Yasso.. I Had An Emotional Realization About Shoresy Last Night...

- If you've seen the Letterkenny spinoff, Shoresy, you know Shoresy was adopted. And much like Wayne and Katie, we don't know exactly what happened with his parents. I've watched the series I don't know how many times now and have always picked up on most of the themes and running bits (like Shoresy encouraging the boys to call their parents). But something hit me last night during the True Love musical scene of the finale, and my feels need to speak to their attorney about how hard they were attacked.
Apologies for the shitty quality of 90% of the clips, I could only find one scene to screen record. I still haven't figured out how to screen-cap hulu so rest I had to film the TV to get the scenes I wanted.
The last scenes in the final episode are basically an allegory for "Do you want more of this show?" to the viewers, as Shoresy himself tells Zee there's a whole team of players who now hate to lose. Any of us who enjoyed this show would *HATE* to see it lose.
Exactly! I’d hate for this show to end, such Beauty in the final scene
you got that for fks right!
I just want bums in seats.
You dont have to worry about that because they are already in production of season 2. Show is good enough to win an Emmy IMO.
@@thadalicious-i4k Fantastic news, and agreed!
Shorsey is a bit deeper than one might expect, thanks to the writing and acting. Awesome.
The "True Love" scene is such an emotional gut punch the entire season was building up to and it gets me every time.
Yep its just absolutely perfect
100% , I feel the universe encapsulated. I'm high but I feel you
I’ve seen this series through several times and each time I catch new things. But I never saw this and … wow. This show is genius. Good catch! Now I need to go cry a little.
If your realization is how highly Shoresy values a family he can rely on, including his team, I agree.
He stresses the importance of "that call" BECAUSE he has no one left to call. Also, he's a born leader and you see how happy the team is.
I played Lacrosse in the 70's. No cell phones yet. We lined up at the payphones to call home. We had to keep it to 30seconds per call so everyone could get through.
@@CraftAerowell why doesn’t he call his foster dad instead? I get that he saw Nat’s mom as his real mom but she passed away which is why he’s alone with Nat in the end, but why doesn’t he sit with the rest of the team and just call his foster dad instead? Didn’t episode 4 imply that he had a pretty good relationship with him? Am I missing something?
@@yitoproductions Yeah I thought of that. I even went back and watched that episode again. The only thing I can think of is that Shoresy didn't travel for the game, he lives there. Still sits a little awkward in the storyline though.
@@yitoproductions Because it's not the same. It's great that Shoresy has his foster family, and enjoyed the love of a man whose vocation it was to pick up all these lost childen and give them a home. But as real as that love is, it will never replace his mom. So, Shoresy does what he can to honor her memory: he makes sure that all the guys lucky enough to have their parents around, show a little appreciation.
Even after everything frankie and shorsey have done to each other, it's like it's all forgotten, for now at last
Jared always knows how to put the why in all of his shows no matter how silly. There’s always such a real motivation behind the characters that mirrors our real lives.
I love this show on so many levels for so many reasons
The final episode is some of the best TV I have ever seen. I now nothing about Hockey, but i know about "the love of the game" and the room gets very dusty every time I see the team leaving it all out on the ice and celebrating as though they had won the trophy. That look between Shoresy and Nat at the end of the game says it all.
Shoresy hauling ass to Michaels the minute the final horn sounded to console him and show his appreciation... gets me every time.
@@JamesScheibli 100%. Anyone who has ever been on a team that really meant something to them has been on both ends of that conversation. It hits me right there as well. May be my favorite moment of the whole first season.
When he is presented the jersey with the Captain “C” on it and he starts crying that’s probably the hardest I laughed lol
This show does so many things so well. Their music, editing, writing, and casting are a straight up amazing. Canada to a T
One of the funniest series I have ever watched and and as soon as i finished the 2nd season I watched it all again this show has to go on cause i would hate to loose it
I cannot watch that last episode without tearing up, both at the end of the game AND the scene in the snow before the credits.
This show is about love, no question. It is deeply romantic without being a "romance".
I totally caught that 1st time through.
We were a Foster family in the 70's and the episode with Scott Thompson just blew the Shorsey back-story the fuck up. The genius of introducing such a random selection of characters, that can be brought in for any given story arc, can't be understated.
Also... I played Lacrosse back then. We had to line up at the local payphones and kept it to 30seconds so everyone could touch base (cell phones were just on Star Trek). Out of Province, we'd have the Coach call "a Mom" back home and She'd call all the other Moms, so we were covered. 👌
My God, I loved this season and I'm ready for season 2. I love how they took Shoresy and his chirps and made him an actual character with character. Sticks all around, boys.
