    Thanks so much for the tips! Beginner here and I'm about to order your book. Silly question, when you take the thread and go back into the last stitch, are you actually putting it into the same point of entry or just next to it? Does that make sense? Thank you!!

    Question: When you demonstrated the "long stitch", I noticed you went back to the area you started in each time you brought the needle up, wouldn't it save a lot of thread if you went up next to where you just went in, so the back of the work wouldn't have the same amount of thread as the front? Is there a technical reason not to go in and then come out next to where you went in rather than go in and bring the thread all the way to the area where you came out with the first stitch? Thank you, it was a very helpful video.

    • @Shrimpface0v0
      @Shrimpface0v0 3 года назад +3

      What you're suggesting is actually a thread saving version of the satin stitch (variated satin stitch). A lot of people use it due to the fact that the satin stitch is one of the biggest thread eating stitches. It's all about personal preference, just like Kristen's variated back stitch for filling in areas versus the long&short stitch.
      Personally, while I do find the variated version better when I'm low on thread (and patience!), it can be quite troublesome if you're not careful when coming back up right next to a previous stitch since it can undo it. It also tends to leave gaps in between that wouldn't happen if you did the traditional satin stitch.
      Hope this helped!!
