This is a new and original Minecraft idea / challenge where you can steal SMP Minecraft player's lives. Survival is harder than Hardcore Minecraft because PVP is a thing.

I would've made a side entrance that leads all the way to the bottom.
then all you have to do is dig to the hole and then replace the wool.
go back up and make sure the entrance is hidden, but you still know where it is.

how to easily count the dept of a hole.
just use 2 or 3 stacks of sand or other gravity blocks.
just drop em down and see how much you have left when they reach the top.
then just go to the bottom place a torch under it and you're done.
on to more digging.
