Most of the cast have also worked with Obsidian on various properties, including the CRPG Pillars of Eternity Series. Obsidian does tend to handle rich worlds and character dialogue and interactions very well. So I’d be down for a VM, M9, BH or even a unique non-campaign party created from the ground up by the CR cast developed by the folks at Obsidian, especially if Josh Sawyer and/or Kate Dollarhyde were to be involved.
Obviously the whole cast has strong ties with many studios and developers from all their years working as voice actors in dozens and dozens of projects. But they did also help develop Tales of Kenzera: Zau from Surgent Studios & EA (which coincidental, I think I'm right in saying, was announced at last year's Game Awards). Obviously that was a much smaller game and very personal project for director Abubakar Salim so the studio probably won't be diving into another project this soon. But Crit Role might have built up a partnership with folks at EA originals and may be talking with other studios that have worked with them. Maybe like Josef Fares's Hazelight Studios
@@matthewsnow-zj1cu Much as I'd love to hear it's Obsidian, they do have a lot on their plate already and have been burned hard working on somebody else's IP enough that they swore off ever doing so again. Granted, that mindset could change or maybe Critical Role is the right partner for them to set that aside.
For an actual answer, I think the studios shown here are the ones that Critical Role mentioned in their recent interview as being the industry experts who provided them with advice and learning experiences, but are not the studios they're working with to create a Critical Role game. I feel like the likelier scenario is that the first videogame will be a retro/indie experience.
@@saviourking2548 That’s fair and also the cast have worked with most major and minor studios at this point! I was pleasantly surprised that Messr. Mercer lent his voice to at least one character in Solasta, despite that being from a French Indy studio. Also as much as I’d love to hear they are working with Summerfall Studios, because David Gaider is a wonderful writer, I’m not sure they’d have the scope yet for what CR fans might expect. That would be my other dream pairing. Laura was the main VA for the protag in their game, Stray Gods, and Ashley has a prominent role as well as many regular CR guests cast, like Khary Payton.
I honestly think Larian’s strength lies in choice-driven original narratives. Making a turn based RPG about a group of characters that have their decisions already made for them is kind uninteresting.
@@adityasivaram6175 that's the thing, it could just be one throughline, game with multiple endings and alternate realities based on players decisions. could be cool. It'd basically be a what if game, and with some dialogue options leading to the canon events. others that create branch paths with totally new stories and outcomes.
Since we have zero information on what the genre of the CR video game will be, I find it very difficult to pin point a specific studio. We have to remember ourselves that it will be Critical Role's first IP and their first step in the production of a video game. Massive studios like Larian, Remedy, or Naughty Dog feel like an unreachable dream. Those studios are specialized in Triple A games and I find very hard to believe that CR's first game will be a Triple A. It's not because they're veteran voice actors who have worked on HUGE IPs and have good relations that these studios will directly agree to partner with them for that endeavour. But hey, I would like nothing more to be proven wrong on that.
Its also entirely possible they could be using Daggerheart which isn't even close to a D&D system. Also don't forget about Obsidian as a possible studio. Naughty Dog and Remedy don't have experience making CRPGS. And studios generally like to keep in their lane. And I don't see a a critical role game being anything other than AT BEST a Action RPG. I think its more likely to be something in the vain of BG3 or Pillars of Eternity. So my money is on Larian or Obsidian. The cast also has big ties to Obsidian. They voiced many characters in POE2 and did an entire critical role voice pack for that game.
@@russellsutherland8101 lol your old ass. Try not to grow up too fast. I'm in my mid 50's and that makes me old enough to know better but young enough to keep doing it anyway. lol its Wizards of the Coast. They have owned D&D after buying it from TSR in the late 80"s.
So what studio do YOU want to create the critical role video game? Let us know in the comments!

Critical Roles 3 campaigns made into a dnd style game by Larian Games is the dream still.

Naughty dog + critical role would honestly be a match made in heaven.
larian? LARIAN? LAAAAARIIIIAAAAN!!!!!!
Larian is literally doing their own thing, they won't do it.
@byte-bg4ob i reject your reality and substitute my own

Holy shit, I would LOVE it if Remedy made a CR game.
Same! I can’t stop thinking about it, tbh.
larian could do Critical roll its Not WoTC so i would love to hear that one of the two lairian has hinted at is a CR game. here is hoping.
Hey man, just for my old ass... What does WOTC stand for? 😅
