- This is one of my all-time favorite scenes/stories in a film. It's a story about a wife finding out a "dark secret" from her husband's past. Phenomenal acting. Great art direction. Hilarious story. From Woody Allen's 1998 self-searching, dark comedy "Deconstructing Harry." An underrated film in Allen's impressive collection.
"So what are you making a fuss? Some bury, some burn. I ate!" Max is one of those practical cannibals! haha
Phenomenally funny and smart movie, even on the rarified sky high scale of Allen’s best. This one’s criminally neglected.
"He probably had all his hair then..." Dolly's look back is priceless!
I love the art direction of the bar mitzvah. The lit up Darth Vader heads on all the tables, the waitresses in Princess Lei costumes, the "May The Force Be With You Donald" on the wall. A fully realized theme in a hotel banquet room, but still kind of off. It's pitch-perfect.
This whole scene is priceless, I remember crying with laughter at the cinema , years go by and I still cry! 😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏 Woody is the Best!
Lol. 'Some bury, some burn....I ate'. There's some dark humor in this hilarious film.
You know Max he's nothing with tools. He can't even hang a picture.
'Some bury, some burn, I ate!' Haaaaaaaaaa genius!!! Happy 80th Birthday Woody! x
"If I tell ya why I did it, do ya promise not to nudge me?"
Her voice makes it twice as funny.
I also love how she has all of the subtlety of a mack truck at the dinner table with Max. Classic lines in this scene.
One of my favorites scenes of his entire filmography, as well. "The man has a side???".
This is gold.
These few scenes are a show stopper! Absolutely hilarious!
The hair quote kills me everytime!! 😆 🤣
Possibly the most brilliantly original movie ever.
Agree, I loved this movie as a teenager and none of my friends understood why. They never bothered to watch it just assumed because it was Woody Allen it was "boring " . Caught it by accident one summer night in 98 at like 2am and was hooked. The dialogue is great
Saw this in the theater, and I literally laughed for the entire scene. It was typical of Allen's books. What adds to the scene is the woman's voice, and her cannibal husband's inability to recognize the gravity of his actions.
Her tactless way of broaching the subject of her husband of 30 years not only murdering his former family and a neighbor but also eating them is too funny for words.
Love how she accentuated it: "He devoooooured them!" haha
"Wouldn't you rather have meeeat?!" SO funny!
Sheer genius,, the timing the lines the context everything and the movie is amasterpiece along with Broadway Danny Rose and Zelig one of the best of the best
Truly one of his best! And, one of the best scenes!
I love this scene. It makes me laugh every time I see it.
Most hilarious dialogue ever..!!.. 😆 🤣
One of my all time Allen favourites. Know the lines by heart now.
Brilliant writing and acting. Cracks me up every time I watch it 😅😅😅
"What? What happened? Nothing terrible happened to your husband Phil? He's been dead for so many years."
These are some of my favourite scenes from one of my favourite movies
I know Annie Hall, Bananas, Manhattin, Hannah and Sisters and others great movies but "Deconstructing Harry" the best Woody Allen film I think :)
That's some Star Wars-themed bar mitzvah.
Hey Jonah, how’s it hanging? 🤓
@@dcg509 The same.
Lol, typical Yiddishe grannies, love it!
deeper, and deeper...
and carry on with the neighbour
lmao😂 grandma is so pissed yet cant help the rythme.
Thank you for uploading this, Kristina. This is probably the funniest scene in Woody's career. I watch this video every so often, because it always makes me laugh.
What a brilliant scene.
Can't wait to watch it. If it's not on Netflix, I'll get it tomorrow. Love Woody - a genius!
BRILLIANT!
"Wouldn't you rather have meeeeeeat?!"
Qui in Italia e' stato un successo enorme...." tu preferivi la carne...😅😅😅 , grandioso Woody
Genius writing.
the man has a side?
he probably had all his hair then.
Harry’s sister go “enough!” At the end😂
"He probably had all his hair then" - that one has me rolling every time...this is the best "guy" flick, EVER
I know...who cares...haha but I just wanted to make the point that yes, this IS one of Woody's finests
Brilliant film.
I'm dropping dead
max has a side?
2022 Rules forever 👍.
Theses scenes are briliant indeed. Could they be uploaded again in synch? The sound seems way ahead of the image.
At 0:41 the old blonde lady sounds like Woody's aunt from Annie Hall "the lively on" at the flashback scene.
@anthonygrg Yeah - it's not considered to be one of his better ones. I'm with you that it's not the apex of his career - but I think I like it way more than most people or critics. Quite a few critics wrote that they found a lot of the material offensive. But I think that's coming from an unhealthy level of political-correctness.
THIS SCENE IS ALL REALISM MEMORIES OF PEOPLE FROM THEIR PAST TO PRESENT LIVES
Allen from Star wars to... Hour of the wolf (Bergman) and Shining (Kubrick) :D
@anthonygrg it's definetly one of his best films, and on of my favourites as well
wouldn't you rather have meat?!
What is by you dark?
Dark!
😂 what is thee aha AHA!??
@Kristina108 Allen LOL! xD
Trump wants us to know that Max also has a side.
