In audio circuits, the AC signal is guided, amplified, colored, “improved” by the DC paths working behind the scenes. The networks of resistors, capacitors, transistors etc all work to filter out unwanted frequencies and shape the AC signal path towards the final output transformer. We are that DC path. Our job is not to be the focus, it’s to make sure the focus is heard optimally in as many different ways possible.

I think it's very important to build a relationship with our clients, communication is always key.
What really is important is the mindset of corporation, working together to make stuff better.

Its most of the time not possible to tweak after getting feedback from the mastering engineer, like i cant call the mixer and have him do a recall. Also getting feedback when you dont want feedback can just make the process so much more self doubting, and everything is subjective. But for me when ive spend so much time on the project and its tile for mastering, for me its finished tweaking, not really the time to go back. Most mixers wont do another recall months later regardless hehe

Communication? I'm lucky if I receive folders or files that include the artist's or client's name, or tracks that have been *listened to* before being sent to me.

Conversations MUST work both ways. If, as the Mix Engineer, I ask and the client doesn't answer, things will probably go "wrong" as there is no defined target. A client not engaging is a red flag to experienced engineers.
Similarly sending Slayer songs as the 'need to be like' when the record as it sits is Nirvana Lite is not a useful target. It can be the start of a conversation but if the assumption is that a decent Mix Engineer automagically knows your thing, or they suk, it will lead to dumb or broken outcomes.
    Conversation is everything.
    :-)
