Im a member of the Northwest Ohio Aquarium Society, love being in a loval fish club. I get so many of my fish from my club and other clubs meetings, swaps and auctions
fellow michigander fishkeeper, awesome fishroom you have and some very cool breeding projects your doing. enjoyed your fishroom tour and subbed today 10-17-2023 thanks again for the tour🙂👍
Great fishroom, lots of interesting fish. The hopping Pseudocrenilabrus multicolor victoriae suffer from what is called "Bellly Slider". It has no cure, it rarely cures itself. It´s a swim blader disorder.
Great tour!!! If and when you get around to spawning the tetras I would love to see a video on it. I just bred Emperor Tetras and I'm always looking for ways to improve my breeding techniques. Funny I was just thinking of dividing up my 33 long so I can breed more fish, but I couldn't decide on how many section. I like your 5 section set-up!!! Sub number 64 checking in!!! Keep posting!
If I were to redo it, I think I would make the center one wider than the rest. It's difficult to vac or do anything working around the center top brace. So just something for you to consider if you do something similar.
Hi mate, New subscriber great content. I was wondering what the thing is in the corner opposite the sponge filter at the 2.25min mark (looks like corner shelving) Regards Duzzy🇦🇺
That is a corner cave/hide made of slate. I have a few different sizes along with some pleco caves like that. I buy mine from a guy who is a regular vendor at local swaps. "Glass Cube Aquatics" he can be found on Facebook and he ships.
@@MichiganFishigan is it just shelves or does it have a back? They’re really cool and I imagine they’re used frequently by certain plecos. Regards Duzzy🇦🇺
Yes at fish club. But I'll have some to sell at my next stop at the Southeastern Michigan Aquarium Society swap 4/27 in Allen Park, MI. I will start selling on "Aquabid" and "get gills" in about a month when the weather is just a bit warmer.
I can't say for certain, but I don't believe they can. Even if they could, I'm positive eggs would be eaten right away, and hatched fry wouldn't have anything small enough to eat. When I do spawn them, I'll move them to a setup with better chances of keeping the eggs safe.
Weekly for most of them. Then a few get a change every 4-5 days. 180 about every other month (only 4 fish plus an fx6 w/charcoal), and the upstairs I try for monthly, but sometimes longer.
I'm pretty sure I kept them in too small of a tank for way too long when they were much smaller when I first got them. That led to poor water quality which in turn caused their condition. So 100% my fault and avoidable. About a week after I made that video I ended up with some surprise fry in the tank. And another five weeks later they are doing great, swimming everywhere in the tank and never "laying down".
About 25% from LFS's and online retailer's. Another 10% from Aquabid. The majority were all acquired from fish club, swaps, and auctions. in one of the clubs I'm in it's not uncommon for there to be 100+ bags in the "mini-auction" at the monthly meetings.
Thank you, can you tell me the general area or specific lfs you go to? I just set up a 55 in Aug. after 20 years without a tank, and I am in FULL RELAPSE MORE. The little demons in my tank keep telling me to spend MORE! @@MichiganFishigan
Southeastern MI and North Ohio. LFS's Cunningham Tropicals, Aquatic Treasures/Bruce's pond shop, Method Aquatics, and Stingray Bay are a couple of my favorites.
I plan to soon. I need to buy an oxygen tank first though. So far just clubs and swaps. Today 4/27 will be my 2nd time as a vendor. Southeastern Michigan Aquarium Society swap in Allen Park Michigan 12-3
great fish room.

Yeah it's a great club. I'm glad I joined NOAS also, I was one of the auction winners of Gary Lange eggs at the November meeting.

Nice diversity!
Really spacious too!
Great fish room.
I really like the cpd and reticulated hillstreams 👍🏾
Great video make, keep em coming.
Beautiful tanks!
I’ve been wanting golden barbs for a bit. Awesome setup and collection
Looking great sir thanks for sharing. What swaps are you considering going to?
So far Southeastern Michigan Aquarium Society swap (Allen Park, MI) Jan 2024 and Tropical fish swap of Michigan (Sterling Heights, MI) Mar 2024

Thank you for your insight, I will look into that.

@Michigan_Fishigan Do you ever sell off any of the Java moss?
Yes at fish club. But I'll have some to sell at my next stop at the Southeastern Michigan Aquarium Society swap 4/27 in Allen Park, MI.

@Michigan_Fishigan No problem, just asking because I'm North of Detroit so you're not all that far.
Love the setup, where are you located? I am in the Detroit area
I'm downriver.
@kbcw13 I'm looking for apistogramma, do you know anyone locally?
Hello, I’m wondering with the barbs getting to adult size, will the golds breed with the ruby?!?!

May I ask how often you change the water in your aquariums?

I have a colony of pseudocrenilabrus victoriae and they do not act like that. they are very active and aggressive fish.
