People complaining about the shallow etching obviously haven’t seen many JMars up close. His etching on the attitude and ECW belts was very shallow. Deeper is not always better
You are 100% correct. Also, the inner feathers are not as pronounced as you might think.

Nice belt. Although the etching looks shallow, latin text on the side plates is very clear. I think Altair need to work on the inner feathers of the eagle. Otherwise, nice belt.

Especially on the McMahon shield crest text

However the small shield text is Sharper on this than the loomis

His SD work is shallower etching so you don’t lose the details and get those waves and bumps like with other makers. His HD stuff is a lot deeper

Just wouldn't pay double the price for bit deeper
I think the plates are made in the same machine
