Good point. I'm critical of a lot of Cold War-era propaganda from the communist side (as a communist myself), but this is an important point. Western propaganda is much more dishonest and is being designed for a different kind of society than most communist countries had. Most communist countries came out of previous governments which already had this kind of propaganda characterized by simplicity, cult of personality, etc. That being said, the amount of modern-day Western communists that basically copy 1950s Russian or Chinese propaganda is pretty silly.
