I prefer Samsung Messages over Google Messages because Galaxy Themes applies to it and better integration of Samsung apps and features in Samsung Messages. This is news to me. Multiple Samsung agents told me that Samsung is definitely NOT phasing out Samsung Messages and that the developers are potentially working on Samsung providing an instant messaging service that would be integrated into Samsung Messages. I guess we'll have to wait and see
They should add more features to Google messages and make it more of a "Made for Galaxy" kinda custom version for Samsung phones

So far I still have samsung messages, I don't use Google messages from day one, they shouldn't do this, not cool. Give us the option to choose what we like, don't force us, I guess it's an agreement between samsung and google🤷🏾♂️😔

At once time Samsung messages in the US had RCS support and it was before Google fully integrated RCS. We'll see how it goes, I think Samsung messages works better.

One reason for this might be a tie-up between Samsung and Google to make customers buy more Google storage and Samsung getting a cut .. Google has already forced us to buy storage and this might be another step to make us pay more .. Just a thought.

In the UK it looks like we can keep Samsung Messages. In Google Messages the link option does not show up but not that it matters as both Google Photos and Amazon Photos have that option. When you said that you turned on the link option you need to show how as I could not find any way to do so. You are certainly correct that Google Messages is a bit bland.
I have been using Google Messages for a couple of months but I have had several RCS messages from people I do not know so have deleted them. The messages require that I open them which is not going to happen.

As long as samsung users have theming and Keyboard access by Ssamsung, bring it on. Samsung messages is miles better only missing reactions which we need but not at the expense of losing the functionality we buy samsungs products for. Google and apple are catching up to what's important but samsung quietly has had all the hallmark features for many years

I'm on ATT and altho it says its using "advanced messaging" features, its not RCS. I prefer samsung messages but hate that i lose all the rcs perks that come with google messages like reactions and high quality media

They don't need to remove it , just allow us in the setup to select the default message app and the option to delete Samsung messages . This way everyone can choose what they want.

Do it and I'll go back to iPhone especially now that iOS supports RCS. I hate GM's UI and font! If GM don't implement true/amoled dark mode and still don't follow the phone's system font, I will ditch Samsung for iPhone.

You missed one very important feature, Samsung Messages ability to separate messages into categories. This feature is sorely missing in Google messages and is the main reason why i've stuck with Samsung Messages.

Yeah there are rumors about Galaxy store going away. But for that they may have to disintegrate theme store, Edge Panel apps etc so I am apprehensive about it... let's see

I basically switched to Google Messages because T-mobile and Samsung dropped RCS and I can check my messages on my laptop. They do need to improve and integrate more Samsung features into the Google/Samsung app.
Google messages does not have a dark black mode. I mean they can let us chose the dark mode or jet black. But no. We are using amoled and it will really help and it also looks cool

Lately I haven't been able to send video through Google messages, no matter how long the video it is it tells me to trim or lower resolution to send and just doesn't let me. Does anyone know a fix

Some apps should be streamlined across all Android devices mainly messages/video calling... there's no reason say Vivo/Oppo/Motorola should have different messaging apps and features that can't be utilized across all Android devices imo
Every app of Google feels old, they lack basic features, make things complicated. & Those sluggish app design looks for old generation who hardly used phone ever.

Google should add some features like Samsung and change user interface like Samsung/Apple. Also they should be allowed to use custom fonts in Google services such as google message, google dial, chrome all the google services.

Im in us and prefer samsung message. There are way too many problems and fewer futures with Google messages. Some of my friends used gm and always says that their messages were not sent or received. If samsung removes the ability for us to choose, I might be thinking of going to apple if, though I hate apple imessages, just works. I have been android since day 1 and samsung for 20 years.....#samsung
If this happens I'll be really pissed along with most Samsung users. This would definitely be a downgrade & move in the wrong direction. Samsung needs to listen & cater to their users unless they want to lose a lot of customers.
I believe they will remove it when Android 15 comes to all phones.
In every new versions some old features may go aways generally apps dont go but in this case it may happen. But definitely this is not good option and Samsung should give a choice of 2 messaging apps options to all users.
Funny enough I just downloaded Samsung messages from the Store yesterday.
I don't mind android phones only using google messages so we can improve the messages experience similar to apple but i do like the look of samsung messages better

I hope Google don't allow Samsung to overload the messages app for us. And the next thing I'm looking up to Samsung doing is the vertical scrolling in the app tray instead of horizontal scrolling
All Samsung messages have to do is add reactions, reactuons to iphone messages, and rcs messages in regions that dont have it
Samsung Messages is almost perfect!!! It's way better than Google's RCS app... The only problem is the reactions... Reactions have a better integration with Google Messages, and that's why I'm using it... Also, RCS does not appear on some Google Messages users when I'm using Samsung Messages, but when I'm using Google Messages, RCS does appear... And that's why I'm stuck with Google Messages...

Samsung native music player and video player were two apps I enjoyed now that they no longer support. Now the messaging app?! They have most of their native stuff on Google store to download as well. I don't envision Google taking over Samsung phone, but it's looking like it imo. Along with Microsoft. Barely has it's own identity these days as a competitor against Apple. I will admit that I use Google apps more than the Samsung one's because of the simple and clean look of Google UI.

LG did the same thing before they stopped making cellphones and LG's Messages app was better.

If Samsung msgs is going away, then Samsung should get surveys of what the customers want integrated in G msgs. Samsung msgs does have some cool features but I prefer G msgs
If Samsung ever did a survey, half of the features would still have been there ! Samsung Pay, for example. They launched it with the USP being its usability on all portals. Later, they limited it to just touch payment and people are cribbing about it.
