and Death on the Cross. Look at a crucifix, as we Catholics do, and you will see the redemptive value of sufferings. We Catholics are taught that our own sufferings can assist in Christ's work of salvation when we offer them up for others or even for our own improvement. May God bless you in your search for Him.
Grace can be merited to one soul by the suffering on other. That is what all the saints have done. In many cases the Lord himself instills a desire for suffering in a soul so that he may pour out graces( repentence) on other souls.
Mark Becker Do you really have such little faith that the Lord who blessed you with your beautiful family will not provide for ALL their needs, now and in future, even in this "post Christian" age as you say?
Only Catholics are christians. However, I wiil say that there are a number of those of other faiths such as protestants that lead exemplary lives as compared to Catholics.

In a word: sobering.
Where are our priests teaching this today?!
The brilliance of Catholic Christian theologians, always imitated by protest-ants for their business sects, but can never equal.
It is thus a great blessing that some speak up against the "cheap gospel" in protestant churches.