27 October!!!!
@@Squeak74B Time to give em the fkn lumber, boys 😁
@@MJM541977 That's what they get in the playoffs. The lumber. :D
Settle down….
The "they must be big shots" part was Shoresy turning into Wayne
Settle down…
😢
I love Letterkenny, so from continuously rewatching Letterkenny and then watching Littlekenny, I believe it's called. The kid cartoon version. I concluded that Katy & Wayne's dad was either:
1) The former toughest guy in Letterkenny back in the day, whom helped everyone and showed great respect, but his life was tragically cut short. So Wayne strives to be like his dad and being the toughest guy in Letterkenny is a way to honor his dad.
Or...
2) Katy & Wayne's dad was a drunk and abusive dad. Abusive towards them, the mom and including their dog. So Wayne had to become tough at an early age in order to protect his sister and dog from their dad by taking all the beatings. Hence is wanting to be and remain the toughest guy in Letterkenny. More than likely he had to defeat his dad to do so too. And their dad isn't around because he is either dead or in prison. Wayne's dad being a mean, abusive drunk is what also made Wayne become a great, respectful, honest and helpful person. Which is the complete opposite of what his dad was.
To be honest I'm leaning more towards the 2nd scenario. Again, only going with #2, because of the Letterkenny cartoon shorts. Littlekenny.
Also, strong possibility that in both scenarios Katy & Wayne's mom died before their dad and while both Katy & Wayne were still little kids.
That's actually a pretty decent conclusion. My wife and I have been working on one where Wayne and Katy's family were actually Mennonites and the pair left for rumspringa. Uncle Eddie being the last one of their family to do the same, that's how they ended up in his care. It started out as just a joke but the deeper we got into it the more sense it started to make lol.
@@rickshelton85 I think you may have something there with that Mennonite theory. Maybe both their dad and uncle Eddie were the Mennonites who left. Thus, instilling the ethic of "when a friend asks for help, you help them" mentality. Plus, I don't think Katy and Wayne have ever made fun of The Dyck's, like they would everyone else. It's only been Dary & Squirrely Dan who come down on the Mennonites.
Considering how horny McMurray is, I wouldn't put it passed him to have also been a Mennonite once. Lol
@Edgar Paniagua see you're on the same page with us, I think it's pretty sound. Explains their strong work ethic and sense of community; how even though some of their morals and traditions are more liberal, they still take them very seriously and hold to them religiously; explains how they're so agriculturally inclined; let's say uncle Eddie tried some booze and women on his break so decided to start his own farm and open a bar and start getting all freaky (hence his ongoing thing with Gale and why he left Modean's to her). The Mennonites tend to shun the ones who leave so it would make sense they never bring it up when they visit. But the Dyck's are a sweet, sentimental clan that tend to make little exceptions (like when they adopt the dog) so it would make sense that's the ONE group of Mennonites that fuck with the group from the show. Might even suggest they're related. Hence Noah's fondness of Wayne and why Anita tends to fuss over Katy so much.
The list goes on and on lol
I just assumed the folks were at work or they didn't live with them, being adults.
I'm gonna choose to believe it's #1. 😉
I love letterkenny and shoresy both really good shows, I bought a sweater of their logo of the husky and it says pitter patter.
I always get chocked up on that scene
Did I hear you cry in the background?
Few shows on TV understand that comedy lives in the wide shot better than this one. Barry is a close second, and maybe better, but they've got HBO behind them.
Scrubs understood it perfectly i I think. Ridiculous gags and legit A level drama. If you haven't seen it, just watch any episodes with Brendan Fraser in it or the episodes called my lunch and my fallen idol.
@@ryancbarrett96 Scrubs is an all-time fave of mine, wore the DVD box set out in college
@@UnleashthePhury I'm annoyed because I never picked up the box set because I was waiting for the Blu-ray that never came. Supposedly because it was shot and framed with 4:3 in mind and you'd see the background. Now it's over $100 because it's a collectors item, mostly because they didn't license the songs properly in the 1st 3 or 4 seasons. Not getting to hear Come Around by Rhett Miller at the end of My TCW was such a bummer when I binged on Amazon. One of my favorite episodes.
There's a TV show called Letterkenny that's pretty close too
Yup I got this same line from my buddy in FL when I flew down and hadn't told my mom I made it.. and he knows my mom.. lol
I love it. He has no problem walking up behind you in the bathroom and smashing your head against the wall, but gets upset with the guys for not calling there folks XD
They made a 2d shithead (my favorite character) into a deep and caring character with a rough exterior (even more of my favorite character now)
Show got heart.
