While there's not many people with hits in both eras, people who were in a similar space in the 80s include the two guys who made a lot of the music for Cascade, the people who helped the two members of Captain Jack make their music, the producer for Haddaway and La Bouche, Culture Beat, Le Click, Novaspace, Paffendorf of YT fame, Real McCoy, Snap!, Sash, Scooter (so technically this is nightcore's grandaddy), ATC, and U96, which was one of the first to bring 80s to 90s dance. So between them and the Germans who were more musically on top of things, especially with synthesizer music, there was a mass amount of synthpop/"new wave" made for the Italian market that was super-mega-ultra cheesy, which is why very little of it made it outside that market bar people who like synth cheese on Spotify and some viral oddities like Camel by Camel (sold to this market but the author/writer is Eastern European) which more got famous because of the animation it was paired with. Italo Disco was the training ground for people like Dave Rodgers and Giorgio Moroder (who wrote most the synth songs/parts for Donna Summer [inc Hot Stuff, Love to Love You Baby and all of I Feel Love] and wrote all or most of 8 really well-known 80s songs [ Call Me by Blondie, Take my Breath Away by Berlin, Together in Electric Dreams by The Human League, Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins, Flashdance (What a Feeling) by Irene Cara, and Neverending Story by Limahl] so even with the weird cheese it has been a net positive.
