Concerning Michigan, How did Washington get Will Rogers when both of our teams were in the final game and both lost their head coach, and we have more resources than them? Why are QBs all over the country in small, underfunded programs who would've gladly accepted a scholarship here better than ours? Why do we have to settle for this?
Fair question. My only real guess is that a run heavy offense is t fun for QB’s and WR’s. Funny that those are the only 2 positions basically on the whole team that we struggle to recruit. JJ McCarthy was the exception not the rule. Truth be told, Cade McNamara and Wilton Speight are the quid-essential UM QB’s.
Nope. Tom Brady, Jim Harbaugh, Drew Henson, Chad Henne, JJ McCarthy, John Wangler, John Navarre, Elvis Grbac, Brian Greise, Denard Robinson, Devin Gardner and Rick Leach say otherwise. Those are the quintessential QB’s at Michigan. PS. nothing wrong with Cade or Wilton Speight.
Im preparing for the Ohio State natty, unfortunately. The goal this year for Michigan should be waking up Warde Manuel to the fact that NIL is essential in keeping up with the big boys. The core of 2023 was built during the 19/20 recruiting cycles befoe NIL was as front and center. Our recruiting since 2022 has been garbage.
I see the same thing. Michigan should copy the Buckeye play book on NIL as well as Oregon and a few other teams. The 20 million payroll that we hear about is going to be low within a few years. Like it or not, the modern world of college football is professional. Either make the changes or become irrelevant 🤷🏻♂️
Michigan had a good run last year. Hands down, best team in the country , maybe lucky they avoided Georgia last year? We will never know. But here is the difference between Michigan vs OSU, Bama, GA.. It took YEARS of build up and extra guys with Covid eligibility to win a Natty. Then the next season Michigan has a huge drop off. I personally don’t think they will make the 12 team playoffs. The other teams compete at the top every single year and after winning the Natty or being close, they remain at the top the next year. These other teams have a huge loss each year to transfers and players leaving early for the NFL but they reload each year with incoming freshman and sophomores.
Another thing regarding Ryan Day, he has to beat Michigan this year or he 100% will lose his job. My uncle, who’s an Ohio State fan, said to me that he thinks that OSU brought in Chip Kelly to not only improve the offense, but as a warning to Ryan Day that he better improve from the last three years, bc they have his replacement lined up. I just personally think that another loss to Michigan would be devastating to Ryan Day and his job security, so he better hope that Alex Orji doesn’t develop into a competent passer. If he does, and Michigan finds a way to beat them in Columbus again, he gone
yeah none of thats true. What fans want to happen is not a reality with where the athletic dept is. His job is not on the line this year and Chip Kelly doesn't want to be a head coach in. Ryan Day was one of the biggest proponents of bringing Kelly bc of how good of friends they are
@@ericspicer5132idk about the chip kelly part but I think Ryan day has to beat Michigan this year. Especially after all the money they spent and the amount of players who opted out of the draft.
As a Buckeye fan I think the team is really good and talented, but we need to see how they handle the tougher part of the schedule. MSU is not a bad team this year but not upper tier. Still worry a bit about the Buckeye O-line. But they are certainly a solid top 10 team.
What is different about Ohio State this year is Chip Kelly. His command of the offense utilizes the talent better than Ryan Day did every year after 2019. Ohio State could have won national titles the last two years (missed FG in ‘22 and in ‘23 remember Buckeyes were driving for the winning score when McCord threw the INT against “you know who”) but Ryan Day became too predictable. Has the competitive been good? No but the way this team operates looks elite. Oregon will allow us to see how good this Buckeye team is then another good test against Penn State.
Steve said that Davis Warren was a MAC level QB. Does he know that Rouke is a MAC level QB, from Ohio University? Maybe he doesn’t know Ohio since they’ve never played. Unless he remembers UM running into them in a basketball tournament 😉 Go Bobcats!
You clearly didn't watch the Penn State game. They threw 2 downfield passes all game. One went for 20 and the other would of been a td had it not been for PI which was a bomb. Drew didn't struggle to get the ball down field cause they didn't push the envelope. What game did you watch bro? Psu didn't have to throw it or be fancy when they were averaging 6YPC nearly lol. They still nearly won by 20+ had it not been for missed field goals. PSU isn't a finess up tempo team they're ball control. ILLINOIS chose to take away deep shots with their defense and they got completely gashed on the ground. Yes Andy's offense is explosive however it's a 60% run heavy first kinda O. Idk what they'll do agaisnt OSU but this offense isn't the same at all from last year. Stats show it as well as other things. What a terrible take.
@jackstraw6880 it's wild to me cause PSU isn't constantly throwing bombs they're the same team. The reason why Illinois played the way they did was fear of being beat over the top. PSU is showing they can hurt you on the ground too.
I watched the game and saw the same thing with Penn State as I have seen the past few years. Allar is not going to get it done against a legit team. Actually I think last year PSU looked better. When Ohio State comes to Happy Valley, Buckeyes will win by double digits. As long as James Franklin is the coach better get used to 9-3 or 10-2 and a first round defeat in the playoffs.
How many losses will Michigan have going into the Ohio State game (which will be another loss). 6-6 isn’t out of the realm of possibility. It’s a disgrace for a program like Michigan to be this bad at passing the football.
Is that an insult? You think AL and GA aren't spending the same or close to it? Texas, Texas A & M. Many of them have been spending that much even before they were allowed.
Ohio State has a lot to lose. Spent s ton of money to win a natty. The question will be can Oregon score on demand per usual, if they can Ohio State loses. I think Ohio State wins though. But ohio state desperately has to prove that michigan only beat them because of sign stealing, fairly confident ohio state beats Michigan, however if they go in cocky they will lose
They are as good as we were last year. Saying that, we had 3 nail biter games we could have still lost. Maryland, OSU and Alabama games. And we didn't spend $20 million on a team either....GO BLUE!!!!!
Y’all spent 16 million, 5th most in the country. And have no qb. Yall acting like we spent so much and you a mere 4 million behind us. Which is chump change
Michigan had a team full of 5th and 6th year seniors that had years of experience. OSU and Bama rosters were filled with kids who were ACTUALLY between the ages of 18-22
Ohio State will have a better schedule than Michigan did last year. Being a buckeye, we always struggled in the past no matter who we played there was always glaring weaknesses. This year I don’t see that. Michigan played two ranked teams last year. Ohio state will probably play double that this year.
Who has Ohio State played???????? October 12th will tell us where they are. They have the talent and the roster, but they've had that the last 3 years.
I have to give him credit in one area. He recognized what had to be done, got the Buckeye machine to support his plan and executed it. To give up play calling and then getting Chip Kelly will save his job.
Watching Michigan struggle every week and somehow make a few plays that wins games reminds me of Iowa a few years ago. A team like Oregon will embarrass this team, then there is a team in Columbus who will be kicking its chops to play the Wolverines. I also see at least one other loss from the rest of the schedule. 8-4 is likely.
Lol Michigan will still beat Ohio State again this year so it really doesn't matter.
