This band is a group of artists unlike any other, they are the most reliable source of catharsis for depression. How can you feel alone when you hear music like this?
I don't think any other artist could portray such pain and loss as passionately as Kyo. Watching this, I think someone really broke his heart, he sings from the soul.
This Is the best performance ive ever seen, Kyo, i want you to know, you are the best, you were in my heart 15 years ago, when i heard you for the first time and you are still there. And you Will be there forever ❤
I’ve never seen such an emotional performance. Kyo is one of those frontmen that just captivates you for the entire thing. Probably one of my favorite live songs.
this is so intense... there aren't many singers that show emotions like this... Absolutely amazing. This song reminds me that sadness can be a form of violence too... so intense... I was speechless for a while...
When I was a teenager I used to play along with a quitar, listen to the song, sign, and cry. It was a way to let all out. I still enjoy this song, but rather with a smile on my face now-a-days.
Damn, I know this was mad long ago, but this shit really hurt my feelings. I hope, now that he's older, that he's healed from this time in his life. Kyo really deserves peace.
this used to tear my young lovesick heart to pieces omg... watching it now its still so intense but i cant help thinking "what were the other band members like, at a certain point they had to be thinking ""dude, he is having a full on breakdown. should we stop or-?""
Actually, watashi is a gender-neutral pronoun used by both men and women. But men mostly use it as polite/formal language. I'd agree though that in this context watashi seems very feminine and that the speaker is likely a woman I can't remember which interview it is, but Kyo states himself this is 'most likely', as the translation put it, from the viewpoint of a woman. Kyo has often done this, and it certainly doesn't mean he isn't channelling his own experiences and emotions through this song.
There's a girl that I loved for over two years of my short life ( I'm 17 years old) and she pushed me away. I spent this whole year trying to get over her, I thought I was but I'm starting to see that the progress I've made is small. There were so many times that I wanted to let go and act out like Kyo did but seeing him do it is what's stopping me. I think I'll never know the pain he went through regardless of how shitty I feel right now. Somehow this helps me. Damn I miss her.
Dude, I love how this song is so visceral, emotionally raw and powerful, and so is Diru's performance - but Kyo's self-harming scares the actual fuck out of me. How do Toshiya, Die, Kaoru and Shinya keep up with that?!
Well, they never were friends and basically everyone follows their own path, without caring too much about the other, so I think they really don't care about Kyo self-harming during the perfomance. They just play and let him be.
自決 Jiketsu Huh. But they work awfully well together to be in such a high-intensity band for so many years. If it's not any sense of friendship or brotherhood keeping Dir En Grey together, then what is?
Amane Mizuhashi DIR EN GREY it's... a weird band. They are together just because DIR EN GREY gives them freedom; freedom to express themselves in the music. They have said they don't even talk during recording song in the studio. I am trying to understand how this interesting and well-built music can really come for such a group of people who don't even talk.
Come back here just for add some salt into this fresh wound is mental, while other listener maybe back here with smile after listening to this masterpiece i'm still like hear it for the first time, just make this gaping hole larger But still this is masterpiece from kyo
Я из России. И это одна из первых песен, которая познакомила меня с этой группой. Это невероятная и проникновенная песня. Она очень личная и душевная. Прекрасная скорбь по потерянной любви 😢
Dir en Grey is without a doubt the best band in the world. Such an emotional performance. I noticed when Kyo starts the self-harm (poor Kyo), the other members will look at their instruments or look away from him.
I just saw that some people said on the comments that this translation isn't correct, may I ask how? this translation there is very correct. When you just re watch again, the only mistake you can point out is that in the breakdown part, where Kyo says ''hai ni naru'' (Reduced to ashes) is ''I love you'' which is not really a very big mistake, it can be misheard like that, and to be honest, I think it looks and feels better to listen to the song, and thinking he says that instead, it fits more.Watch other translations, everyone else subbed it like that, but Peri got the whole translation so much better and in literal meaning, it isn't really easy to translate Diru songs in literal meaning, if you really don't like her translations and even complain, I would advice you to translate Kyo's lyrics by yourself, this translation here is very correct.
Huh? Who said that? This is the first time I hear that. I checked my translation just now and it is fine, even after all these years ;v; You are correct, though, he does sing "hai ni naru" and not "aishiteru" - I must've misheard that while I was subbing...
I think he actually does, as later version stated "I don't love you" rather than "it turns to ashes" It actually fits the song more IMHO because it is the raw pain of lingering love that causes that song to be so powerful. What you think ?
Okay, so I'd like to know everyone's take on the disco ball. (You too, Peri) It's clearly relevant to the song, especially since it was brought out during the "Mode of" performance as well. I highly doubt Kyo is a fan of disco. For me, being American, that only leaves one thing: prom.
The disco ball is used as a stage effect to create scattered light that looks like "ashes" as referenced in the song. Has nothing to do with prom lmao.
I was sitting here crying from the song and I read "I highly doubt Kyo is a fan of disco" and literally lolled. I was enjoying the sad vibe too man. :p
I read that Kyo had a girlfriend who he loved and even engaged with her, and planning to get married with her, but later she cheated on him and that broke his heart so much, could that be about her? and I don't understand why would you hurt Kyo, he is a genius an such a beautiful poet and songwriter, watching him sing this painfully makes me cry.
uuuh, it's totally possible. I had a lover who was a relatively well-known singer and poet, and I can tell you he was (and still is) gorgeous to the eyes, and brilliant as a performer. I consider him a true artists, and his fans of course loved him crazily and consider him an idol, but on a personal level, he was just a common person, nothing special. Pretty boring, sometimes. Music is what makes him look like a great human being, I don't know Kyo but I guess it might be something like that ( Kyo artistically is on another level, I am aware of that, but we don't know him personally). The artist is one thing, the man another one. This justifies the absence of love, of course, not the cheating. if you don't love someone, before you betray their trust, you should just tell them. I don't know if my answer make any sense to you, but I felt like answering because your question was so passionate.
KremIsis Oh thanks so much for your answer! thank you for saying how my question was passionate, I think the same about your answer, and yes actually music is what makes a lot of people look so good, because you just see them in stage, singing, and a lot of people cheering for them, idolizing them, loving them, but not mostly seeing them despite the concerts, music videos and sometimes interviews, their friends, spouses get to know more about them and their personality, of course being a boring person just like you say can cause that, but betraying is just like you say is not justifiable, we don't really know Kyo personally much like you say, but we know that he doesn't believe in happiness and writes songs that are often about very disturbing and taboo subjects, it can be a case like you said but also can not be because we aren't friends with Kyo and we are just fans appreciating his music, but we can also see how much being betrayed hurt Kyo :(

