Plastic bags will gum up recycling sorting machines. They have to be put in bins specifically for those bags that sometimes you can find at grocery stores. With home and office recycling they go in the trash.

Also aren't some cups, plates, to-go containers and similar items plastic-lined so they can't be composted anyways and should probably go in the garbage. 3:37 this makes sense as does shredded paper. While containers here are shown lined with a bag, recycling must be loose and organics in a certified compostable bag.
