So how does she explain Asian on Asian racism in Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand? Its not only black and white and racism. Its also COLORISM and Culturalism. Its way more complicated that she is explaining, she is right on some level, but its very basic. This has been going on since the days of Mesopotamia and Egypt and we think we can change it in 10, 20, 50, 100 years? A man once told me "Time is a Flat Circle". And after realizing he was right i knew that the best we could do is try our best in this timeless tale of Good vs Evil.

Agreed, the experiment at the time was important. A lot has got twisted since then

    • @thorazine0076

@MajorLeague "participants can feel frustrated about "their inability to change" and instead begin to feel anger against the very groups to which they are supposed to be more sensitive. It can also lead to anxiety because people become hyper-sensitive about being offensive or being offended." As other studies have shown. In todays society looking through the lense solely of critical race theory pits races against one another. While I think Elliots studies 50yrs ago has a valid place in psychology/sociology.. Robin DiAngelo's does not, it weaponizes Anecdotal Evidence and Critical Logical Fallacies.

    • @thorazine0076
      @thorazine0076 4 года назад

@MajorLeague I think the value in her study is to demonstrate what how destructive racism & hate ideologies can be, it should be left there and it was more appropriately experimented with volunteer college students. ruclips.net/video/KcqsJUA3puU/видео.html this is an hour long, but it's an insiders look at a Engineer WhistleBlower took a stance against this policy and was sent on administrative leave and dives into how Anecdotal Critical Race Theory, BLM & White Fragility is entering into our Human Resource Department workplace.. It was immediately stopped at the Federal Level through the Hatch Act, but it's entered into our Private sector with no such protection.

    • @thorazine0076

@MajorLeague My brother is a master machinist and his private company have contracts with Military. The HR company in place was outsourched, they proposed to managment this new form of so called Diversity Training a month or so ago. They were canned and his Manufacturer found another HR company.

Mrs. Elliot is talking about Racism, not Colorism- they can be very different things. Racism is American and as such an American Export. It is also the fruition of a particular Bias in the West with a White vs. Black origination as described by Mrs. Elliott. The core of Racism is dehumanization, which not only justifies enslaving, but also absolves killing.

We need to speak her lessons! If we want to get to a place of equality, we must become educators! ALL our children need it! We need to be lifted up by praise and respect and every last one of us has experienced this in their own way!
She remarks it only took MINUTES for her 3rd graders to become what she told them they were. That right there should be able to be understood by anyone who’s been “hurt” in a deep psychological way. The Me Too movement is one. PTSD is another. Disabled people’. Dysfunctional families. We ALL can be taught to understand it. Jane used eye color. And she STILL breaks my heart when she speaks about the speed her kids became what she labeled them as! We can educate because we have learned it somehow.
We need to take our country back and change the forward movement. We need to hurry. Anyone interested?

A program that started in a class room is now exercised almost worldwide. Unfortunately it's voluntary and mostly for adults only, don't get me wrong it still has a profound impact on those who experience it. But i got to admit i'd rather see it being exercised in class rooms to conquer the racist ideologies kids might get taught at home.
As Elijah Shabazz once said in a Guru track:
If we're not schooling the youth WITH wisdom

I grew up the victim of low expectation because of living in poverty. I grew up in a small mountain community like Jane Elliott's classroom. Because Dad was disabled and Mom had to work outside the home I became aware at an early age we were being discriminated against, not because of the color of our eyes or the hue of our skin but because my Father was a cripple and my mother didn't stay in her place in the home. Dad was overtly racist and our home was a toxic environment because of his his attitude toward people of color despite his anger about being discriminated for his disability. The MLK was assassinated by his own radical people, according to Malcolm X in his biography. Malcolm makes it clear that racism is as Jane says, a total invent social construct by the elites. For the life of me I can't understand her narrow view of discrimination just the same. Neither do I agree with her that no POC's are out after vengeance or women for that matter as we are experiencing it today. I heard her anger and belligerence on Opera and excuse me I've have been there and not just as an exercise but as a token white person in a program that was intended for disadvantage self identified college bound students in the STEM field. For six weeks in the summer of '74' I endured that situation. Distrust and excluded from group activities and eventual I was even met with violence from a blond haired blue eye guy of direct Spanish descent. He had no moreish ancestry because when I wrote Dad in a letter about how I wanted him to come get me he wrote back and said "Only losers are quitters, hang in there I know his father and they are descendant from conquistadors. This isn't about race, it's about class and he thinks you are a peon, nothing more." So I embraced my minority role and made friends with the token Asian woman and the only upper class man of color who was the son of an army major. What a trio we made, flaunting our differences in their faces. Before we knew it were part of the POC tribe and Mr Hispanic and cadre were distressed and found themselves on the receiving end of discrimination. Like I said it ended in violence when they attacked me in bathroom while I was taking a bath. I managed to hold them off until the chaperone chased them off. It culminated though a few days later in the laundry room where I was corned again by him and another guy. Unknown to them my friend, the big black guy, return from the vending machine. Roy invited the other to go out into the hall and let us have it out man to man, mono a mono, as I said to them in Spanish. They ran away like the cowards they were and didn't bother me anymore. What was my sin in their eyes? They over heard me telling someone else that he was as white as I and disadvantage had nothing to do with his participation in the program. Too many times Jane just comes off as an angry white woman of privilege frustrated by her own guilty conscience. I have found in my 64 years of life that this anger is from fear and is exactly what she is pointing out here. Her anger is not constructive and neither are her exercises, rather they are intended to put white people in their proper place. Until the truly privileged people of their era are dead and buried, after refusing to abdicate their authoritarian roles of hypocrisy of low expectation of the underclass, the conflicts will just be exacerbated. Like those politicians she sits there on her high horse refusing to see the elephant in the room while tilting at windmills in her myopic world view. She teaches good lessons in "walk a mile in the others shoes" while refusing to herself take even one step in them. So typical of post modernism accredited elitist authoritarianism.

Yea and ducks are ducks, but they're not all the same ducks. There's different types of ducks like they're are different types of humans. We should certainly celebrate our similarities, but we should should also celebrate and welcome our differences.
Race, just means different cultures, which just means different religions, different locations, different foods, different clothing, different languages, different philosophies ect ect..they exist, it's just a name, Race. These differences are also a circle od connection.. connection to people like us, that share elements of similarity, and that naturally draws us together..but of course that is also an element of separation from others. It's just the way our world works and how we can process it, we naturally filter our reality in these ways or we wouldn't have a reality..we cannot deny the things in our childhood, the foods the locations, the languages..they partly define us, and that's that. Deal with it 🤷

I agree with you that she traumatized these kids, she even says in other interviews about all the backlash she received and that what she did was unethical. But to say she did it for no reason? Either you didn't watch the video, or you just need to do a bit more research on the experiment and the findings

I agree the idea of racism should be traumatizing. They then understood what it was like to be black in America in the 60s. All you did was prove how terrible America was you called it “traumatizing”

She was referencing terminology from our heyday that was used by everyone sadly. And referring to a news anchor using it. It's all about context and respect IMO and there is a difference in age and how we have been raised in the generations after hers.