I believe that there is no Parent on this 3rd Rock from the sun can compare to a hockey parent. While most of us are turning over in bed 'cuz it's too early to get up a Hockey parent is going out to warm up the car to take their kid to morning skate. You have to love that little rug rat to get up every morning for that. I hope they appreciate it.
It's hilarious- but it's the combination of the laughs, and the real heart that this show has that make it special. That scene at the end of the second game with the 'soo gets me every time.
Hockey brings people together.
Am I the only person that forgets at times that Shoresy and Wayne are the same actor, Jared Keeso just kills it on the screen and plays his characters so differently that you can actually forget they're the same person.
I tear up every time I watch that last scene of szn1. I need szn2 already!
Better than Letterkenny in my opinion
Fuck this show is so perfect ❤️
Hi Mom, It's Jim...Oh hey Jim, Hold on, jim wants to talk to you, no other jim...
Great clips. Great show.
As someone who’s adopted it’s really nice to see this backstory cause people make fun of adopted people from what I’ve seen, it ain’t that bad we just chilling
It probably has roots in caste systems widely seen in all cultures historically and still prominent in some. For example most people were peasant serfs in Europe and UK for quite some time. The only people who had surnames had power and wealth. They passed that to their recognized offspring but not to their bastards. So being a nameless bastard was as good as being back in the underclass who lived short brutal lives and were basically slaves. An orphan was lucky for any chance at survival in history but would not find success when social mobility did not exist. It sounds barbaric but those general cultural feelings are about 3 generations back or less for most of us I suspect.
The True Love scene is essentially what all sports should be.
Ladies and Gents, call your parents, one day they will be gone and i can tell you it freakin sucks
Thank you for this
Is someone literally crying in the background?
Gotta wake up pretty early in the mornin aye
AAAAAAAAA!!!! Scott Thompson on Letterkenny!!!!
What do you think about this video clip Joe? How about you Joe? And what about you Joe? OK...let's get some sticks!
This video says a lot, while saying nothing.
Very deep
Few.
I hope shoresy calls up Riley and Jonesy to join the team.
I don’t think they’d fit the vibe of the show. Maybe as a cameo but definitely not main characters
They wouldn't fit this show. Shoresy is a different character by the end of the season. He is still the same guy but definitely matures and becomes the leader the team needs on and off the ice. He is still going to chirp everyone, fight, and be a pest, but also live up to being the Captain.
@VetGoalie76 I disagree...I think it would be a great character arc if let's say the bulldogs fail this season and Shoresy calls up Riley/Jonesy to join the team for the new year.
Mom is gonna be right rotted
What, you mean bc Shoresy didn’t call his fam at the end?
Shoresy thinks of Nat's mom as his mom. He can't call her because she passed away before the show started. That's why him and Nat are together when everyone else is calling their moms.
@@JamesScheibli if that were true then there wouldn’t be other instances of him calling his dad when the rest of the team talks to their parents ?
J-Rock from Trailer Park Boys is one of JJ's announcers. Glenn is the other
When I realized J-Rock was also Noah Dyck....lololololololololol
Guys, aren't the Jims just the greatest?
Was he adopted? Seems like he grew up in the foster system.
Yes he's a foster kid, it's established at the family reunion
@@Thunda1986 Right. I know he's a foster kid. But that doesn't mean he was actually adopted by anyone.
Nat's mom informally adopted him. That's what the picture was meant to imply.
I never saw his parents.... don't think he has any...just him as his sister and his friends, never saw his mom and dad
its Yeah, so!
why isnt he calling his dad.... please I need him to be calling his dad
Big sexy is by far the funny 1 of the bunch
Wait does that mean his Dad died?
His adopted dad looks like Canadian Christopher Guest
He's a Canadian legend in his own right. He's from The Kids In The Hall
@@bgGameClips The one on the show or Christopher Guest? I remember kids in the all, but I was more of a The State guy. So many great comic actors came out of that show. Then Thomas Lennon and his wife made Reno 911 and launched even more careers like Kegan Michael Key and Kyle Dunnigan.
@@ryancbarrett96 the dad from the show is from Kids in The Hall
that clap lol
I'm sorry, the show lost something when Shoresy got a face. We all knew who it was but we didn't want to know.
it's what you call true love, deeply invested Hurry up with 20 more seasons
Best show ever
