I dunno what is up with all the motion gittering. It just appeared here on youtube, not on my local copy of this... Man nothing but issues making this video.
PS5 has pristine image quality on the quality mode on the OG hardware. The frame rate can slightly chug rarely, and the shadow draw in distance can pop and be a little obvious. The shadow issues are way more noticeable than Pro's ray tracing! Can't believe they have the same draw distance. First thing I would like to turn up if there was a PC version.
Yeah shadow casting in games is one of the most expensive rendering options. I bet Poly decided not to enhance those on the Pro because they saw some significant performance drops! The hardware is simply not powerful enough! This is not good.
Ive played over 2k hours of GT7 in VR. I don't play this game any other way. In that time I've noticed some things while racing that aren't deal breakers for me but more minor annoyances. Namely, watching the cars ahead lose their spoiler, and badge, as they pull away. Also, seeing shadows being drawn not too far in front of me. Probably not that big a deal on a flatscreen sitting on the couch but being 'inside' the game in VR these kinds of things are amplified. Another annoyance was the shimmering trees at Nurburg as the global illumination is trying to replicate light passing through the leaves. The Pro with the update sees the shadow draw no longer visible. The spoilers and badges still pop out of existence but only when the cars are further away. Far enough away to not bother me anymore. And the shimmering trees are no longer shimmering. They now look more like they do in replay mode with RT on. I also noticed on PS5 when using my mirrors you can watch parts of of the track behind you disappear. On the Pro I'm yet to see any popout so far. Is the Pro worth it just for these small improvements? I leave that up to you. For me it's all about immersion. For me the Pro with the update takes it up a notch. I'm content with that for now. However I do feel the updates to VR mode seem either rushed or still a work in progress. Only time will tell if pd make more improvements over time. I hope they do though. I can't get enough of this game.
While there is a lot to criticize with the update, the argument that it doesn't look that much different doesn't really hold up. Polyphony never promised any drastic changes to begin with, and as soon as cars are in close proximity to each other, those ray-traced reflections do matter. I love especially how now everyone suddenly decided to start using chase-camera when it's all about the bonnet camera in GT, the mode that benefits the most.
That's some copium right there. When comparing the previous gen mid cycle refresh upgrade, you're paying more for less with this one. It's absurd just how bad it is because the tech is there but the hardware is not powerful enough.
@@BleedForTheWorld Is the tech there though? All polyphony has are ray-traced reflections and they are there, just need to find a better solution for the RT filtering that’s all. Polyphony are masters of making the games look photorealistic but they are not known as some tech wizards all of there solutions are tried and tested never cutting edge.
There are inprovements, that's evident, but with RT many things are looking worse. In the cockpit view RT works, with some isues in materials (chrome and metallic ones especially), but in general, looks better. Ilumination and reflections on the dashboard, wheel, etc. The interior looks less dark. It's good. But from the exterior cameras the cars have pixelated edges and reflections in some parts they should not have them, making it weird. At night, especially with metallic paints, lights glare looks awfull, and colors are much more plain. I would like to see a mode, without RT, 60fps and better draw distance, AA, and LODs distance for example. I mean, all the current options are a compromise... PS. VR quality is the best thing after the patch.
It's probably 45% better on paper somewhere but certainly not in practice when it comes to utilizing and including modern tech like RT. Even the best consumer GPUs in the world struggle with that.
You gotta remember this is originally a PS4 game, so i dont expect or even want them to spend too much resources on fixing this game while posponing gt8... i think we will only see a difference in gran turismo 8 when comparing ps5 and ps5 pro
Yea, nah, I can't tell the difference between any of the modes. Make a poll in the community tab and get people to vote what mode they think it is. I like the way you put the arrow in for the bumper mode fence bit and then replayed it a couple of times. need more of that. The other time you mentioned the grand stand showing up... i didn't see shit. 🤣🤣
Oh dear yes those that have bought the new pro got a free packet of placebo tablets aswell . One to be taken just before gaming and take with plenty of water as may cause dry mouth due to increased anxiety !
I think the PS5 Pro has been a mixed bag honestly in my experience. On the one hand, the extra horsepower of the console means that unpatched games with dynamic resolution scaling and/or wobbly 30 fps or 60 fps framerates now run better on the PS5 Pro. That is nice to have for sure. especially with sharper image quality and smoother framerates that can now stay within the PS5's limited 48-120 Hz VRR range. On the other hand, the actual Pro enhanced patches have been pretty disappointing. It's evident to me that PSSR works best when the game is using a higher base render resolution and looks progressively worse the lower the resolution goes... basically just like FSR did on the base console. Silent Hill 2, Alan Wake 2 and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor all have visual issues such as aliasing, flickering and/or shimmering due to using PSSR on low resolutions. All of them look subjectively worse than the original modes. And a disturbing trend is that developers are replacing the original modes from PS5 for the Pro version meaning I cannot just switch back to the original modes and use the extra power of the Pro instead of having to endure sub-par image quality with PSSR. I also played Final Fantasy Rebirth over the weekend, a game that has been praised for having a good PSSR implementation for the Performance mode. And, yes, it certainly does look better now in the 60 fps than on the base PS5 but the game is still using the same graphical preset as the base PS5 so the Costa Del Sol area where I am now is rife with awful and distracting pop in, especially when zooming around on those two-wheeled vehicles. I would personally rather they just dumped PSSR for a better graphical preset and bumped the resolution up a bit to use Unreal Engine 5's TSR. Final Fantasy Remake looks fine in its 60 fps performance mode for example and doesn't use PSSR. As for Gran Turismo 7, the game is great but the Pro patch is underwhelming as the RT reflection are really not noticeable during actual races and, of course, if you check for them in the replays well they are there but they were also there on the base PS5! PSSR doesn't make the game look any different here and I agree that the developers should have just targeted higher graphical settings rather than adding RT to gameplay, which really isn't needed in my opinion. Maybe RT would have been better used for global illumination and shadows?
The only noticeable difference is actually the frame pacing. There is slightly less stutters. But it''s not like it was game breaking before. The game looks good but Polyphony's engine is dog crap, and you can tell everything is brute forced. No way it can be PSSR friendly with all the ductape there must be in there
Only them that have thrown 700 of thier hard earned at it, will say its way better. They are under the placebo curse though and have to justify thier impulsive stupidity.
