I'm trying to understand the bandwidth requirements of the front-haul bandwidth vs. actual OTA bandwidth for a 7.2 split and the 7.1 overhead of carrying beamforming information over the front-haul. Is there a way of calculating IQ bandwidth vs. OTA bandwidth? Which modulation schemes are most prevalent particularly for small cells which may be deployed in a private industrial network?
I'm also trying to understand timing requirements for the RU OTA interface and co-operation with other RU's and whether SyncE is implicit or whether it's just ptp plus local GNSS? I'm of the impression that 5ns RU sync is a requirement OTA but I'm happy to be corrected.
I am bootstrappping myself regarding 5G and am interested in it from the OSI layer 1/2 perspective primarily.
Any words of wisdom very much appreciated.
