It's summer 1973, night time, cruising the roads in my Blue 1967 Camaro convertible, 400 small block, 4 speed, Edelbrock high rise, Holly 650 double pump, hot cam. With my girlfriend and a couple of buddies, smokin joints and having a few beers. Not going anywhere in particular, maybe the lake to meet up with more friends, listening to the Doors. I would give all I have now to go back and do it again.
Hey Jim, some cool memories. And that car you were driving? Dude, you would have fit right in cruisin' around town back in the day in Waterbury CT. The Doors were my main group starting with their album debut '"The Doors" 01/04/67.
This song from the early 1970s never gets too old and it will always be a timeless classic. It's probably one of the best songs of all time. It's a great song, isn't it?
I agree the song is good & is enjoyable. But i can't help not forgetting the guy died so young, (27). Was related to drugs and mysterious persons initiating him. Native americans iirc
Really deep songs and lyrics. Telling for the evil wich is around and we have to protect us from bad people. Difficult to find a pure person in your life. You must prepare your self to work alone.
I do not see this as a song about a serial.killer, I see it as about the deeper reality of our mysterious existence. The killer is a symbol of the dark destructive force that casts its large black shadow that is ever-present in our world. "Road" of life. Be wary of that killer on that road.
All art is always open to different interpretations, but facts are still facts. It's about a real killer hitchhiker who killed the family that picked him up.
@@LordKinoda I have heard and read about this too in documentaries and articles about the doors, but I also remember John Densmore in his book Riders on the Storm saying that the band members would ask Jim what certain lyrics were about and he would always say that's for me to know and for you to find out. I wonder what Jim Morrison would say if we asked him what Riders on the Storm was about do you think he would agree that it's about a serial killer? And if it was do you think that he made the song about a serial killer because he knew the serial killer symbolized a concept Beyond just a serial killer?
It's summer of 2017. There was a thunderstorm raging across my town and me and my dad were driving home, and then this song plays, that was my first time hearing this song. A similar incident happened the summer after. I was sleeping and I heard this song. I fell back asleep to the sound of this song and the rain hitting the trailer I was in. This is my favorite song. :D
I do not take away credit away from Jim, for he was a talented man beyond his time, but I would like to appreciate The Doors as a whole. A lot more than Jim Morrison went into that band and it should be remembered as such. Still, with respect, rest in peace, Jim Morrison.
The music The Doors, if you're a fan can put you, high or not, in a trance. Listening to this during covid 19 quarantine, it feels like we're living in a different era that is not 2020.. I can only imagine, as I was not born yet, what living in 60's was like... trying to ride out a storm like covid 19 in that era?
[Chorus 1] Riders on the storm Riders on the storm [Chorus 2] Into this house we're born Into this world we're thrown Like a dog without a bone An actor out on loan Riders on the storm [Verse 1] There's a killer on the road His brain is squirmin' like a toad Take a long holiday Let your children play If you give this man a ride Sweet family will die Killer on the road [Verse 2] Girl you gotta love your man Girl you gotta love your man Take him by the hand Make him understand The world on you depends Our life will never end Gotta love your man [Chorus 1] Riders on the storm Riders on the storm [Chorus 2] Into this house we're born Into this world we're thrown Like a dog without a bone An actor out on loan [Chorus 1] Riders on the storm Riders on the storm Riders on the storm Riders on the storm Riders on the storm
I love hearing this song when it's raining outside it just matches the vibe love this awesome song and that part about how into this world we are thrown gets me everytime RIP JIM 🙏What a voice ❤
@Shawn Elijah Jim Morrison is dead, but where he is ,is between Jim and God! I never ever assume that I know where a person who passed is. I suspect with some people, however, it is between them and the Lord!
@@debrahubbard763 Your absolutely correct. He COULD have had a supernatural salvation at the last minute. But Jim had a darkness in him. Remember while with the Doors he sang: "Cancel my subscription to the Resurrection"
This is an iconic song from the golden age of Rock and Roll. I'm more luke warm on this song, but I do remember that it had a place in early rock history. At 1:40 the song lyrics on the screen said "If you give this man a ride sweet family will die", but that was incorrect because you can hear Jim Morrison sing "sweet memories" not sweet family.
I think you did a Great job . Oh and i believe Constructive criticism is good . A concept rr anger I doubt understand's . A bit like a dog without his Throne = ) = )
Jim was a "serial killer". A killer of everyone who listened and surrendered to this song....Listen, but do not accept it as some kind of "higher truth". It's as dark as it sounds....
The Lyrics go so much deeper than people think. For starters, "Riders on the Storm" is "humanity" (all of us)...continue digging (HINT: think never underestimate or take a blind eye from the Devil, and the importance of the rule of the woman to keep popping out babies) Jim Morrison back then was warning us about the threat of Feminism if the Man turns the blind eye.
I don't like the photo because it conceals the words on the right side. The lyrics are also wrong- "take a long holiday" and others. Moving on to a better lyrics video for this song B-Bye
That was my first lyric video and as you can see i'm not uploading videos anymore ;) and the lyrics were from the internet. In 2013 my english wasnt as good as now, so i couldnt detect mistakes in the text. Anyway, thanks for your "criticism";)

Gonna have a rock band once more. This song will be one of our cups of music.
So do I . hahahaha I am in lead guitar and also rhythm and a little bit of singing some songs.
Such a classic, the doors, never to be repeated again, we need more groups like this one!
Love the picture of the clouds looks like 2 dogs greeting.

@@LordKinoda That's dumb because "riders" are bikers. It should be drivers. How a family is on a bike ?

True classic rock!🎸
He was so ahead of his time its incredible
All the good ones are.
Great keyboard solo to go with Jim's eerie voice.

Classic band , made a classic song !!!!!
Great song, good writing, and good singing... Jim had a sexy voice.
[Chorus 1]
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
[Chorus 2]
Into this house we're born
Into this world we're thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out on loan
Riders on the storm
[Verse 1]
There's a killer on the road
His brain is squirmin' like a toad
Take a long holiday
Let your children play
If you give this man a ride
Sweet family will die
Killer on the road
[Verse 2]
Girl you gotta love your man
Girl you gotta love your man
Take him by the hand
Make him understand
The world on you depends
Our life will never end
Gotta love your man
[Chorus 1]
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
[Chorus 2]
Into this house we're born
Into this world we're thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out on loan
[Chorus 1]
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm

This song is creepy, but in a way that you can't stop listening to!

There is a happy rumor that Jim Morrison is living a much calmer, happier, simpler life, in Jamaica, under an assumed identity. I pray it's true!
same with the song- the first part of gimme shelter by the rolling stones always freaked me out too.
