    Found your tutorial on pivots. I find it so challenging. Having found your tutorial, I love the way you explained the procedures after the crab walk, which I was lifting my wheels to HIGH. I will try and keep my wheels on the floor and shift my weight! 👍🏾

    It looks like this could be my way to learn the artistic/figure's 3-turn I want!! I'm still at what I think would be level Zero-B, crabwalk like you showed (zero-a) and both feet together and alike (both toes then both heels).
    Gotta get confident to try on one foot only, but standing still seems less dreary than rolling

      Yes! It’s one of those things where I’ve been skating forever, I would consider myself an advanced-intermediate level with the potential to be better of course, but I’ve never had any formal introductions about the basics and/or the whys or how tos. I have always just skated and learned by just mimicking what I saw. BUT THIS is golden because you actually give great context! Looking forward in improving my craft! THANKS AGAIN!

    What kind of skates are those?

  • @Hexbyte965
    @Hexbyte965 3 года назад +2

    Great tut, but I did 'notice closely' that you said during the pivot that all 4 wheels are in contact with the ground. Watching in slow motion, that is not the case.

    • @Andvilsk8s
      @Andvilsk8s  3 года назад +2

      I said the same thing when I was in the editing cave.
      If you have hard wheels, over 99a in hardness, and skate on a relatively smooth or wooden floor then all four wheels will slide on the ground.
      The overall idea I wanted people to get, is to use least amount of pressure to break traction with the ground in order to get the wheels to slide.

  • @jeffgoggin1394
    @jeffgoggin1394 2 года назад +1

    So this is a silly question as it looks pretty clear your skates are tied super loose/not tied. I've been experimenting with tying my skates only halfway up trying to find a comfortable feel. I love them to be loose. Do you skate like that normally? What are your thoughts on loose boots? Do you think at any point it's disadvantageous/dangerous? Ps great video btw!

    • @Andvilsk8s
      @Andvilsk8s  2 года назад +2

      My skate boot is so stiff and hugs my feet so well that I can roll around in them without having to tie them up all the way. The main reason I skate with my boots loose is to allow my feet some room to expand before lacing them up tight. I picked up the habit after seeing another skater do so and learning the reason why.
      You can lace up the boot similar to how Jam/Speed boots are laced up, with High-Top skates. Making only up to the top part of your foot tight and keeping the ankles a bit loose. Doing so gives more ankle mobility than if you were to lace all the way up.

    Like you said, pivoting from back to front can feel scary. That’s me. I have a hard time completing the 180. Any other tips besides practicing in socks to get that full 180 rotation going back to front?

    • @Andvilsk8s
      @Andvilsk8s  3 года назад +2

      I recommend turning your Head & Shoulders around first and always focusing where you are rolling to. The goal is to look at where you are about to turn first. That way you're not surprised by what is behind you.

    • @christiecollins5286
      @christiecollins5286 3 года назад +1

      Can you give a breakdown on your equipment? Is that the 3200? And looks like you have one different wheel on the inside heel? What is your favorite wheel on wood? Roll line plate?

    • @Andvilsk8s
      @Andvilsk8s  3 года назад

      I'll start putting together a video going over my setup in detail.
      For now, my wheels are Sure Grip Velvets & Fo-Mac Harmonies (the black and white inside wheels).
      My boot is the Riedell 3200.
      My plate is the Roll-Line Giotto.

    Do you think tighter trucks are better for pivots

    • @Andvilsk8s
      @Andvilsk8s  10 месяцев назад

      Tighter trucks will give you more stability when practicing, at the cost of being agile.
      I recommend tightening the trucks little-by-little until you find out what works for you. 😉

    What type of wheels are the blue ones and how are you using those FoMacs outside?!!!!

    • @Andvilsk8s
      @Andvilsk8s  3 года назад

    is there like a lil hop to it cuz i can’t get my wheels to move when i keep all my weight on the foot

    • @Andvilsk8s
      @Andvilsk8s  2 года назад

      Depending on the surface of the floor you are skating on and how grippy your wheels are, then you would have to do a slight hop to break the traction between the wheels and the floor.
      What kind of wheels are you using (brand & model) and what is durometer rating of them?

    • @Andvilsk8s
      @Andvilsk8s  2 года назад

      No. It is not okay! 😤 You walk using both feet, so you must skate using both feet. Learning on both sides will make you a much more well rounded skater. Also it is best to learn both sides sooner than later since you can just knock it out one time. 😎
