Dave Foster is also great, and nice to see Steve letting him shine. Too many master guitarists never let the backing musicians have a solo or two, but Steve doesn't need to be egotistical.
Saw Steve and the band at The Junction, Cambridge in March of this year. Superb gig! 20 songs, including several from the new album. He is such an underrated guitarist. His touch and tone are second to none. Not many guitarists can play 5 or 6 instrumental pieces at a gig and hold the crowd's attention - Steve did. And such a nice bloke - hung around for photos and to chat with fans after the gig.
Just catching up on many old Marillion albums and side projects I may have missed slightly over the years, and have been playing this Steve Rothery album like mad! Beats me why when the great guitarist polls come out every now and then, that Mr Rothery isn't in the Top 10 with Gilmour, Hendrix, Page, Beck, Clapton et all… A guy who truly knows how the guitar works. So many years of excellence!
+edbaylissmodi Totall agree - Steve R is sooo underrated. His new album blows me away - he has crafted those songs and created soundscapes that I listen to again and again and again.
Every single one of those guitar players sold millions of albums, Marillion just doesn't have mass appeal, that's all. For whoever knows his worth, knows he's amongst the best ever at musical expression and all around good taste.
He's got a great band steve playing is great lovely sound saw him with marrilian fine player also at Birmingham guitar show years ago demonstrating blade guitars which He's used for years and got his own rh4 blade guitars also played as a guest on steve hacketts tour
Steve is a real terrific guitarist - but why can't he play something new? :( For 20+ years he's been playing still the same music, every number sounds like every other one. It's really sad.
I'm sorry, I'm a big fan of Marillion, but what the Steve delivers here is just a mumbo jumbo. Sounds like how many Marillion guitar solos work together. Tut mir leid, ich bin ein großer Fan von Marillion, aber was der Steve hier abliefert, ist nur ein Gemurkse. Hört sich an, wie viele Marillion Gitarrensolos aneinandergereit.
Steven conveys a state of mind when you hear him, he is so wonderful and one of the key ingredients in the magic of Marillion.
Steve really enjoys what he does. You can plainly see it ''emanating'' from his whole being.
Steve has a distinctly clean sound like no other. The emotion is unsurpassed. An acutely fine master of electric guitar. He with an ear will hear.
Dave Foster is also great, and nice to see Steve letting him shine. Too many master guitarists never let the backing musicians have a solo or two, but Steve doesn't need to be egotistical.
Steve Rothery is so great. Thank you for the fantastic work. ❤️
Aaahhh..takes me back to the good old days of Marillion...great underrated guitarist is Steve.🤘

Good for 3 minutes, gets tiresome really quickly.
