- In this video I show you how to make a games tray with Epoxy Resin. This could be altered and personalised to the person to whom you are gifting.
Inspired by games nights with my friends (although Poker is not a game we play) more like Cranium ha ha I absolutely love the finish on this and hope you do too.

I love this! You got it right. It's crisp. And that gold paint pen is fabulous. I think it added the finishing touch. I have one in gold and one in silver. They are so smooth to put on. I have put them on the edge of coasters. Beautiful! Congratulations on your growing channel. 33K!!!! It's no surprise to me. I love your channel!

Oh wow this is so clever! What a fantastic idea! The possibilities are endless for these I would never have thought to do this. And yes what a fantastic gift idea to customise them for the individual person. You could even do photo images etc. This turned out fantastic!! Love it!!

Lovely idea! I have an old metal tray I painted black ages ago with a loose plan to make something on it. Now I have the added idea to use resin on it as well!

What a cool idea😀. Well done! I'm sure it will get plenty of use once lockdown eases. I've just bought Coaty and Cascade resins. You mentioned that you can recoat after 6 hours. Could you also do another layer at 12 hours? Some of my pieces take 3-4 layers. Also, what is the pot life, please?
Heyyyy Tazmin ... yes you can absolutely top coat and second layer after maybe 6-7 hours ... it can handle it at that point x I am not surenon shelf life ... but I would guess a year x

The tray turned out beautiful 😍 I know exactly what you mean about the deco art pens they're as rare as hens teeth here lol. I might be wrong but I'm sure they used to be available here but I could be mistaken. Really loving your videos it's easy to see how your subs are getting higher 👍
Nine you are so right ... these pens are literally impossible ... I saw the thin tip one not long ago on Amazon but I am not paying £18 for a small pen 🤣🤣🤣 I don't know why they are not widely available xxxx so glad you like the tray ❤❤❤
What a neat idea. I was noticing you made the exact amount of resin in black. And still left enough room for the top coat. I always have trouble making too much resin. Anyone would be thrilled to have that tray. Can you tell me how much resin you used for the first layer? Your work is awesome.
Heyyyyyyy sweetie ... that was a fluke ..... I knew how much the tray took in total .... so I just made a bit less xxxx I would say around 300g xxxx
Katherine,
Measure your moulds by pouring in water and then into a measuring jug. Or vice versa, if you're good at maths!
But make sure the moulds are completely dry before adding the resin.
Or, there is a resin calculator app, so I've been told, but I've not used one.

I absolutely love this. And as a card player I must try this. After placing the cards,, How long did you wait before pouring the last coat of resin?

Cards are plastic coated anyway so i reckon you could have got away with not laminating and you could have put reel chips in. Looks wicked 💜💜💜
hey lovely ... no sadly you could not get away with it x the paper edge is still there .. I tried last year and the card soaked in the resin and the ink on the card bled ... so they do need laminating xxx

The top coat is the same resin that you used for the black one?? I'm new please answer and your work is amazing
Hi Claire - some questions for you ☺️ Do you fill the tray mould to the top or do you leave a small gap? Also sometimes I get small holes in the corners or around the edges - are these bubbles and how can you get rid of them? xx
Heyyy lovely ... yes I fill the tray right to the top ... with a tiny domed edge xxx this saves me sanding the sharp edges after ....
The bubbles happened here too ... I usually go around the inside of the mould with a toothpick... or silicone tool would be better for the mould.... but I forgot here xxx
Try using Mod Podge to seal the paper

Wonderful idea and work!❤️Can you please explain to me why I got one spot on my resin coat that is not hardened after a whole week? The rest is hard. It's just one spot and I know that I did mix it very well for 4-5 min. And I thought the whole canvas was hard so I touched and ruined that part. 😔😞
Heyyyy lovely .... yes that happened to me a couple weeks back with a customer order .... I believe .... that even with all of the stirring ... sometimes we miss a bit .. and when I poured the resin usually at the very last I scrape all of the resin out of the cup .... and in to the mould. This means that I am scraping potentially un mixed resin in to the piece.
So since then I have been transferring the resin in to a fresh cup to stir again for one minute to make sure its fully mixed x

Question: do your trays and other resin art cure totally hard or do they flex? I’m having trouble getting a hard cure on my items. I’m new to resin. Currently using naked fusion casting. Thank you in advance and I love your content!!
Heyyyyy lovely .... no flexing at all x solid as a rock ... I have not heard of that resin you are using ... but if you are in the UK .... try Vista .... Cascade x the reasons resins are bendy are:
1. Measurements were not accurate.
2. Mixing was not accurate.
3. Too much pigment added.
4. Room too cold.
5. Room too hot.
Resin can be a pain x lol
@@ClairesCraftyCorner thank you so much! I am in the US. After reading the instructions more closely, the resin indicates it may be removed from mold at 24 hours but takes 72 to cure.
@@crafteesoul7336 ahhhh I see see ... yes .. so when I de mould they are solid ... however .. they do need to be left on a flat surface for a while linger ... Sorry I thought you meant they were still bendy after a few weeks 🙈🙈🙈
I made the mistake of leaving a tray on my spare chair for a couple days and it literally bowed in the middle ... once this happens it's hard to rectify as it fully cured x 🙈🙈
