You helped so many people with this video. Never forget that! I bet, right in this moment, many guitardudes are practising with your lesson on the screen, including me. You're awesome! Thank you :)
the guy did the best buckethead lesson on youtube with a crappy camera many people use gopro and editing blablabla and never get to the point great video
Big ups man. What are you up to these days? Liked that you picked soothsayer to solo over. Those soothsayer solo's maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan. I get teary eyed every time I see him play it live. I just feel his emotions 100x more on stage when he's live and doing one of those sweeping runs repeatedly for like a minute or so, not even shitting you.
Hey man its been awhile since we have talked just wanted to say you need to get back on that guitar!!! Keeping busy with work always helps my playing over all...
Very helpful indeed. I noticed you played most of those legato, I find it more comfortable to pick everything, and I thought that's what bucket did as well.
Hey, great work and thanks for sharing that with the rest of us. I KNOW you put a lot of work into that ! It sounds like you too were awed by the "Soothsayer" performance in Cherokee St. Louis. I can hear it when you play. Thumbs up man !!!
Hey man ! Love all your Buckethead videos and other covers I tuned in a lot when I first started playing guitar currently I'm thinking of biting the bullet and putting a Killswitch in my LP in the same spot you have it ^^^ any chance you remember what Killswitch you have inside , how well it has held up over the years and how much it cost ??? I'd really appreciate it dude cheers !
I think some of the tabs are just very slightly inaccurate. But still congratulations on providing the best buckethead lessons on the internet. The part I'm quite sure is slightly inaccurate is around the 39th second of the vid. The tabs show you playing 7--6--4 on the G string then landing on a 7 on the D string, when it actually looks and sounds more like you're playing 7--6--7--6--4 (using that hammer on pull of type technique) THEN landing on the 7 on the G string.
To be honest I dont know... tabs confuse the hell out of me so I really dont want to go through it and check it. However if it doesnt sound good to you then follow your ear not some numbers. Thanks and cheers! :D
i’m trying to learn all i can of buckethead style . this video really helped. i can play it slow but how long does it take for someone to learn to get it up to speed n sound clean playing it that fast ? a month or so of practice ?
yo man.. been watching you for awile now and learning alot.. I know this isn't related to this video but I was wondering if you had any tips on keeping the notes clear when using the killswitch..? (I.e) your computer master video.. at around the 3:45min marker.. I have the notes just the sound seems to drown itself out after the 1st few hits of the switch.. any advice would be much appreciated thanks for reading :)
+Darrell Williams Thanks, there is not much to it really. Just hit the notes hard enough so they will ring out clearly and make sure you mute the other strings. Takes a bit of practice but its not that difficult, hope it helps.
On the part where tabs are first orange, are you hitting the first 12th fret g string with your index or little finger? I can't tell at which point your hand slides down. please help
Basically most of BH's licks are Paul Gilbert ones, just not as clean or as fast. Paul was obviously a massive influence to BH when he did teach him in the 80s.
zagrix Both picked and hammer on/pull offs, maybe if you look close you can spot which are picked and which are not but as a rule of thumb pick I always pick when changing strings.
not really. paul gilbert taught buckethead but buckethead learnt all his technique from pebber brown. he was allready a phenomenal player when he went to paul
paul G ..are some notes but likes he s solos more longer BH is like static(this is not a wickness..or easy or...).....and is not he s style is like 3 note per string scales .....bla bla bla..but is not the same ..the guy is right
It's a mix of picked and hammer on/pull off, even at full speed, just like in the video. I've heard buckethead play this lick while fully picking the notes sometimes though.
Allen Walker wow awesome. I can play it at normal speed but it's difficult to sound clean at full speed. do you recommend practicing with a metronome??
Well yeah, but actually if you play the lick exactly as in this vid, you'll realise that there's one extra note that shouldn't be here, either the first C# or the second B, or you have to play the first 3 notes on the e string slightly faster, so if you play this exactly as it is shown with a metronome you'll be off-beat. At full speed, it's usually the legato notes that'll sound too weak or the 2 picked notes while switching strings (the A and B) that can be a problem, so just break those parts down and practice them separately, then put them all together when you're comfortable playing them.
That first one is iconic.
Always love it when he plays it in solos.

And me!!!
5 years later, I still recommend this video to guitar friends. I had over 3 years to get it done like in the video.
9 years later but you are nuts my man
if i learn how to play like that my life was worth it right away
It's 2 years later. You have nobody to blame but yourself if you haven't learned.

Hey man its been awhile since we have talked just wanted to say you need to get back on that guitar!!! Keeping busy with work always helps my playing over all...
What you're playing on the second lick doesn't match the tab, so wich is correct, You or the tab?
sounds like buckethead, good job mate!

Thanks man this is awesome! With that first lick, which notes do you pick?
that sweeping lick is sooo sweet
Really good. Thanks for going to the effort of putting up Tab it really helps.
On the part where tabs are first orange, are you hitting the first 12th fret g string with your index or little finger? I can't tell at which point your hand slides down. please help
If you mean the 1:00 mark, I play 13th fret with the pinky and pull off to the 12th using the ring finger. Hope it helps.
honestly amazing and thank you for the tabs
O my god. This tabs are gold. Thanks so much.
Is it all pick or with hammer-on and pull-offs?
What's the technique at exactly 1:50 I like when buckethead does that but I don't know how or what notes or anything? Help please.
Now I know what to do for the rest of the day... and it's still morning.
you are awesome...any advise on how to be this quick? :-)
Thanks man. I needed help with the shred part of soothsayer
Thank you very much dude, this is amazing. Keep up the good work 🤘🏻
I’ve practiced this for weeks now. Still can’t play it as fast. thanks a lot for the lesson though
Can you play it now tho, after 11 months?

What notes are accented in the first lick? Can’t sync up w a metronome
Hey man you just tabed out every one of his solos nice work.
Can someone explain to me when should I pick the strings, and when should I use down or up pickings?
Thank you for uploading this like you said you would!
Nice playing, my dude
podras subir mas licks de buckethead ? muchas gracias por esto ¡¡

currently practice the first one, gonna dedicate myself to learn this shit!
Nice job with the licks. You're like me learning by ear. I think it's easier learning by ear than it is reading tabs n shit lol
Thanks man hopefully I get this good after lots of practice this year
How many time do you play guitar?
How to play it with metronome, i mean how to divide each sequence to work them separatly ?
triplets 1 triplet per bit
How do you play that little riff at 1:53? I can't figure that part out correctly
9-11-12 on the D string and 10 on the B.
You're the man! Thanks for this ;)

Can you post a video of how to play his nightrain solo ?
