What's your favorite guitar effect? I'll give away a pedal of the most popular choice.
fuzzzzzzz
overdrive, definitely
Delay!!!
Distortion
Has to be overdrive
That sounds like the notes are being sucked back into the pickups. Trippy.
TIHI
sounds cool
Nice profile pic
Well the pickups do suck in the vibration
@@colgatelasaga428 right, its be more like spitting the notes out
Not knowing what reverse delay is, I briefly thought the notes were going to come from the future.
Lmao same
Hahaha same, i was like "how does that work?"
Bro same. I was like “🤔”
giggity
Felt stupid when I realised how it actually works
Not Hendrix, it was George Harrison who first used it. 1966 album Revolver, "I'm Only Sleeping". It was a shocker. Jimi studied it and applied.
I just listened to revolver in study hall, so this was the perfect video to see when I got home
Yeah! I just realized that. Eve tho I always listened to that song
Goran Sinadinovic did he also use it on tomorrow never knows?? Wondering so that I can play it properly
@@evanelgart5449 yep
That wasn’t reverse delay. George recorded the solo, then he reversed it and played the riff backwards. Dream theater did the same thing in Six Degrees.
Up next "Inverse Delay" Plays notes even before you play them....
Yeah but it really puts a lot of pressure on the player. If you miss a note you break the space time continuum.
Inception Delay is the ultimate delay.
pastorkev777 Inception Delay: Delay within a delay, within a delay, within a delay...
guys TENET delay beats you all
Woah
This sounds like it would be good soundtrack to a movie montage where person is really confused.
Doctor Strange ?
How about Tenet?
Pretty sure I've heard "sweet Satan" at some point...
Victorien Riebert Actually, I heard “I love sanTaaaaa! hE iS mYY cHRiStMas KiiiiiIiNNNNGGGG”
Is this reference to "stairway to heaven" weird theory? Lol
Yes sir
its fun to smoke marihuana
He'll give you 666
Drown the reverse delay in distortion and reverb and you'll get shoegaze. The song 'To Here Knows When' is a great example of reverse delay.
Laughed when I first read this because it’s nothing but fax 😂 currently using an Earthquaker Afterneath V3 into a Walrus Audio Warhorn. It’s really cool for jamming but kind of a pain in the ass for recording but I manage.
I own th Boss DD-20, and after a lot of fiddeling around i now use the reverse delay exclusively, in a very specific set up: I dial in the next song's tempo, set the delay on 8th notes, one (sometimes two, tops) repeats, and around 25% mix. it gives this huge sound, and because it's reversed the delay's attack doesn't interfere with the "dry" tone so my own playing still comes out through it. I absolutely love it.
I personally love the phaser. It adds such a nice texture to rhythm guitar parts and makes solos swell to new heights. Phasers rock man 🤘🤘
Awesome video as always, bro. Reverse delay is definitely one of favorite effects. That uniquely dreamy, ethereal tone can indeed evoke some very intimate moments between the player and listener.
You are the definition of "content creator" keep going,
*sends love*
I love the effect of when you add reverb to a reversed recording and then you reverse it again. Therefore the reverb comes before the actual sound
such a fun effect. I call it "preverb."
My brain hurts
Early reflections on the alesia midiverb tries to emulate this.
Like the very start of The Pot by Tool?
yes i use this in producing a lot
Love the reverse setting on my delay. There's hours of fun to be had just plucking notes and making trippy ambient stuff
Finding this in a recommended video at 2 in the morning, it was beautiful the sound that was coming out. Simply amazing. Now I just need to up my game and get something like this
I remember using reverse delay for some guitar tracks on MAKEOUT's Ride It Out. Was a SUPER fun time using it! Really cool to get a history lesson and watch you mess around with it :)
I have been using reverse delay just recently with my fender gt 100 , I play a lot of John frusciante covers so that’s why , I love this while covering give it away as well as time tonight etc etc
This reminds me of a pedal I was shown 20+ years ago that I can't remember the name of but that I desperately wanted (yet it was too expensive for me at the time). I had shown my guitar teacher the intro of "Within" by KISS (which was produced by reversing the tape) and he brought out this pedal that would make the notes you were playing sound just like the tape was being reversed and reproduced that intro right in front of me. It was very cool. I had been writing some neat stuff that involved reversing the recording, but it was often difficult to get it to sound just right, but with this pedal I could make sure it sounded exactly how I wanted. Maybe one of these days I'll find out what that pedal was and track one down.
