15w40 mineral oil in diesel engine? manual says 5w30 or 10w30 for these engines. Oil must comply with acea a4/b4 or C3 standards. Oil system flush, what is that? You cant drain oil completely and this would mean that you leave 10-20% of these chemicals in your system and then increase its concentration even more at the next change. Everyone in the industry knows that these extra chemicals are a waste of money and not recommended by manufacturers. Also if your car got dpf filter that oil will kill it over the time. Very nice video showing the process but i disagree with that mineral oil and chemicals
Glow plugs dont do a lot in diesel engines, generally these are not really required if its not cold outside. My 2007 saab 93 worked with 2 plugs failed, no problems, easy start.
I would not chance that ridiculous service interval, being a mechanic for nearly 40 years I have seen many things, and all too often engine failure due to following such ridiculous service intervals, my recommendation based on experience, is 15000 kilometres or 1 year whichever occurs 1st diesel engines should be sooner, like 10000 kilometres or 1 year whichever occurs 1st, due to the corrosive qualities of sulphur which is present in diesel fuels. There is no substitute for clean fresh oil as it contaminates so quickly.
Thanks for supporting my channel with your visit and interaction Wayne, oil is sometimes a personal choice, fully synthetic oil is mostly an overkill, there is no substitute for a regular oil change although some are of the opinion if you use synthetic oil it allows longer service intervals, this is a myth one should be aware of, but there is also no substitute for peace of mind. The oil I used here is recommended for a wide range of diesel engines and is one of the best oils available for this purpose. Wishing you an awesome 2021. Gary
Thank you for the video. Very helpfull. But I have noted a few flaws. 1) Oil should be 5w30 or 5w40 full synthetic 2) Thread tape on the sump plug , not sure if that tape will handle the heat of the oil. Might disolve and block something of picked up by the pump. 3) I would rather use oil for the rings instead of grease. Otherwise nice to see a South African video for a change 😅 I do however have a question regarding the Diesel filter that is mounted behind the ECU . Do i have to disconnect the plugs from the ECU to remove the Diesel filter with housing, or can I just loosen the ECU bracket and move it away so I can acces the Diesel filter? Thank you for the video. Did help me as I have never serviced a Kia before.

I have the same car kia sportage 2011. I used my car only during vacation and every week shopping. Every year I drive around 5000 km only. Is it necessary to change oil and filters every year or i can wait till 10000 km( may be two year). Thanks if you reply me Best regards
You Always use the engine flush liquid before the oil change takes place. I assume you use this because you suspect internal contamination in the oil flow circuit of the engine, or in cases where the last oil change is unknown. I hear a theory that if you do this and you let the old oil filter in place during the flush, it still is contaminated and with the oil flush contamination particles cathed in the old filter wil be loosened and circulate again trough the engine during the 15min flush period. Therefore it would be better to change the oil filter twice, according this theory. So the loosened contamination during the flush, will be catched first by a new clean filter. Then, the old oil including flush fluid will be changed and the oil filter too. With this , the flush cleaning would be more effective, also because the flush only takes 15 min. to clean, in contrary to other flush liquids which stay in the engine for a few hundred KM before an oil change takes place and has a longer period to clean the circuit. What do you think about this?
Thank you for your answer. I believe there is a practical problem as well when changing the oil filter twice, once while the old oil still is in the sytem. Then it would be very messy to change the filter for the first time with the old oil still in the system, that is when the oil filter is located on the underside of the engine. IMHO the changing of the filter in between, only can be done at cars where the oil filter is placed on top of the engine.... OK, all clear, thanks!
Excellent explanation I really appreciate this, my only question is I see in the video you didn’t change the diesel filter were you not suppose to change that? Do you change diesel filter every time you do a service? please advise?
It works well as this vehicle is serviced by me for many years with no problems, Rimula is specially manufactured for diesel engines exclusively, and it is also used in trucks, so I hope you learned something new Lulian.
Hi Paul, thanks for supporting my channel with your visit and for taking the time to interact, it is greatly appreciated, good luck with doing the oil change on your vehicle. Gary

Fantastic step by step I'm glad I watched this man I would stripped half the covers off thanks so much
Oil changing interval for crdi 2.0 is 30.000km or 2years. Oil 5w30, C3. 😎😎

Very helpful. Unfortunately the oil grade noted was not applicable for my 2015 CRDI AWD. Objective and process was accurate. Thanks

I’m really impressed with your work🙏 do you think some point you will do the diesel filter?
I love they well you fully explain things in details 🙏
Really sorry I don’t mean to be a pain, may I ask a question? How many kilometres do you have to change the diesel filter?

@@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai37905w30 or 5w40 .Otherwise you will destroy the dpf filter.
