Great review. You're right that there is a real gap in the scene for gamebook reviews! 100 sections is super short and I wouldn't mind it if other writers tackled gamebooks that size - its a pity that this one is a disappointment!

Very good review with nice detail and concise coverage of the game play material. I'm not a huge fan of this style of game play and wouldn't normally purchase this type of book but you gave an interesting and honest review that sparked some curiosity in me to check out these adventure books. Thank you for the review.

It's not mean it's constructive. We can't enjoy everything and critizing will help other people understand if that book is for me or any other person. Saying only positive things don't really help. That's why I don't follow much people (reviewers and such) and I prefer sticking with people that I See critizing a book It this age, unfortunately, critique = mean person which is totally false. Please continuing be yourself. That's why you already have 2,5K subs . They want that Livi and not one that only say good things.

Livi. Today, I was thinking about this video again, and even though your points are valid, and this video is not mine. I feel very sad about it. I think it is a total disregard for the author. Especially coming from you, someone who has clearly stated the struggle people have regarding mental health, self-esteem and self-worth, I think you cared very little about the impact this might had on him. So I'm disappointed in your lack of empathy. Again, although your points seem valid, I think they are not worth for the harm they cause keeping in mind this is the first book of an indie author.
I don't know the guy, but by his comment I could read he was definitely hurt, that really sucks...
You might argue that your video has an honest purpose of reviewing the thing and giving a "constructive criticism". But by your energy it can be seen that the function of it goes more in line with venting out/displacing aggression probably because you felt you wasted your time reading it. I find it very curious that between your distant uploads you decided to post this, instead of videos you know your subscribers and supporters are eagerly waiting for. So I do think there are more emotional reasons behind this video than the ones you say. I do wish my luck to the author and I hope he keeps trying, and my words of comfort for him are, bad exposure is better than no exposure... For better or for worse.

On the contrary, I thought very long and hard before posting this review. This video was even scripted, something that I very rarely do. The only other review I ever scripted was for "Zombie Solitaire", and that was also because I had somewhat heavy points of criticism for its art. I chose my words very carefully, specifically trying to do the least amount of harm while still staying true to a fair and honest review. I spent two weeks reading and re-reading this book, and I felt like I had done so enough to have a fair assessment of it. Trust me, I hate having to release a negative or mixed review, but I feel like this is part of my job as a reviewer. If I only ever released completely positive reviews would I even really be a reviewer or would I be an advertiser? The decision to make this review was based on two things: 1- I wanted to review a gamebook since it had been a while since I talked about one last. 2- The natural choice for which book to review was this one, since a viewer had bought it for me, and I have a policy of eventually reviewing everything that people are kind enough to gift me.

This seemed like a fair review, with carefully argued critical points. It didn’t seem emotive whatsoever to me. Positive points and areas to improve were given. These are probably the most helpful reviews for this type of book, as a publisher or editor would probably be even more harsh!

This is a completely ridiculous comment, a review is about the object in question (the book), what does it have to do with the author? By this logic we can't give any negative feedback (though I would call this review constructive criticism. If no-one informs you the truth, how are you going to ever improve?)... This review was fair and well presented in a very respectful manner. In the hands of another reviewer, this book could have been ripped to shreds...image not even being able to get your title consistent across the front cover, spine and cover page...! If an author doesn't care enough about their own work to even get these simple things correct...