This band is a group of artists unlike any other, they are the most reliable source of catharsis for depression. How can you feel alone when you hear music like this?
Kyo feels alone and he's the one making it. The fans need to reach out to him.
I used to listen this when i was younger and sad, but know im happy i still feel the sadness in my chest
Totally agree 💯👍
Helps me so so much ❤
I don't think any other artist could portray such pain and loss as passionately as Kyo. Watching this, I think someone really broke his heart, he sings from the soul.
Kyo really sells his emotions like no other. Just look at the shaking legs he does at the camera mid song. Dude was born to perform.
i agree, but also ruki from the gazette and tatsurou from mucc always impress me
This Is the best performance ive ever seen, Kyo, i want you to know, you are the best, you were in my heart 15 years ago, when i heard you for the first time and you are still there. And you Will be there forever ❤
I’ve never seen such an emotional performance. Kyo is one of those frontmen that just captivates you for the entire thing. Probably one of my favorite live songs.
Nothing can beat the sheer raw sadness of the first 30 seconds of this song. Nothing.
the last 30 too

Always come back to this live. Probably my favorite Diru live performance
That last "Watashi..." at the end fucking tears me apart every time.
It literally stabs my heart... Kyo put so much emotions to this performance, I feel his pain while crying towards the end.
Damn, I know this was mad long ago, but this shit really hurt my feelings. I hope, now that he's older, that he's healed from this time in his life. Kyo really deserves peace.
Frrr
I like how the crowd is so captivated that there is a lingering pause before they start clapping.
this used to tear my young lovesick heart to pieces omg...
watching it now its still so intense but i cant help thinking
"what were the other band members like, at a certain point they had to be thinking ""dude, he is having a full on breakdown. should we stop or-?""
Kyo is a fucking inhumane unique absolute genius
Kyo is such a great performer he's really feeling all that pain while he sings 🥺
Never really sat down and really listened to this until recently. It really hits hard and deep within your very essence. Lovely work as always.
The first song I ever heard by Diru, and the song that made me fall in love with them.
One does not need to know Japanese to feel the powerful conviction of this performance.
The lyric and the delivery by Kyo was really good and so emotional damn, this is so painful
Ended up here again…

This concert kills me. So much emotion
2021.... Still come back to this for the feels
5:45 this part.
I've known about Dir en grey for ages, but it wasn't until I heard a live of this exact song that I got totally hooked on them 😍😍

2021... and i still crying because this song
Man I wish they had played this song London.. It so heartbreaking and one of my absolute favourites

Interviews. Kyo says they are not friends all the time.
