My old Brno loves the SK it just shows not all rifles like the same ammo. Shows great character to show when things aren't perfect holes touching. I always learn more when things go wrong. Great work
Definitely not a horrible video. This was a very informative video about what folks may be getting into by purchasing either of these rifles. Thanks for sharing. Everybody knows this isn't on you!❤❤❤
Like others said, great video and honest results experienced. Give um another chance. I know that those results were not what you were expecting however there are reasons for all of it. The 10/22 is a persnickety little vermin and must be “tuned in” before you’ll get “dialed in”. Good Stuff!
Sir, I have some really cheap semi-autos that aren't that fussy. You've got way too much invested in that rifle to be that frustrated! I don't say this lightly as I have a KSA 722PT that I'm scared to send back. But yeah, that rifle probably needs to go back to Bergara. Anyway, Happy New Year!❤❤❤
I can feel your pain outhers would have given up long before the end of the video but if we are all honest there are good days and bad days on the range. 22 ammo is the very inconsistent have seen this problem before on a standard ruger 10/22 problem ammo and mag combination tomorrow another day 😊
I have been thinking about your 10/22 issues. I see it is one of the black receivers. I run 10/22s all the time. And with the black it is very very common to have a crap ton of over spray in side the action. What that does it it acts like sand paper and the action ends up being very gritty and does not cycle smoothly. I take a green schotch bright pad and POLISH the inside of the receivers out. I mean super smooth it will shine when done polishing. I also Polish the bolts up. The other thing I do Is run the KIDD charging handle and springs. The lightest spring they have. But just polishing alone will HELP you out a Ton mine are so smooth the bolts glide like they are glidding on ice.
Enjoyed your video and I have a couple of 10/22's I shoot at 200 yards all the time. The problem with your shooting are not the rifles but the ammo you are using. I saw that your standard deviation is in the very high double digits. If you want better grouping you just have to buy better quality ammo that can shoot more consistent velocities and lower your standard deviation into the single digits. When you do find it, buy that ammo by the lot and the case, still depending if your rifle likes it. In the mean time that ammo is good plinking ammo.
Amigo, that ammo seemed to have an ES near 78fps SO sell the remaining ammo. The Bergara is junk sorry to say, not sure why but many reviews have same issues (all of them). The Ruger is nothing to brag about either. I think both rifles deserve a 2nd chance with some of the high end Lapuas or Eley Match or Tenex. Get a Kidd bolt handle, rod and spring kit, install the silver std spring to start, also Kidds magazine plunger and spring helps many magazines fit more square to chamber. Your SK is likely a bad batch, avoid that lot number for life! I’ll bet you both rifles will do much more typical with those minor mods and ammo choice. The SD can be all, over the place with ESs that high. CCI mini mags are more consistent if you can believe that. The bolt Headspace may not be good for that SK ammo. The rims on 22LR can vary in thickness a lot. The trick in 10/22s is to have a true bolt alignment (receivers can vary slightly but generally OK), next is the bolt face being flat/true to the chamber with a round in the chamber (quality bolt, barrel & receiver specs) remember the bolt faces are recessed to account for rounds rim geometry both pre and post firing. Magazines….clean um well inside and wind them up properly, if the mag is sloppy, so will be the feeding/reliability. The accuracy you showed is not typical for the 10/22. Consider these things for their future and make sure you do your part well of the rest. You should be able to get 1” at 50yds with either stock rifle and probably closer to 1/2” with the right ammo choice. Measure the headspace recess for your bolt (depth). Then visit Eley site, they state proper headspace for each of their excessive variety. You should try Eley Match or Tenex and get a bolt that is correctly cut. The Gods are testing your faith. All semi-autos are sensitive to what I’ve described above. Bolt guns, if bolt is precisely fit to rifle, lockup more solidly. The 10/22 relies on bolt return spring tension and precise tolerances. I have no affiliation with anyone but….KIDD bolts and barrels are excellent and 1/2” at 50yds is guaranteed. Once you get a set and measure the critical dimensions, especially their headspace and then COMPARE with your OEM bolts dimensions, you’ll see what I mean. We don’t get to hand load for 22LR so it’s all about the dimensions above and the ammo you use that will fix accuracy. If your barrel slide in/out of the receiver easily they are too loose and droop will cause bolt face misalignment. I’ve had 14 10/22s trying to achieve competitive accuracy with bolt guns however don’t think that is easily achieved. My brothers BMR shoots .45” at 50yds with Eley TEAM! out of the box. My Ruger receiver with KIDD ultralight and Kidd bolt on Victor Titan with the spike anchor shoots .41” at 50yds with TEAM and have gotten .33” with MATCH however .375” avg with Eley MATCH.
Try smaller compensators if you have them or none at all, and try again. I have compensators on both of my 10/22, one of them is a BXR with the carbon fiber.
Pretty disappointing results, but it’s still useful to see the bad as well as the good. Without knowing much about the Bergara autoloader but based on the reputation its bolt action guns seem to have, it seems surprising there were so many malfunctions with it.
Also, my recommendation is to sell both of those and just get a KIDD supergrade. I’m routinely under 1” 10 shot groups at 100 yards with SK LR Match. It’ll be good for the channel too. These clearly are not in the same class and just frustrating so why keep trying something over and over. Get the KIDD and you’ll have a seriously good performing rifle that can keep up with the CZ457
Yes why not for 10/22 - throwing more money at it could be wasted. Before that why not try the Ruger BX? trigger on Bergara and it might solve light strike problems? Then put the Ruger bolt and charging handle assembly in Bergara. See what it does - it will cost nothing to find out and more video content.
@@rikoshea765 I have 2 and switching the barrel was the largest improvement by far. BX trigger is good too but a Shaw barrel or Green mountain cuts the groups in half for a hundo and change.
That ammo is not generating enough velocity and power to work a semi automatic consistently. That is why you are not getting good groups. You need velocities close to 1080fps to get the best performance out of that gun.
Both those rifles should be able to do much, much better than what was shown. Think the brake on each barrel is hurting your accuracy. On the Bergara, bolt, spring or both may be issue with chambering a round and for light strikes. Had similar issue (not accuracy issue though) on my KIDD and changed bolt and everything worked perfectly. This was painful to what, but couldn't stop hoping for better shots (on target, let alone on paper), lucky not to shoot your camera!
That bergara needs to go back to the factory to get fixed along with the magazine that has the most problems so they can get the issues fixed. Not a bad video just disappointing groups but at least it's real not Cherry picked groups witch I appreciate
At this point both those rifles are gone and unless they are just replica plinkers which we can no longer own here in our communist country I will never waste another cent of semi autos. My tm22 shoots right at moa so I’ll keep that but the rest are history
You are to hard to yourself. The video wasn't horrible at all, but it showed that semi auto's are not the most precise in 22lr. A bit comparable with the bigger calibers, where there you can find a combination of ammo and weapon working way under 1 moa. But there is a major issue with that bergara not loading properly. I have in mind you mentioned something like a 6.5 creed in your collection?! Have you plans to show content with other calibers? Hope you had a good Christmas time and all the best for 2025!
That's pretty bad i know you shoot better than that. What happened? The gun the ammo? That was pretty awful. I am a fan of yours but you need to change something. Your pal Beagleman

