I remember seeing an article about Bruno and the Cabri before I left france in 1991. He had hope that Eurocopter was going to build the aircraft, but they had no interest in a training helicopter, the commercial side for them was not making sense. it was a big mistake because it would have been a huge success. Glad that he was able to make it and deliver a great aircraft. He is a great guy.

Airbus or EC at that time or even today is too big to move fast enough in such a low entry market that is very price sensitive. He is better of being independent himself and remain a good cooperation with Airbus as a bonus income.

Thank you Monsieur Guimbal, had my very first introductory flight in the G2 this morning. Had full control for about 20 mins & I loved every minute of it. The G2 felt stable, easy to control, well engineered, well made, great attention to detail & most of all I felt safe the whole time. Looking forward to continue my PPL journey in your machine.

What an amazing interview, I'm sure glad you had the chance to speak to him and share with us how this great machine came about.
This is not the first yime someone has bought up Frank Robinsons comments regarding the R22.

The attention to detail in the Cabri is remarkable. Everywhere you look is beautifully designed and manufactured. It is a lot more money than an R22, but is really in a different league. I don't fly an R22 anymore - I think it is too marginal an aircraft for me as I don't fly nearly enough. Now that Airbus dropped the EC120 (the most lovely-looking single, ever) due to the cut-price competition, I wonder if the amazing Bruno will design a 4-place turbine ship. There surely must be a market between the R66/Bell505 and the H130?

Inspirational... I thought the name Giumbal comes from the word Gimbal, the tri axial movement of the helicopter rotors, and ability of a helicoptor to gyrate itself level.
But its a fitting similarities, its actually His Name !

I got my license in the Cabri 2. Chose it over the R22 due to increased safety margin.

WConn100 same here! I much prefer the rotor design and cyclic controls!
Much easier, safer & more fun to fly!

Are helicopter flight schools putting their budgets in front of safety their students and their employees by putting students in R -22's?

The R22 has a good track record. Low operating cost makes a business possible and students can afford their dream, otherwise it will be like studying medicine, at the end when you get your license you will be in debt for a long time except that in this case it will be in a career that pays with fun not money.

I had enough money to do it in a 22, but not a G2. Pretty glad i still has the choice to do it in a 22 otherwise I wouldn’t have a license.