Dig is my favourite Incubus song and it never gets enough love! Thanks for the video
Just the other day I decided to play around a bit with all the various settings of my DD7 delay pedal, and I found the reverse delay really really nice for making the guitar sound more ambient, better than just a standard delay would do.
Its like a more expensive dd-7, you know since the boss dd-7 got reverse delay on it.
A lot of people say Danelectro makes the best reverse delay though. The originals were going for +300 dollars, probably for a reason other than rarity
One of my favorite pedals. DD-7
Jimi Hendrix with Castles made of sand - Hold my beer
@Philip Schlaepfer all Hendrix-Solos are nice
Athanasios Walther Jimi was so ahead of his time
Also Drifting by Jimi has an awesome reverse delay part in the start of the song
Philip Schlaepfer you should look up Eric Johnson’s cover of this, he does the reverse solo some serious justice, with his own flair
@@TheJackKnite no doubt he was. But, imo George Harrison was the first one to do it on I'm Only Sleeping on the Revolver album. There could be people before Harrison who might've done it but I don't know em. So, Harrison was the first guitarist that came into my mind.
You made a great point about how pedals spur a guy's creativity.. I've experienced that when buying some new toys. Ended up playing things I probably wouldn't have done had I not played with that pedal (TC Electronic's "Hall of Fame 2").
OMG WHERE HAS THIS EFFECT BEEN MY WHOLE LIFE. I'VE WANTING THAT EXACT SOUND FOR YEARS!
Oh man, a pedal made out of Shoegaze! My guitar would love it. In fact, the first sound my guitar ever made was "DUR DUR DUR DUR VROOOOOOOOOW VREEEEEEE VROOOOOOOOW VREEEEEEEEEEEW"
that’s reverse reverb
@@pixussb7524 I know :)
0:25 Wow thats just a beautiful set of notes
I've just ordered an old Marshall echohead on Ebay solely for the reverse delay having fallen in love with castles made of sand as a kid. Can't wait to try it out.
Gonna get blasted for it, (I know there was ALOT of studio magic going on during the recordings) but Boston/Def Leppard tones from the old Rockman. Hard to reproduce live because of the studio magic, but they both did a pretty dang good job
Definitely should do the blackened intro
Also Damage Inc.
that's not actually reverse delay; the tape is literally just played backwards
@@benparsons4979 ur right, it would sound kinda different with RD... but I think on Damage Inc. They used it
Ben Parsons eh... it’s the closest thing he has to actually playing backwards
@@rtomas47 damage in intro is bass. Theres no rd it's just cliff using an Ibanez hd1500, wah, and volume swells
0:16 sounds like a save room theme for an old PS2 game
Oddly specific but ok 👌
Delay with distortion was pretty sweet. Thanks for the great videos
The Hackers Soundtrack had a song with guitar and digital reverse delay.. Something about those high guitar notes and the delay following it up that gives such a good feeling, to me personally..
That intro was amazing wow 😯

I have this effect in a boss gt effect processor and its dope as hell
Gives me a "I'm only sleeping-harrison solo" feel
I love your channel and enjoy watching every video
I could totally see Plini or Sarah Longfield playing with this! Trippy af!
I think slow chordal work will work the best especially for a intro to a song
One of my favorite bands “Bloc Party” uses the reverse delay like the into of the song “Like eating glass” and some other songs. “Positive Tension” on the solo does a really cool effect with the delay.
Man, I can't stop focusing on the guitar...it's so beautiful.
The only pedal I have is a DigiTech RP-255, and I love the punkz setting. It’s great for playing blink-182 songs. It also has this one setting that makes the guitar sound like what I can only describe as a dying space cat
Which setting is that ?
