They're supposed to be "The Inbetweeners", so not cool or uncool, average, yet Jay in the USA version looks like the biggest loser in the show
I don't think any of the actors suited their characters in the US version to be honest e.g. Will doesn't look much like a nerd and Carly was a reasonably attractive girl in the British version, while in the US version she was a super model. Even the smaller part characters as well, like the guy who approaches Simon after Jay saying "bus wankers" (or "bus turds" in the US version) - he looks terrifying in the British version which is what you'd expect from a hard man who's been insulted, while in the US version he doesn't look terrifying at all
Overall, I would say they were just lazy with the US version - I think they could have thought of their own ideas instead copying most of the British version word for word, and they definitely could have picked actors that suited the characters better. Or better still, they could have not remade it at all - if you love a show so much, why remake it when you can watch it anyway?

Maybe the worst attempt at adapting a scene in this is the cafeteria. The original "Simon has a boner" skit takes place in a common area. The guys are just hanging out and talking shit at the end of their break, when the incident happens.
In this version, Simon has LITERALLY just sat down, and has not even cracked his juice-YOU CAN SEE IT IN THE SHOT, and has not even touched his lunch. Despite this, Carly and Wendy are going to class, even though now is Lunch service, and the others are wondering why Simon doesn't... abandon the food he has just paid for to walk a girl to class.
Literally none of it makes sense.

The pacing is so rushed. We barely understand what kind of people they are (apart from one-note, overly theatrical, badly directed versions of the originals). Will especially has no nuance, way too much... nothing. The buying alcohol scene is the worst offender. It's as if he doesn't care if he gets served or not, he doesn't have any snarky wit, he barely shows emotion. Even the shop owner is boring and badly directed.
All the lines are either completely monotone or way over the top.
The four of them don't belong together visually, and their attributes don't go with their personalities. Jay shouldn't be the fat one, Will shouldn't have styled hair, Simon shouldn't look so attractive and Neil is just.. wrong on a human level. He has none of the enthusiam, sincerity and good nature of the original.
The show doesn't feel relatable or really reflect real life at all. It's too pretty and cinematic, not to mention how all the dialogue sounds absolutely nothing like how teenagers (or anyone) speaks.
An American inbetweeners could work, but you'd have to reinvent everything for the new audience. If nothing else it's a wonderful case study in how not to write characters, block scenes and pace a story.

Even if these guys are good or not , the British accent just adds that thing and makes it funny
