Jim Davis. Garfeld the musical: • Garfeld: The Musical! ... Check out @doomfoks and @seatbeltbutbetter they watched the movies with me and they’re cool Patreon: www.patreon.co...
It'd be hilarious if this movie was about Garfield being forced to reconcile with Heathcliff instead of his lost dad and it'd basically be a buddy comedy where they bitch about who came first for 90 minutes
There’s already a super obvious joke set up that sounds like they’re gonna make a Heathcliff reference but then they just don’t. Garfield’s like “you got the wrong snarky fat tabby cat!”
My favorite part was when Quintion Reviews canceled their Big Chungus Fallen Titans, and their life was brought to ruin for completely unrelated reasons.
I'm happy that he enjoys it, but, like, this movie didn't do it nearly as well for me. Like, he says that the movie creators "obviously knew the source material well" Like, huh? They obviously knew the basics, they at least managed to work in the spider gags and a few basic scenes that crop up in the comics, but really, if you're a "deep Garfield lore fan" you'll be sorely disappointed Spoilers so I'm just gonna spam enter a few times Lyman doesn't show up, Garfield's mom doesn't show up, Jon barely acts like the dork he is in the comics and barely shows up after the prologue...It doesn't feel like Garfield at all, they really just put Garfield-styled animals at the forefront and the only mainstays that have any real relevance to the main plot are Garfield and Odie It's not a bad movie, but it's not a good Garfield adaptation imo
Garfeld the musical literally looks like if Random Encounters made a Garfield musical and were going through an edgy phase, which clearly makes it peak fiction
Funnily enough, several Disney alumni were involved in this movie as well. The director Mark Dindal was a writer on Chicken Little and The Emperor’s New Groove. And one of the writers, David Reynolds, also wrote for Mulan, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Emperor’s New Groove and Finding Nemo. The connections to Garfeild and Disney go even deeper; way back in the 80s, Disney initially teamed up with Jim Davis to make a 2D animated Garfield feature film called Garfeild’s Judgement Day. But only some storyboards and a few songs were made before Disney backed out of the project due to its dark plot, and the movie was cancelled. The ideas and story of Garfeild’s Judgement Day would be re-worked into a picture book of the same name.
The Charles Manson scene in the musical caught me so off guard because the thing about Jon’s mother immediately beforehand hit me in a rather tender spot simply to build up to the best joke I heard the whole day.
Lyman does get referenced, but its so insignificant that its in just a scene with a whiteboard on the fridge thats says "call lyman." Its not even the focus point
out of everything I expected to play after the "video's over" fakeout, I never would've guessed it would be a review of a 44k view fanmade Garfield musical where Jon Arbuckle becomes an incel and Garfield and odie have to stop him from committing mass murder. i can't believe that's a real thing that wasn't made up for this video.
Yeah, they should've just got Frank Welker. Also, just cause its for kids, doesn't mean they have to make a bunch of merch or ads. Sometimes just a movie and clever and not invasive marketing is all you need. Even if the movie is mid at best. (Also not gonna lie that rubberhose bug girl from IF is an example of peak character design.)
I love how the concept of Jon losing his mind to the point where he starts slitting throats is plausible enough to exist in a fanfilm. I wonder if Garfield Minus Garfield is responsible. Edit: I just realized that The Garfield Musical is just a dark comedy fusion of Bohemian Rhapsody and Pink Floyd’s The Wall.
The thing about Chris Pratt as a voice actor is that he's...well, he's not exactly a voice actor. He's just an actor, and while he does fine enough with the line-reading aspect of voice acting, he's pretty one-note. He can only do one voice, that being... his voice, which is really distinctive. And it really feels like he can only do one _character_ as well, whether it's a voice role or an acting role. Emmett, Star-Lord, the guy from Jurassic World- they all feel like one guy in a lot of ways. A quippy, dorky everyman. Chris Pratt is best as characters that feel like they were written for him, built around him.
Stupid Hollywood making another funny orange cat movie, when they could've made a Calvin and Hobbes movie with Chris Pratt as Calvin and the Rock as Hobbes.
I had an h-box level pop off when I saw nermal. Like, the entire movie id lean over to my friends asking "...Nermal?" At random points hoping he'd appear so when i saw the fucker in the last two seconds i could not contain my excitement.
Still don’t understand why they keep trying to make garfield movies. They’re literally 3 panel comics that you read and go “heh”. They have no more sustenance other than that.
Because Garfield is iconic. And that 3 panel comic is exactly why it works so well. It's basic and have little to no complex storylines or characteristics they'd need to be aware of, which means more creative liberties can be taken. Garfield at this point is basically a template that can be utilized in almost any way.
@@spiderman23231Exactly. I personally enjoyed the Garfield show (the 3D one made by that French studio. It used to be shown on Cartoon Network in the US in the early 2010s). I found that one really enjoyable and funny as a show. So I think it can be a great idea, it just depends on if the studio is prioritizing cash or enjoyment.
