I'd argue xamanatos are better if you know Spanish, Japanese and Spanish are a lot alike so the meanings of every DIR EN GREY song carry over perfectly. I also like the way he edits.
I love xamanatos and all, and you are very right on his translations being great, but he doesn't go as in-depth as peri does with every song. I also don't know many people who would take as much time as she does.
This is definitely one of Kyo's best vocal performances. So clean and powerful, and spot-on, the whole way. These lyrics are very dense too... the translations can go many ways. Kyo has such a massive vocabulary and mastery of his language, I can even feel it as someone only slightly familiar with Japanese

I think, it's important to stick to whatever language you feel most comfortable with. Personally translating JP to ENG feels the most natural for me, because I've been doing this for years and I have kind of rewired my brain now, but I still feel like German gives you more poetical options and I wish I could make use of them sometimes; haha.