Nice vid! Enjoying watching!
Glad you enjoyed cheers! 🍻

Thanks for sharing.
Everybody knows this isn't on you!❤❤❤
I have same bxr, same problems, same frustration. Deepest sympathy.
I have the BXR and the Ruger Custom Shop 10-22 competition. They both have decent groups at 50yds for semi autos. I never tried them at 100yds.
When you look at the SD’s and velocities the ammo is not generating enough power consistently. Get a little hotter ammo or a weaker recoil spring.
Like others said, great video and honest results experienced. Give um another chance. I know that those results were not what you were expecting however there are reasons for all of it. The 10/22 is a persnickety little vermin and must be “tuned in” before you’ll get “dialed in”. Good Stuff!
Great review, thing won't even feed!!
Thank you for sharing your shooting. Sk is the good ammo.
Enjoyed your vid I wonder if a change of barrel on those rifles would make a difference anyway from the uk have a happy new year to you and yours

Velocity spread is pretty large. Maybe this is a bad lot of ammo?

Ottimo video! Ma la carabina nuova?

You’re also recommending ammo that’s triple the cost. Not economical for most people.

Almost a waste of ammo?😄 It was suspenseful to see if you got near the bullseye.
👋
Ya lol 😂 I know what you mean. The safest place to be was on the bullseye 🎯
I see you have a Sometime Semi Auto. 😏
Had ha ha both are no longer in my collection.

good video…you’re not cherry picking and keeping it real!..it’s why I subscribe to your content!
Try a different barrel on the 10/22.

I’m so glad I didn’t get that BXR and got the BMR instead
You should maybe look at which mags are working better than others?? Maybe you have already but the begara seems to fire ok with some and not others?

Nice try. You are going to need a bigger target or a deep lake for those autos
lol they are gone now
Make a great duck gun
lol yup eventually you’d hit something ha ha

If you ever shoot a precision rifle with precision ammo going back to normal crap sucks 😂😢
Yes I agree
That bergara needs to go back to the factory to get fixed along with the magazine that has the most problems so they can get the issues fixed. Not a bad video just disappointing groups but at least it's real not Cherry picked groups witch I appreciate
Dammm bro i have sympathy for u lmao b blessed
I never seen you shoot that bad what a mess

Those rifles were garbage and they are gone. I got another b14r and it’s also a lemon. 🍋 I don’t think I’ll be buying bergara rifles anymore
