I’m a 35yo IT consultant, and I’m absolutely amazed by the quality of this conversation. I have taken a lot of notes and will try several things based on that. See you the other side :)
This is by far the best podcast on this topic I've listened to so far. This is how it goes when starting a digital product. That's how a person that DID build 🔨 software products speaks… not like 95% of other RUclipsrs
You know, sometimes success feels so foreign and far away but hearing the way Keenan is able to so simply break down his processes and explain the core ideas of what he did and why it worked gives me inspiration and makes me think success isn’t as far away as I thought it was.
Watched this from start to finish, I had so many takeaways. Also appreciate that there were no disruptive ads in the middle of it to take the focus away from what you both had to say. More power to both of you!
As an actual programmer who has used the tools you guys speak of I can say you’re definitely selling pipe dreams for most people and obviously your own courses. If it were easy everyone would be doing it.
Y'all spending real life time... that you'll never get back..commenting BS like this instead of watching a RUclips tutorial to learn the basics of python or how to actually connect apis and make something shake
This video will probably save me thousands on my first app project I’m working on. “not focusing on features and focus more on outcomes”. Thank you for your knowledge.
This might be one of the best interviews I’ve ever watched. Came up with a 100million dollar idea based off of this and already started working on it. Thank you guys 🙏🏽

I'm not even half way this podcast and I've received so much value from this conversation, Kieran is great and really inspirational. Keep up the good work Brett.
The first minute of your video was so good man. I know you spend a lot of time getting the editing right, and this one was perfect. Getting the audience stoked for this episode
Word of advice: Focus on building an audience and mailing list. I'm a Software Engineer (C.S. grad with work experience) and I coded a web app, mobile app, and API. I launched it without an audience which was a mistake. I'm continuing to work hard to building an audience, do paid ads, and code more features. This is a great RUclips channel by the way, I'm glad I found it.
@Brett and @Kieran, that was the best two hours of content I've heard in a long time! You two are like marketing and business savants like Mozart and Beethoven were in their day for music. Brett, your podcast/YT vids are #1 in my world and I follow a lot of people. The reason is that you always give such HUGE value, ask all the right questions that I'd want to ask, and the way you conduct the conversations literally gives us a blueprint we can take action on. I like your shows better than My First Millions, Tim Ferris, Alex H., and the dozen or so more that I make a habit of keeping up with their content. Keep up the great work and thank you for doing it!!
this is the best and the most valuable thing i ve ever heard on this plateforme ,rlly appreciate the infos you guys gave us 🙏🙏goodluck brett in making more of this great podcasts
So true that most users only use a fraction of the features. It doesn’t matter how brilliant we think we are as innovators, “people buy outcomes”. Such a smart interview backed with real-world experience.
Incredible value from the both of you! This is my favorite video of yours so far, Brett! I'm a software engineer by trade. I quit my job to do freelance videography for a couple years. Now I'm more motivated than ever to go micro saas! Keep up the great work to you both 🚀🚀
I don’t know who Kieran is but I absolutely love this guy. This podcast is so valuable and so inspiring, Kieran is absolutely an amazing guy, would definitely be a great consultant lol
In. Game on. This is one of the most inspirational videos I've seen in years that works perfectly with my skill set. Will check back with you in 6 months and let you know what I've done or I'm doing. And Brett, great questions to lead Kieran down a path that gives us great insight into how to build a SAAS bizz. Well done. Cheers to the both of you.
Always a banger 🔥 Some advice, tell your editor to equalize the audio. Your voice was a lot quieter than Kieran’s and it hurt my ears while listening in the car. Takes 2 seconds, makes a world of difference. Keep up the amazing content! Your channel is a goldmine.

This podcast is so valuable. One insight I found interesting is that Kieran already had a cash flowing agency business before building his SaaS company… guess I should focus on building around a 10k/month profit income stream before getting into the SaaS game… Thanks Brett for this podcast!

