  • After many winter codding sessions resulting in a blank, it was time for me to return to Arbroath for the last session of 2023, hoping that this trip results in a fish, thankfully it did!

Liked the video, like you I'm not that experienced at fishing for the Cod. Thanks for the Arbroath tips - it's on my list to do. Good effort mate, thanks for sharing.

Thanks mate, I love winter cod fishing in Arbroath but it’s hard going when your not getting many bites 😂 when it goes right it’s amazing

to give you some probably useless advice, as I am also a beginner to cod fishing and I don't know arbroath all that well, I would say fish the cliffs. there isn't too much of a walk and its some deeper ground. also cart and squid has been the only bait ive had really any luck on this year. overall had a shocking cod season so your not the only one😂.

Thanks mate appreciate it! I’ve just watched some of yours and subbed too, looks like we’ve fished some of the same places. Caught my first cod on the same mark you caught your haddock.

I’ve fished the cliffs a few times but I’ve only really done well with the cod fishing on a big sea which makes the cliffs unfishable, it’s a good spot at other times though! Issue is I live so far away I try to get the conditions to be as ideal as possible before i make the effort to go up

Well done, you don't seem to be doing anything wrong, just watch the water coming over the wall and you will be fine, now I'm getting too old for hopping around on the rocks, I fish the harbours more again and Arbroath is as good as any of them, best fish I saw caught there was 18lb, so you never know.