George Mathew it reads “jis2ar” on the screen. It might be an abbreviation, but I don’t know what for
Got a BP 50 bass guitar effect pedal
I thought you might do Peter Buck's solo from "What's the Frequency Kenneth?"; played backwards, and upside-down and backwards on Kurt Cobain's Jag-stang.
Imo, one of the coolest effects out there
Dude I love your videos. And my favorite guitar effect is Delay.
The perfect delay if you're into Post rock like Hammock :)
I created an Instagram account just to enter this giveaway. I never thought I'd create one. I'll delete it afterwards.
The best reverse delay pedal is the Stereo Memory Man w/Hazarai. Not just the tonal quality, or the feature to go full-wet signal, but the momentary reverse. That feature alone is so versatile. I use that setting as a standard lead delay, and then when I want a phrase reversed, I hit the tap switch for up to 6 seconds of reverse. So easy to use, unlike the very nature of reverse delay, and it's very creatively inspiring.
So awesome. Dig is probably my all time favorite by Incubus too.
The intro riffs for “I Walk Alone” and “Within”, both by KISS have a pretty cool reverse effect
Someone please help, what is the song he plays at 4:07 I’ve heard it or something like it before I think in one of the rocksmith games
That sounds AMAZING
I do love seeing your "knob adjustments"
It’s an interesting delay pedal and that tone towards the end was good, but I still prefer a simple analog delay pedal mainly either a Boss DD-2 or a Aqua Puss Delay. Slapback is a good delay if you set the knobs in the right way to balance it out.
"I want to be a part of TesseracT so f***ing much"
-kmac
Dude it sounds beautiful
I have one in the Zoom unit I use and its really fun to play around with. You can make some pretty cool things combining it with a regular delay or any other type of delay really.
I bet all the audience with this automatically starts to listen subliminal messages
Tyler needs to be introduced to bands like "god is an astronaut" and "long distance calling" if he likes crazy delay walls of sound.
LOVE it! Thanks so much!
That sounds amazing!!
This is just great, now I want a reverse delay pedal. You ass!
This pedal makes me feel like when you scratch your teeth accidentally whilst eating
I knew this effect only from solos in Give It Away (RHCP) and it was amazing
Best Reverse delay solo:
Soda Stereo - Terapia de Amor Intensiva (MTV Unplugged)
That moment blew my mind. It's just perfect
It took me about 5 minutes to try to decipher that it said delay in the thumbnail lmao

HEAVY, HEAVY John Fruciante vibes.
This is that George Harrison Revolver sound is like
I don't know about you but I just recently found out that some reverse guitar sounds can sound so beautiful. Like memories of the past when you were little.
that's pretty f'in rad especially the "straight into the amp can't do this" part cuz damn that was cool.
I thought George Harrison invented the backwards sounding guitar solo
He did and Hendrix studied it

ultimadum Good Charlotte?
@@nehemiahzo_ no my amigo it's a band they use the effect a lot
ultimadum ah, I thought you were talking about the Good Charlotte song. I’ll check em out!
It sounds like its backwards but still forwards if that makes sense. Really cool.
That's such a cool pedal! I'm not a pedal freak by any means, but I gotta get one of those!
It would be great if an un-reversed delay pedal does exist.
Resi Saputra dude you should make it!
Repeats sounds backwards - AWESOME, this is what I need to communicate with my wife!
I think this is my new favorite guitar effect
Flashback 2 by TC had a reverse delay built in with the mash button, it plays everything backwards 😊
Blackned intro
YES
That's not really a reversed delay - it's just the actual tape played in reverse, which you can't really emulate unless you have a looper with a reverse function.
Timothy Valles I know but why not delay. I think it would be nice.
I misread it BLACKED intro
It would be interesting...
Habits of Andres Segovia
Schismatic Temperament that would be awesome!!! But I don’t think he’s into classical like that
My favorite reverse delay moment is “The Ides Of March” by Silverstein intro
At 0:15 and similar shots I kept thinking there was a cookie peeking up over the shelf behind you. :-)
I'm something. At the time I'm typing, nobody commented, but that has prob changed while I'm typing. So... first?

Love the hat.
I could see some cool uses for this pedal within contemporary Christian music
