Millions of American moms face maternity care deserts

According to a new report, fewer than half of rural hospitals in America have a maternity ward. In eight states, including Nevada, Florida, and Oklahoma, that number drops to fewer than a third. Matt Pearl spends time with an expectant mom in Pahrump, NV, who drives an hour each way to Las Vegas every time she has an appointment with her OB-GYN. She'll make that drive again when she goes into labor.