Great Video. I recently lost my software engineer job and have been looking into just what was talked above around 1:15. I have the skills to get it done I just struggle to find the right idea! think I need to start asking around see what problems people around me have that I could look to solve :)
This was very eye opening. I feel like I'm way at the beginning of my journey even though I've spent the last year learning as much as possible about as many topics in the niches of my interest. I'm working through the training in order to understand every aspect of what I know is needed, to build what I have in mind, it's a lot. Thanks so much for all the helpful content, I finally have a better idea of how much I really have to still understand better. Looking forward to learning much more.
"We want to get into the nitty gritty of exactly how successfully businesses work" does not reconcile with "we can't tell you how much a service with 10,000 users was sold for"
Only a few min in, so I'm not sure if he mentioned this but relying on APIs for your business can be very risky. You're basically relying on the companies good will to keep the API available, but once they start charging a shit ton of money like Reddit did, product like Apollo, Relay, etc go down the drain. I'm assuming he talks about this later on lol but that's why if you're planning on implementing LLMs open source is the way to go😤
Thanks for the recommendation! I just listened to the podcast and it was very informative. I'm excited to apply what I learned to my own AI SAS project.
I feel so behind watching this podcast lol... I'm 33 and building an AI startup using ChatGPT's api after working in software for 6 years and sales for 14. I truly wish I could go back in time and try again.
Thanks a lot for this interview. very informative. its crazy that i just graduated from dentals school and been trying to change careers and get into tech and then I stumble onto this video
How do you find a new group of friends that compliments your new mindset and encourages you to be successful? I feel like a lot of the problems people come across is that they want to be successful, but they fail to find a new community that they can bounce ideas off of

Kudos on you for saying “for $25k we wouldn’t have had anything that works” and recognizing the truth of that. So many people think they can just hire some cheap overseas dev that low-balls everything and then they wonder why they don’t have a multi-million dollar product. I know how to create software and have architected/implemented really complicated integrations at fairly large scale. The problem I have is…finding a problem! “Just wrap an API in a UI and sell it” LOL yeah that’s what I’ve been doing my whole career. The most important part of this whole thing for me is how he found the problem - basically he overheard someone complaining. Amazing.
1:45:00 Nice verbiage. To take it further, you could build a product team with missionaries (your army), mercenaries (consultants), and machineries (automation/AI tools).

@@CamsCozyCornerbasically they have platforms where people who can't code can act like they do and make basic apps and services with a couple of drag and drop features. Most of these software services end up being copy pasted clones of other services out there due to the limitations of no code. Basically it works the best when you have connections from your family or elsewhere where they can give you money or exposure to use your service vs the 1000 other ones.
this guy is super intelligent. i would only warn about building with productized api's, there are no moat for these products are hard to scale past a couple 7 figs. and 10-15x multiples are not that realistic the average is 5x for b2b saas.

An 'API' is "Application Programming Interface"
*ANALOGY FOR NON-SOFTWARE ENGINEERS*

I'm a bit confused, what do you mean SaaS platform without using code? What's your service developed with if not code lol?
I am an SWE with over 10 years of experience. Let me know if you would to have a tech co-founder on your side. Two hands better then one 😉
@@MyWatermelonz ahh that 'model' makes sense then. thank you for the kind explanation, something about this seems deeply fishy to me.
Of course...
This interview was fascinating. I sincerely hope it's digested and executed for good success.
Thanks for all that you do!

This is my first time of hearing about sas, and I'm gonna try it out.
This is super easy ❤ good advice but im a 7 years of xp software engineer with strong dicipline .I dont think everyone can do it with out xp
This video has been incredible motivational for me. Thank you so much ❤❤
Dude you are a killer !
Best content\PODCAST in the internet!
I love it! so many valuable tips. I'm working on my own SaaS too, building the community first.
Very humble dude, great pod!
this guy is super intelligent. i would only warn about building with productized api's, there are no moat for these products are hard to scale past a couple 7 figs. and 10-15x multiples are not that realistic the average is 5x for b2b saas.
"99% of people are going to do nothing about it".... challenge accepted... This episode ALONE is worth its weight in gold
Shut up omg 😂 ha I’m sitting here watching thinking and coming up with my own idea here I am in the Landscaping world and have been working over this idea for years and you guys just spelled out the game plan for me like I can’t wait to get home and get on bubble and then you guys literally say “you could start something in Arizona about artificial turf or cutting grass” I have never been spoken to so directly in a podcast than this I appreciate you guys this conversation has been monumental and I will keep you guys updated on my software adventure but you were so close to just spitting my idea on a whim it was funny again thanks guys
BRETT MAN! This is such great information!!!
Value at:
19:50 where he talks about MVP and Figma is gold!
22:20 talking about customer surveying!
I launched my Ai Startup after watching this video which is crazy. Thanks for the motivation guys!!
That is awesome!
Brilliant and very inspirational. So much value in this.
Absolutely great podcast guys, Kieran’s experience is so valuable. Raising 1.5m with just clickable prototype in Figma, man I thought these times end in 2015.
Incredible podcast, thank you both!
I think people don’t actually understand the amount of content you can learn from a video like this one. Will implement soon
Yeah, they have no API for their brains, that Connects with RUclips
I dont quite catch how they build that CRM with general dashbord data for the reporting agency.
Learned a lot - thank you for organizing this interview and making it available to us.
So would you recommend trying to start a software company or start an agency to learn how to grow companies and then build a SaaS?
